Just Checking In

Not really much to say here today, but go check out my guest post over at What Kelly Said, for my thoughts on how blogging is like high school.

Yesterday was pretty lazy, although I did finally make those Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies that I’d been meaning to make all weekend.  They’re my favorite, and I may have a zip lock bag of them sitting next to me on my desk.  I do.  I mostly just watched a lot of football, and am keeping my fingers crossed that my fantasy team pulls off the win tonight.  Ya know, since the Eagles sucked ass yesterday.  I’m currently winning by four points, and we each have one player left to go tonight.  It’s going to be a close one!

After the football games we cared about ended yesterday, the roommates and I settled in to watch the latest arrival from Netflix, Never Say Never.  Yes, that’s the Justin Bieber movie, haha.  What a cute little kid, and so talented.  Anyway, it wasn’t horrible.  It showed how he got discovered by Usher and that kinda crap, and followed him around leading up to his MSG concert.  He’s a cutie, and the songs are catchy.  Whatevs.

So yeah, that’s really all I’ve got for you today.  I’m anxiously awaiting the first day of October on Saturday, and the 10 degree temperature drop that is supposedly coming with it.  I have new cool weather clothes I want to wear!  Alright, catch ya later.

Sunday Routine Returns

Is there anything more terrifying that sneezing while driving in traffic?  I honestly don’t think so, and I sneezed no less than 10 times on my drive into work this morning.  We’re all lucky I managed to avoid slamming into the cars in front of me while having my sneezing fits.  Geeesh.

As you know, I spent my Friday night being a loser and stayed in crafting a wreath for my front door.  My mom, Aunt, and sister are coming to visit this weekend, so Saturday I spent an absurd amount of hours cleaning my room and bathroom.  I even rotated my mattress, who am I?  Actually, the indent on the side I normally sleep on was really starting to become prominent, so it was about time I flipped that sucker.  Now, I roll into the middle because one side is so much higher than the other.  Oh, just another joy of the LDR.

Saturday night I did manage to drag myself out of the house for a few hours.  I met up with some friends in Clarendon for a few beers and attempted match making.  Anyone in the Arlington/DC area looking for a man with a fun southern accent?  If so, I have a friend who would be perfect, inquire within!  Four beers and a few hours later, I said my goodbyes, and was home in bed by 12:30 watching Sex and the City reruns.  It was a lovely night if I do say so myself.

Yesterday was the return of the NFL season, and I am thrilled with the performance by both my fantasy team and real life team.  Go Birds!  I basically lounged around all day watching the various games and checking scores and updates on my laptop.  Twas lovely. It was also lovely getting to talk to my love for over 2 hours on Skype last night.  I haven’t seen him since the first weekend of August, and won’t see him until October 20, and I miss him oh so much, so it was really nice to “see” him last night.  Ten points for Skype!

Alright kids, back to the grind of the work week.  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

A Blubbering Fool

Last night as I curled up in bed with Lifetime on, I prepared myself for what I knew would be an emotional hour of television.  Their new show “Coming Home” was premiering, and since I couldn’t even make it through the commercials without tearing up I was trying to mentally prepare myself.  Sure enough I spent a good deal of the show crying like a baby.  Especially when the little kids would cry, that got me every time.  Damn you Lifetime.  It really  is an adorable show though.

Since yesterday was a pretty boring day, I don’t really have much to talk about today.  I watched a lot of Criminal Minds, the Caps game, decided I should definitely not be allowed to read baby blogs, and did some laundry.  I was very excited to have nice clean sheets to curl up in last night, so of course I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat.  Typical.  At least I had clean sheets for a few hours.

Looking at my calendar this morning, I was informed that Lent starts today (I’m such a good Catholic girl) uuuh I doubt I’ll give anything up.  I’ll also probably still eat meat on Friday’s.  In my high school days, I used to use Lent as an excuse to restrict things from my diet.  I would give up meat, chips, soda, all in an effort to try to lose weight, and I wasn’t the only one.  I went to an all girls Catholic high school, and it almost seemed like a competition as to who could give up the most impressive thing.  Lunch time in the spring was a sad sight, as too many girls picked their way through their meal, throwing most of it away.  So yeah, I won’t be participating, as I haven’t in many years.

I have a feeling I’ll be spending most of today browsing hair styles online (mine gets chopped tomorrow) and making an extensive packing list for this weekend.  It’s looking like my rain boots will have to make the trip, so whatever little space in my brain was still contemplating carry on only has officially been eliminated.  I’ll be checking a bag.  That just means I can pack more clothes.  Or go shopping and buy a lot of stuff ;).  Alright, well have a good Monday!
