My Long Weekend in Numbers

7 meals out

5 hours spent looking at appliances

1 Valentine’s Day date

2 plane rides

2 time zone changes

2 trips to the movie theater

3 rented movies

5 houses looked at

1 offer submitted

Keep your fingers crossed for us! Hopefully we will hear today if our offer was accepted, and if not, I may venture across the street and cry into some wine mid-day.  I imagine looking for a house is kind of like buying a wedding dress, when you know you know, and if Darren running around the house like a 5 year-old wasn’t clue enough then I don’t know what is.  I was in love with the house before we even went inside, and the 29×12 master suite with walk in closet kind of sealed the deal for me.  The big finished basement didn’t hurt either.

The weekend in Wisconsin was awesome, and went by way too quickly.  I am definitely not ready to be back in VA or at work today, the hour and 15 minute commute this morning thanks to an accident didn’t help my mood much.  Ok I’m off to catch up on work, and stress out about the house! Hope you all had a lovely long weekend.

My New Way to Pack

In exactly one week, I’ll be heading out to the Mid-West for a long 4 day weekend with my boo.  That means, I should probably start packing this weekend.  Or at least do my laundry, so that all my clothes are clean to pack.  With the first three days of weather looking like this;

I’ll probably be packing my warmest sweaters, and giant puffy North Face jacket that Darren wants to burn when I’m not paying attention.  I’m a visual packer though, so I need to see what my outfits will look like once put together, or I end up bringing 15 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of pants, and 37 tops, for four days.  I need to make sure I won’t hate it when I pull it out of my suitcase.  Luckily for me, I discovered I can pull into Polyvore actual clothing items that I own, and make up outfits.  I have two put together so far, and I for-see a lot more outfit creations in my future.

For example, here’s what I’ve picked out for our dinner and a movie date to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

No, my actual black booties are not Loubs, but you get the idea

That peach blouse may get switched with a newly acquired purple silk blouse, but we’ll see.  Ok, I’ll probably pack both, who are we kidding.  And, if  there happens to be snow in the forecast, this outfit will do nicely for schlepping around outdoors looking at houses.

I suspect this will help me with my over packing problem immensely, and it’s kind of fun!  Anyway, moving on.  After taking last week off to recover from my muscle injury in my back, I hopped right back into week 4 of Phase 1 this week.  You would think my muscles would remember the workouts after only a week off, but no, I am just as sore as I was in the beginning.  Especially in the chest area, why do push-ups never get easier?  I’m excited to start Phase 2 next week, but my lady friends who just started Phase 3 are kind of scaring the crap out of me.  Their workouts sound awful.

Alright, I’m off to go look at houses online, and create more outfits on Polyvore!  Happy Thursday!

Wedding Pics of People You Don’t Know

Hello, I’m back!  Did you miss me?  I landed back in DC at 11:20 last night, and wanted to cry when my alarm went off at 6 am this morning.  However, here I am back at work with a crap load of work to do.  The wedding weekend in Wisconsin was beautiful and a lot of fun, and I can’t even tell you how many times I had to answer the questions, “When are you guys getting engaged?” and “When are you moving here?”  Hint, it was a lot, haha.

I arrived in Milwaukee Thursday night at 7:11 pm without a hitch, and Darren and I enjoyed a lovely dinner at Carrabba’s before heading back to his house to watch a movie.  I made it about an hour in before I passed out… oops.  Friday, we spent the morning at the mall buying my love, summer appropriate dress clothes before hitting the road for the resort on Lake Geneva.

After getting all checked in, we made our way down to the pool to hang with the other members of the wedding party who also arrived a day early, before they had to leave for the rehearsal.

After wedding duties were done for the day, the group of us headed out to a nearby bar for a few drinks before calling it a night.  The wedding ceremony was at 11 on Saturday morning, and I didn’t want to be dealing with a hangover.  Dar was up, showered, dressed, and out the door by 9 am, leaving me the whole room to get ready.

The ceremony was a full Catholic mass, lasting about an hour, with the only misstep being when the bride said she would take her groom as, “my wife”.  We all got a good laugh.

There was a 5 hour gap between the end of the ceremony and start of cocktail hour, during which the bridal party was gone taking pictures.  I had no idea what to do with myself, so I took a nap, and it was glorious.  I was ready to party when 5 pm rolled around.

The reception got underway at 6, with a lovely sit down dinner, and dancing commenced as soon as the speeches wrapped up, and the plates were cleared off the tables.  Dar and I were on the dance floor most of the night, and partied our butts off until midnight when the reception closed down.

Yesterday, I was feeling a little under the weather, but when Darren suggested we spend the afternoon before my flight looking at engagement rings, I instantly perked up.  I swear, he actually suggested that.  We spent an hour and half in a store learning about diamonds, well Darren was learning about diamonds, I was just trying on every ring in the store.  The last ring I tried on was the one we both ended up loving, despite it being completely different from what I thought I wanted.

Not engaged, just trying it out!

That center stone is a little bigger than what I would actually get, and it’s just sitting in the setting, but you get the idea.  Darren left the store with lots of papers, and feeling much more informed about the whole diamond buying process.  I left the store missing the sparkling piece of jewelry, haha.

My next visit with my love isn’t until October sometime, no actual dates are set yet, which made saying goodbye last night a little more difficult.  It’s easier knowing exactly how many days/weeks it will be until you see each other again.  He’s thinking about making a trip out on what would have been our 10 year anniversary.  It all depends on work though, so we’ll see what happens.

Anyway, fun weekend, lots of drinking, I’m really tired.  Off to catch up on what you all were up to!
