Finally, groceries!

Hooray my sister went grocery shopping yesterday, and for like the first time in two weeks we actually have food in the house.  I celebrated by whipping up my latest most favorite cooking creation.  The chicken teriyaki and noodle stir fry that I made a few weeks ago.  Unfortunately we didn’t have fettucine noodles, which really are the best ones to use, but whole wheat spaghetti was a fine substitute.  Along with the broccoli and corn, I also added snap peas this time.

better than take-out!

I was smarter this time and made a lot, so now there are leftovers for some point later in the week :).  Prior to dinner, and thanks to some motivation from my Twitter followers, I managed to drag my butt to the gym and get in a workout.  I really contemplated skipping it and making last night my rest day, but I can’t go tomorrow so I really had to.  In the end I’m glad I got there, even if my sister practically had to drag me in by my ponytail.  These are the stats from my run.

  • 3.9 miles
  • 35 minutes
  • 8:58 pace

Not too shabby for completely dreading the whole thing.  Unfortunately when I was sitting on the couch later, I noticed a good amount of swelling on the top of my left foot underneath my big toe and I have no idea what it could be.  For the last few months, ok last 8 months, I’ve been having some pain when I wear heels and walk barefoot but nothing really too bad and it doesn’t typically bother me when I run.  Now that I’ve had some swelling though, I’m a little concerned.  I’m going to pay a little closer attention to it for a while and see what happens.

Since The Bachelorette ended last week, :(, my sis and I were a little upset we wouldn’t have anything to watch, but then we remembered about Bachelor Pad.  That show may even be better than The Bachelor and The Bachelorette.  I’m not even the least bit embarrassed to admit that after one episode I’m addicted.  I also may have decided that Tenley is a fantastic name for a girl, as long as she is not bat shit crazy.

I think today is going to be a rough one, I was having some crazy dreams last night and didn’t really sleep well so I’m pretty exhausted.  Hopefully I make it through the day.  Happy Tuesday!

Lazy, lazy day

Oh my god, my internet is finally working.  I have been trying to get on all day, and now finally at 2 pm I get a connection.  Thanks Fios, you’re the best, actually normally they are Comcast can bite me though.  This morning when I woke up, I was shocked to see that it was 10:00, that is insanely late for me.  Normally I am up by 8 am on Saturday mornings, hmm maybe my Pomegranate martini and two or three glasses of wine had something to do with it.  In effort to be a good Catholic last night, I stayed away from meat and threw this CPK Margarita Pizza in the oven.  I tried to stick with the 1/3 of the pizza serving size but I was staaaaarving.
Yums.  I was still hungry afterwards, but made myself wrap the rest up and put it in the fridge.  Instead I enjoyed this lovely glass of Malbec.

Yup, can totally see my reflection in the glass.  Artistic on accident maybe?  There has been a Carvel Ice Cream Cake in my freezer since the Super Bowl, and I’ve done my best to avoid it, until last night.  Last night I finally gave in and cut myself a piece.

Don’t ask me why there was a heart shaped cake at a Super Bowl party, but isn’t it pretty?  Now as someone who is slightly lactose intolerant I knew that by doing this I was inevitably giving myself a stomach ache for the rest of the night, but I was willing to deal with it.

Mmmm cookie crumbles, by far the best part.  I am not a big sweets person at all, so I don’t feel bad when I do indulge in dessert since it almost never.  I enjoyed this piece of cake immensely.  The rest of my night was spent like this, with my laptop on my lap searching for our Outer Banks beach house for this summer.

My little baby, she loves me.  I think she is still afraid I’m going to pack up and leave for four days like I did last week because she has not left my side since I got home.  This is what I found when I opened my bathroom door this morning after my shower:

Why hello there Pumpkin, waiting for something?  She is more like a dog than a cat, she always waiting at the front door for me when I get home from work, she drinks out of the toilette, and there is no place she’d rather sit than on someones lap.  She’s very weird, but I love her.

After I finally dragged myself out of bed at 10:30, I headed over to the gym and did 30 minutes on the elliptical along with some stretching and ab work.  I was almost crying when rolling out my IT band this morning, it is so tight, grrrr.   I spent the remainder of the morning enjoying my triple venti non-fat caramel machiato and working on my training plan for Broad Street, all while watching the crazy people who compete in skiing aerials.  Ok, I am giving myself the entire next week to get back into the running groove, and then 9 weeks to train for the race, hopefully it is enough.  Here is my plan.  I’m not sure how clear this picture will be when I import it, so that is a link to the google document.  Please ignore my OCD tendencies and how this is color coordinated, I know I’m a freak.

This plan is so much different than the one I followed last year, I did no speed work or hill training at all last year just simply increased my mileage week by week.  Hopefully these changes give me the ability to reach my goal time, or even do better than it.

Todays lunch was last nights leftover pizza, and some carrots and cucumbers with some light Ranch dressing on the side.

The pizza got dipped in the Ranch too.  As of right now, I have no plans for the rest of my day/night so I’m going to go be lazy and lounge on my couch with Pumpkin.  Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.
