A Long Day

For some reason, yesterday felt like the longest day ever.  I kept checking the time and being amazed at how early it was.  Maybe it’s because I did a lot and was up relatively early that the day felt so long, who knows.  I did have a very nice Sunday though.

My day started with a Gingerbread Latte from Starbucks, which I enjoyed while blogging and reading some blogs.  Then I headed over to Philly Sports Club with Chris for the 11th Annual Philly Fit Bash.  Chris was part of a team that was riding stationary bikes for 24 hours to raise money for cancer research, so we went over to check on his team.  It was a pretty cool event, there were a bunch of different vendors giving out things, and various group exercise classes going on in the main area.  We hung out for an hour or two, Chris got two different types of massages, and I got some free smoothie samples :).

We left the Fit Bash, and decided to head into New Hope for a late lunch/early dinner.  It was absolutely gorgeous out yesterday, so we knew New Hope would be a great place to eat outside and people watch.  Turns out Chris’s dad and gf were on their way to New Hope also, so we met them at Havana where Chris and I enjoyed some food, and they periodically came over from the bar to our table to chat.  We sat outside on the deck under one of the heat lamps, and were perfectly comfortable in the late afternoon sunshine.

We left New Hope just as the sun started to set, and made our way back home.  It was a really nice Sunday, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to enjoy the warm temperatures one last time this year.  Hopefully it’s at least half as nice next Sunday.  Speaking of next Sunday, forecast update!

I’d be pretty happy with those temps, hopefully it doesn’t change too much in the next six days.

This is officially my last week at work, I’m hoping it doesn’t drag on too slowly.  I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is next week already, and then I’ll be moving! I’m slowly, but surely, crossing things off of my “to do” list so hopefully by the time the 27th rolls around I’ll be ready to go!

12 days…

Food Porn

Annnnnnd it’s Monday again already, sigh.  My sister, the bf and I took full advantage of the beautiful weather and were outside almost all weekend.  Friday after work, I went home and picked them up and the three of us headed over to Isaac Newton’s for some outside Happy Hour beverages and dinner.  Unfortunately because of the threat of thunderstorms later, there wasn’t any service outside but we could order drinks from the bar and bring them out.  We each enjoyed two drinks outside before moving in for dinner.

As an appetizer, we ordered the Spinach and Artichoke dip.  It is mine and my sisters favorite, and we pretty much order it from anywhere that has it to offer.

The best part of this particular dip, is the crunchy pita chips you get along with the chips.  For my meal, my sister and I split the crab cakes.

My crab cake, portion of fries, and veggies.  After dinner we came home, relaxed on the couch watching Friday Night Lights and had a few more drinks.  I woke the bf up bright and early Saturday morning to go for a run with me, and he was not really very happy about it.  Who knew 8:30 was considered dawn, I thought I was being nice waiting an extra half hour ;).  We did a nice little 2 mile run, with a few breaks for me to stretch.  I felt pretty good during it, but later in the day I was having a little bit of pain while walking.  It went away though, so I’m not too concerned.

After our run, we had to take my car to the dealership for its annual inspection.  I would like to thank BMW for torturing me with the beautiful 2010 328xi coupe that they gave me to drive while mine was being serviced.  I was kind of sad to have to give it back at the end of the day :(.  After dropping my car off in Doylestown, Alex and I along with my sister headed over to New Hope for lunch.  We decided on The Landing because it sits right on the water, has a huge outdoor patio, and great food.

We once again took advantage of some great sounding appetizers and ordered the black bean nachos.

My sister and I again shared.  I ordered a warm chicken and vegetable wrap sandwich.

Carrots, Zucchini, Yellow Squash, Spinach, Red and White Onions, Pepper Jack Cheese, in a Sundried Tomato Wrap, Spicy Mayonnaise on the side, and Fries.  I ate half of this and half of my sisters Turkey Club sandwich.

A delicious and filling lunch, which was pretty much my only meal of the day.  After lunch we walked around New Hope for a while, and meandered over the bridge to Lambertville.

Everyone was a little tired after our day, and both the bf and the sis passed out in the car on the way home.  Saturday night we stayed home again and watched Up!  Such a cute movie, I really enjoyed it a lot.  Yesterday was very relaxing, we hung out in the backyard and got some sun, and then grilled a delicious dinner of chicken kabobs, corn on the cob, and a vegetable orzo salad.

I marinated the chicken and vegetables in Lawry’s Caribbean Jerk marinade all day, and I really think this is a perfect marinade for kabobs.

I don’t cook the chicken and vegetables on the same skewer just in case the chicken needs to cook longer or something.

The three ears of corn soaking in cold water for 15 minutes.  After they did this, my sister and I peeled back the husks (not all the way off) seasoned the corn with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and onion and then closed them back up and tied the husks closed.

This was so good!  I can’t wait until lunch today when I can eat the leftovers!  After dinner we watched the Flyers kick some booty, watched some Kendra and called it a night.  My sister and a bunch of her friends had tickets for the Phillies vs. Pirates game tonight, so Alex and I decided to grab some last-minute and head down as well.  He will be going down with them around 3, and I’m meeting up with them when I can get there after work. It’s dollar dog night at the park, so you know I’ll be enjoying a hot dog and beer!  My first baseball game of the season, can’t wait!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend, I have a lot of reading and catching up to do, but until I get to it, did anyone have anything super exciting happen?
