Impulses

Yesterday it was fan-fucking-tastic outside.  Today, we’re apparently going to break records with the temperatures and with a high of 76 for our Saturday St. Patty’s party I couldn’t be happier.  Around noon yesterday, I dragged my stuffy and coughing self, along with my laptop and lunch outside to some picnic tables located relatively close to the building and prayed the wireless would reach.  It did, and I spent the next two hours outside working, while simultaneously wishing my laptop battery would last forever.  I’m pretty sure the backs of my shoulders got some color, and the sun definitely made me feel less like I was dying.  One more pic of yesterday’s colorful ensemble.

As you can see above, I’m in the gym locker room, which means I did some measly workout yesterday.  Holy god are my legs sore from a combo of yoga and the strength class.  I suffered through 40 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the treadmill before driving home with my sunroof and windows wide open.

So, on Tuesday night I went grocery shopping post work and work-out which meant I was absolutely starving once I got there.  This usually bodes horribly for both my credit card and nutrition because I impulsively throw things like three frozen pizzas, bags of chips and other junk into my shopping cart.  I exercised a good amount of restraint this week and only bought one frozen pizza, and a bag of cheddar and sour cream Cape Cod chips, but somehow this also found its way into my goods.

Um, say what?  It looked easy and convenient, much like my guy roommate I once dated in college, and so when I arrived home last night I used it on some chicken.  Luckily this impulse buy ended much better than that relationship and my chicken was delicious.  Although I didn’t end up using all the mixture, so if I end up buying this again I probably won’t dump the chicken in the bag but sprinkle some on a plate to preserve the rest.

With a side of ravioli and peas for a well-rounded carby and delicious meal.  I rounded out my evening by having anxiety attacks during One Tree Hill and laughing  my ass off at Happy Endings.  If you’re not watching OTH this season, you should be.

Also, I’m actually going to a real doctor today.  If he can’t help me I’m calling it quits and giving up on the prospect of ever feeling better again. Happy Thursday, we’ve almost made it.

I Don’t Want to Talk About It

The game last night that is.  It’s not looking good, and I have hard time placing faith in AJ Burnett.  I miss Andy Pettitte and the days when Derek Jeter came to the plate and made magic happen.  The one other thing I will say is that the home plate umpire was not calling the strike zone nearly as tightly for Verlander as he was for all the Yankee pitchers.  It was bullshit.  Ugh, fingers crossed for a win tonight or the Yankees post season will look much like it did in 2006.

Yesterday after work I made it to the gym for a cardio workout. My 50 minutes on the elliptical flew by thanks to the interesting CNN coverage of Amanda Knox being released from jail. I don’t really have anything intelligent or meaningful to say about the case, so I’ll just leave it at that.

After my workout I headed home to make dinner, Shepherds Pie, and watch the game.  At least the dinner turned out well.  Mashed sweet potatoes with brown sugar make everything better, including Shepherds Pie, and devastating loses.  Anyway, thanks to said baseball game I was up until midnight and then couldn’t fall asleep.  Lovely.  It appears someone else had trouble sleeping, and has found a new spot to call her own.

For real cat?  I don’t even know what to say about this, except you are a freaking weirdo.  I let her sit there until I had to brush my teeth, then she got the boot.  Anyway I really like my outfit today, but since that mirror you see in the above picture is the only one I have it is impossible for me to take a photo of it.  In fact, in just trying to see what I looked like from head to toe, I ended up bashing my head into the ceiling while standing on the toilette.  It hurt.

Anyway, I know most of you hate the Yankees, but maybe send out a good luck wish for me tonight?  Later.

Time to Celebrate!

Helloooo July, does anyone else feel like it was just Memorial Day, and now it’s 4th of July?  Seriously, what happened to June?  Anyway, I’m crossing my fingers for a 2 pm closing to kick off this long holiday weekend.  The roommates and I, along with some other JMUers are off to Baltimore tomorrow for some fun, on/near the water.

Yesterday I got in a 4 mile run at lunch, 9:09 pace, and then looked like a lobster at work for the next hour.  The right side of my headphones has officially stopped producing noise, so it’s time to buy some new earbuds.  These lasted two years I wanna say, so that’s pretty good.  I cannot say the same thing for my Nike iPod armband, which is almost a year old and falling apart.  Guess I should get a new one of those also.

So my anti-socialness struck again last night.  When I got home from work, our friend Will was sitting on the couch having a beer with one of the roommates.  Will’s in the Army and lives in Tennessee somewhere right now, but is currently up visiting.  They were going out for some dinner and drinks with a few other friends, and I turned down the invite to join.  Instead I sat home watching Going the Distance, which just made me sad.  I need to work on my socializing skills.

In honor of the holiday weekend, today I decided to dress like I was going sailing.  Wishful thinking I suppose.

Three year-old white denim wide leg jeans: 7 for all mankind
Blue and white striped tank: like $4 at H&M last summer
Seahorse necklace: Courtesy of roommate Dani’s necklace collection (maybe she can weigh in on where it’s from)

Lastly for today, new favorite picture of me and the roommates from last weekends goodbye party.

Anyone have fun plans for the 4th?
