Checking In

Oh hey… long time no talk…

There’s a reason for that though; since returning from Boston I’ve been doing a whole lot of nothing. My happy hour excursions have cooled off, I’m no longer trying out the dating scene, I’m broke as fuck (this is only half my fault), and I really hardly ever have a desire to leave my house during the week.  A typical day goes like this: wake up, drag myself to work, study/work all day, gym (sometimes), go home drink all of the wine, sleep, repeat. I’m playing football again this year, so throw in a 3 pm football game on Saturday’s followed by day drinking and you pretty much are updated on my life.

Also, due to some recent events, I’ve realized that maybe I’m not dealing with my issues as well as I should be, or could be so I’m starting the process of finding a professional to talk to. There are only so many things my roommates and friends can help me through, and I fear I’m beyond their realm of experience right now.(Family, ahem mom and sis don’t call me to talk about this it’s all fine I promise).

Anyway, our football game this past Saturday was cancelled because of Friday night’s rain, but we didn’t let that get in the way of our day drinking. Instead most of my team gathered starting around noon for a Saturday Funday.

bar number 3 of the day for me

I was home and in sweatpants by 10 pm, and that’s really a perfect day/evening for me. However, I was then up at the crack of dawn on Sunday, bored with nothing to do. I ran some errands, managed to get in and out of Target with (mostly) only the things I went in for, and then Dani and I carved pumpkins together! Ironic, because on this weekend last year I did the exact same thing, except with a much less cooler person. (Oh yeah, yesterday would have marked 11 years since we first started dating, 10/21/01 is a ridiculously hard date to forget).

I look 12.. and tired

finished products!

So that’s what’s going on with me. If I disappear again it’s not because I’ve been committed (most likely) it’s just because I’m boring and have nothing to say. Happy Monday!

The Best Day

I had the best day ever with my sister yesterday. Actually the whole weekend was pretty damn great, but the photos from the wedding on Friday are on my camera still.  So I’m starting with Sunday.  Well I guess I can start with Saturday, I have those pictures as well.

Saturday morning after the wedding,I managed to check out of my hotel room on time, thanks largely in part to the blueberry muffin my mom had the foresight to give me. I swear the blueberry muffin saved me from a morning of vomiting. Open bar- 1, Kelly- 0, but I suppose that’s pretty much always the case.  Anyway, I had a nice hour long drive into Philadelphia ahead of me for a 1:15 hair appointment. I made it into the city with just enough time to cram some Cosi into my face before spending the next two hours getting beautiful.  Then after some quick stops in Steve Madden and J. Crew it was off to NJ for my Aunt’s 60th surprise party.

My escapades from Friday night eventually caught up with me, and once we got back to my sister’s apartment later that night I passed out cold on her couch. It worked out for the best though, since we had big plans for Sunday. For years now, my sister and I have been tossing around ideas for matching “sister” tattoos. Nothing corny, nothing that would resemble “best friends forever”, but something we could both get that would have meaning to each of us.

Back in the beginning of the year, during some intense idea googling, I stumbled across our family crest, and instantly LOVED the motto on it.  I immediately emailed my sister, she was on board as well, and we finally knew what we were doing. The plan was to get them done back in August, during a trip to WI that never happened, and we’ve been trying to find time ever since. When I realized I was going to be at her apartment on Sunday, with no plans, I told her we were doing it.  So there we were, yesterday at noon, standing outside waiting for the doors to open. I think we both got hit with nerves when we walked up to the door.

Col went first, and was a complete pro. Although, some of the faces she made during the process made me a little more nervous.

oh ya know, just ready to vomit

once we got started, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting. There was only one letter that nearly made me bite through my lip

All finished, and red. It says “sine timore” and means “without fear”

I love it. Could not be happier. Obviously drinks were needed immediately afterward, and lucky for us there was a bar directly across the street playing all of the football games. Our day continued to rock at the bar where we got 4 free shots, a fee drink ticket, and ended up having our food comped. It was a fantastic day with my sister.

I can’t wait to see her again on Saturday when she comes down to VA!

Another Round

I went on another date last night. Different guy, same first date nerves as before though. This one also went pretty well. The guy was nice, funny, and we hit it off conversation wise. I don’t recall any awkward silences. He even stood up from the table when I came back from the bathroom, which confused me at first since it’s something I’m very much not used to. He walked me to my car at the end of the evening, and gave me a polite hug. It was fine.

Which is why I’m mad at myself for going home and thinking about how I miss my ex. How do you miss someone who did something so terrible, and said so many mean things to you? It makes me feel like an idiot to be laying in bed at night, missing him; because really only an idiot would miss someone who did that to them. Obviously I got tons of sleep last night and am feeling refreshed and well-rested today.

Anyway. The rest of my weekend was pretty uneventful. Stayed in on Friday night eating Thai food in my pajamas and watching Dawson’s Creek on Netflix, hung out with Kacy and her fiance for a little bit on Saturday watching the OU game, and went out yesterday to watch some NFL games.

I actually only have three days in the office this week before I head back up to Pennsylvania yet again for a long weekend. My friend Ashley is getting married on Friday, and I can’t wait to celebrate.  I hope you all had a good weekend, happy Monday!
