Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Heyo, and happy rainy Monday to you.  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Mine was so wonderful that I spent the whole day yesterday horizontal.  Whether it was outside in the backyard in the sunshine, or in my bed.  Mostly in my bed.

I had a summer hours day on Friday, which meant I hightailed it out of the office at noon and ran some errands.  One of those errands was to Victoria’s Secret to take advantage of their semi-annual sale.  While shopping, I noticed that not only was I one of the tallest people in there, but I was most definitely one of the oldest.  What is with the 12 and 13 year-olds shopping there? I don’t think I could even fill out a VS bra until I was at least 20.  Anyway, I bought all of the things (3 pairs of pj’s, 3 bras, 5 pairs of underwear) and then left the mall without even entering another store.  The damage was that bad.  Except then I went to the pet store and the grocery store, so I wasn’t really done spending money.  Summer hours are really bad for my credit card.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early, and headed up for a 2ish mile run before my roommate, Dani, and I headed over to Nats park to watch the Yankees play.  I’m really depressed that my first baseball game of the year wasn’t until the middle of June, but it sure was a good one to go to!

watching the crowds stream off the metro and into the stadium from our perch at The Bullpen

There’s my future husband, DJ, making a nice play at short stop

Andy’s 40th birthday wish was clearly for a win (he turned 40 on Friday)

Here’s Dani and I, sweating our asses off in the sun, and getting really sweet tan lines

Yes. that’s right, the 14th Inning Stretch

The game started at 1:05, so when we were still sitting there nearly 5 hours later watching this game we were thankfully the sun had finally moved behind the stadium putting us in some shade.  Thankfully, that 14th inning was the last inning and the Yankees pulled off the win!  Dani and I quenched the thirst we’d been battling since the middle of the 7th with some much needed post-game brews.

And then we ate Chipotle and were both in bed by 10 pm.  It was a fantastic weekend, and now I just have 3 days of work to get through before I head out to Wisconsin on Thursday for a nice long weekend.  So excited!

Now That, I’ll Talk About

Today… my head hurts. I blame the four, ok five, glasses of red wine I had last night and the Yankees game once again lasting until midnight.  Thankfully, the outcome of last nights game was much more positive than the previous two.  A 10-1 victory?  I’ll take it.

Since the sun was out for the first time in years yesterday, the roommates and I decided to take advantage of it and meet at our new favorite place for dinner and drinks.  The American Tap Room menu makes me drool just reading it, and with $4 glasses of wine until 7 pm, you can see the appeal.  The beer menu is nothing to scoff at either; with a wide variety on tap, as you can probably imagine.

Anywhoodle, I ordered the Maryland Crab Soup and the Jerk Chicken Spring Rolls for my meal.  There was no description of the soup on the menu, so I was expecting typical cream based crab soup, but this was tomato based and full of veggies.  Not my favorite, but by no means bad.  The spring rolls were as delicious as the first time I had them, albeit spicy.  Thankfully I had a nice Cab to wash it down with.

The three of us sat at the bar watching the Phillies game and the first few innings of the Yankees game before heading home around 9:30.  Yayzies for both teams!  Also, can we just talk about how much Curtis Granderson rocked last night?  Seriously, look at these two game saving catches, talk about heart stopping moments.  Game five for the Yanks on Thursday and a potential clincher for the Phils tonight.

Prior to my night of baseball and excessive wine drinking, I manage to get in a 30 minute run on the treadmill.  A little over 3 miles, I think, but I’m not sure since the treadmill stopped and reset halfway through.  I needed to get two cardio sessions in early in the week since the only exercise I’ll get this weekend will be in the form of shaking my ass on the dance floor.  Dancing in heels is a great calf workout though.

Happy Wednesday!

Playoff Time!

Number of pairs of jeans I tried on this morning before finding ones comfortable enough for an 8 hour work day? Three.  You guys, my thighs, they are killing me.  They are just not getting any smaller, no matter how many carbs or pieces of cheese I don’t eat.  It sucks.  I didn’t even buy wine until Thursday this week!  I have exactly 71 days to get myself looking good in a bathing suit so I don’t feel like a fatty mcfatterson next to Darren.  Help. (I know I’m not “fat” but he is in extremely good shape and I hate him).

So yeah, with that looming over my head, you would think I’d have worked out last night.  Nope.  I decided my muscles needed a rest day in the form of red wine, which I had two or three glasses of.  Sigh.  That means, in about two hours someone needs to come drag me away from my desk and to the gym so I can get a mid-day workout in.  Hmm there’s yoga at 12:30, maybe I’ll do that.  I probably won’t.

I think we are having some friends over tonight to do some drinking and have a fire in the chiminea, and of course watch baseball.  Tomorrow morning I will be up back by work bright and early to get my hair did.  My girl goes out on maternity leave, like next week, so I had to squeeze in one last appointment with her.  I’m hoping they can also do something about the eyebrow situation I’ve got going on.  They haven’t been touched since March.  It’s ugly.

Alright ya’ll, have a great weekend! Oh, and go Yankees!

And good luck to the Phillies tomorrow.
