Now That, I’ll Talk About

Today… my head hurts. I blame the four, ok five, glasses of red wine I had last night and the Yankees game once again lasting until midnight.  Thankfully, the outcome of last nights game was much more positive than the previous two.  A 10-1 victory?  I’ll take it.

Since the sun was out for the first time in years yesterday, the roommates and I decided to take advantage of it and meet at our new favorite place for dinner and drinks.  The American Tap Room menu makes me drool just reading it, and with $4 glasses of wine until 7 pm, you can see the appeal.  The beer menu is nothing to scoff at either; with a wide variety on tap, as you can probably imagine.

Anywhoodle, I ordered the Maryland Crab Soup and the Jerk Chicken Spring Rolls for my meal.  There was no description of the soup on the menu, so I was expecting typical cream based crab soup, but this was tomato based and full of veggies.  Not my favorite, but by no means bad.  The spring rolls were as delicious as the first time I had them, albeit spicy.  Thankfully I had a nice Cab to wash it down with.

The three of us sat at the bar watching the Phillies game and the first few innings of the Yankees game before heading home around 9:30.  Yayzies for both teams!  Also, can we just talk about how much Curtis Granderson rocked last night?  Seriously, look at these two game saving catches, talk about heart stopping moments.  Game five for the Yanks on Thursday and a potential clincher for the Phils tonight.

Prior to my night of baseball and excessive wine drinking, I manage to get in a 30 minute run on the treadmill.  A little over 3 miles, I think, but I’m not sure since the treadmill stopped and reset halfway through.  I needed to get two cardio sessions in early in the week since the only exercise I’ll get this weekend will be in the form of shaking my ass on the dance floor.  Dancing in heels is a great calf workout though.

Happy Wednesday!

In Brief

Things I did this morning:

  1. Ate McDonald’s breakfast, and yes it was fantastic.
  2. Drank iced coffee out of the largest container ever

Things I did last night:

  • Watched the Phillies beat up on the Nationals in a Philly fan packed stadium

  • Drank beers and ate hot dogs with good friends

  • Stayed way too late at the Bull Pen after the game was over having fun 🙂

double fisting all around

It was a gorgeous night at the ballpark, and the game was over in 2 hours flat.  Cliff Lee pitched a lovely 9 inning shut-out, and we have awesome seats int the Club Level.  Thanks again to our friend Eric for bringing us to the game!  Fun times pal! Happy Friday kids!  Hope you have a great weekend!

Four a Year?

So what does one do with an absurd amount of leftover grilled peppers, onions, and chicken from their Monday night BBQ?  Eat the exact same wrap for dinner two nights in a row, that’s what.

All rolled up, rolled up poorly, but rolled up nonetheless.  After a few minutes of fighting with the smoke detector and throwing some windows open, I had some lovely roasted Yukon Gold potatoes seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, and black pepper on the side.

It was one of those wraps that you can’t put down once you start eating for fear that it will fall apart, but it was delicious.  It’s been a long time since I roasted any kind of potato that wasn’t a sweet potato, so this was a nice change.

I had every intention of going to the gym tonight and getting my first run since Cherry Blossom over with, but after an hour and a half appointment at the lady doctor getting poked, prodded, and scolded (yeah, yeah I know the HPV vaccine is important) I was starving and just wanted to go home.  Luckily I did escape without having to step on a scale, they trusted me to tell my weight honestly, ha.  I guessed, and rounded up slightly from what I was 9 months ago.

Side note, this doctor was intent on switching me to the period every three months birth control pill.  This was after I explained the horrible PMS symptoms I develop about 2 weeks before that time of the month every month.  I was like ok well one, I don’t want to feel like that for three months at a time, two I am neurotic enough, I don’t need to worry about whether or not I’m knocked up every month because I haven’t gotten a period.  Needless to say, I walked out with two months sample of a lower hormone dosage that will still give me a period every month.

Anyway, the roommates and I are off to the Phils/Nats game tonight, don’t worry Col I will be wearing my Phillies gear or wait should I wear a Flyers shirt and Phillies hat since they have their first playoff game tonight?  Then tomorrow we’re off to NYC.  The month of April is seriously flying by, I can’t believe Dar will be here in two weeks!  I guess that’s what being super busy will do for ya.  Next weekend I’m heading home for Easter, and then he’ll be here, yay!  Well happy Thursday friends, have a good one.
