Back in the Game

So, I went on a date last night. It wasn’t the first one I’ve been asked on, but it was the first time I decided to say yes. Probably because despite my drunken warnings about all my emotional baggage (met him when I was out Sunday night with Dani), he still sent me a text at 9 am the next morning asking to meet up for drinks.  Guys, it was my first date in 5 years. The last time I went on a date I was 22 and didn’t give a shit about anything. In fact, I showed up with my hair in a ponytail and a Yankees t-shirt on (it was September, there were playoff implications). However, we dated for two-years after that so I guess it worked for me?

Anyway, so I went, and it was good. Fun even. I laughed, made some jokes, he mostly got my sarcasm, and dry sense of humor.  After a five-year hiatus from the scene, this was my first outfit back. A step up from jean shorts and a Yankees t-shirt I suppose.

Flowy, sheer white tank- Dani’s closet
Favorite 7 jeans of all time
Coach sandals
Yurman on the right wrist, Michael Kors on the left
Hair in desperate need of a highlight and trim

My long weekend leading up to yesterday was lots of fun as well.  Dani and I went out on Friday night and ended up drinking a lot more than I think we meant to. There were shots, and beers, and mojitos (ok I just gagged again) haha, and dancing.  Oh lord was there dancing.

before the shots

after. moving so fast we’re just a blur

Needless to say, I spent all of Saturday in bed. Whatever, there was an extra day to go out and recover. The aforementioned Sunday night, was much more low-key, and lacking in shots but still fun.  Now, it’s Wednesday already (which is awesome) and the NFL makes its glorious return tonight!  I’m hoping my fantasy team has a good showing this year, last year we sorta fell from grace.

So, happy Wednesday. Any dating tips for me? I’m seriously inexperienced in this matter.

Time to Celebrate!

Helloooo July, does anyone else feel like it was just Memorial Day, and now it’s 4th of July?  Seriously, what happened to June?  Anyway, I’m crossing my fingers for a 2 pm closing to kick off this long holiday weekend.  The roommates and I, along with some other JMUers are off to Baltimore tomorrow for some fun, on/near the water.

Yesterday I got in a 4 mile run at lunch, 9:09 pace, and then looked like a lobster at work for the next hour.  The right side of my headphones has officially stopped producing noise, so it’s time to buy some new earbuds.  These lasted two years I wanna say, so that’s pretty good.  I cannot say the same thing for my Nike iPod armband, which is almost a year old and falling apart.  Guess I should get a new one of those also.

So my anti-socialness struck again last night.  When I got home from work, our friend Will was sitting on the couch having a beer with one of the roommates.  Will’s in the Army and lives in Tennessee somewhere right now, but is currently up visiting.  They were going out for some dinner and drinks with a few other friends, and I turned down the invite to join.  Instead I sat home watching Going the Distance, which just made me sad.  I need to work on my socializing skills.

In honor of the holiday weekend, today I decided to dress like I was going sailing.  Wishful thinking I suppose.

Three year-old white denim wide leg jeans: 7 for all mankind
Blue and white striped tank: like $4 at H&M last summer
Seahorse necklace: Courtesy of roommate Dani’s necklace collection (maybe she can weigh in on where it’s from)

Lastly for today, new favorite picture of me and the roommates from last weekends goodbye party.

Anyone have fun plans for the 4th?

Whiney McWhinerson

Alright so general consensus is that my baby fever will pass once summer rolls around, thank god, and thanks for all the virtual slaps across the face.  I needed that.  Also, Darren didn’t know what an episiotomy was, haha so I told him to Google it.  His response, “omg that’s horrible”.  It is indeed, imagine being a woman and fearing having to go through that.  No thank you.  Here’s a picture of yesterday’s ensemble, because I realized the skirt looks completely different on a body then it does laying on my purple sheets.

Sigh, I wish I had a waist; sadly, I am built like a boy.  That’s my gym locker room, fyi, isn’t it nice?  After I snapped this picture, I changed and started what might go down in history as the worst run I’ve had in a long, long time.  Problem 1, my legs were still dead from Sunday and Tuesday.  Problem 2, my spinach and chickpea loaded salad was rebelling on my stomach.  Problem 3, my shirt was chaffing me like mad.  Problem 4, it was blindingly sunny for the first 1.5 miles.  What was supposed to be a 6 mile tempo run with 4 miles at a 9:05 pace because a shitty, shitty 5 mile run with 3 at 9:05 pace and an alternating run/jog mile cool down.  Bleh.  And I was sore after.  I am not recovering well from my runs this week at all, and I have no idea why.  Thankfully tonight is either a rest or cross training night, I need it.

I’m so happy today is Thursday, this week really seems to be dragging, and I kind of want to call out sick tomorrow, haha.  I mean it’s going to be 70, in February.  I just looked, this time last year I came home from NYC to snow.  Plus a 4 day weekend would be pretty delightful.  I won’t do it though, I’m a chicken shit.  Alright, well I don’t really have anything else to say today, so have a good one.
