Just keep swimming

Loved Finding Nemo, I think my girlfriends and I all went to see it Senior year of high school when it came out in theaters.  Just keep swimming is what I kept telling myself last night in the pool, even though my arms were tired and my head was full of water.  I have a serious problem with getting water in my ears, I think it might be time to invest in some ear plugs.  The last thing I need is something else, like swimmers ear, to piss me off.  Unless anyone can offer any tips to get water out of your ears, except jumping up and down like an idiot because that hasn’t been working.  I was a little nervous that the pool would be as crowded after work as the rest of the gym is, but when I got there only one other person was swimming, and they left before I was done.  I had the whole pool to myself for pretty much my entire workout.  Which I’m not going to lie creeped me out a little.  I just kept picturing scenes from horror movies over and over in my head.  Luckily there were no mass murderers on the loose in LA Fitness last night.  I did the same workout from Sunday, just the whole thing this time.

I’m going to try and look for another workout today, this one was good but I think I can do more next time.  After the gym I headed home to make dinner.  Last week I stocked up on tofu at Trader Joe’s and figured I should probably use it.  I knew we had all the necessary veggies on hand for tofu lo-mein, and decided to throw that together.  Check out the massive pile of veggies.

There’s eggplant, carrots, broccoli, yellow pepper, orange pepper, red pepper, and onion.  I also added some frozen corn because I had it, and well why not.  Normally I don’t use this much, and I think because of that my liquid portions were off, the noodles didn’t really have a chance to absorb a lot, which left some of them kind of hard.  It still tasted good though, and I ate it, I just need to remember to increase the other amounts when I am increasing the veggies.

I think I finally got the right amount of red pepper flakes down, because I didn’t feel like I was eating the sun, success!  After dinner I settled in on the couch for a dose of my addiction, Lost.  I don’t really have too much to say about this episode except that the last 2 minutes left me very excited for next week, and that’s all I’m going to say because the bf didn’t get a chance to watch it and he’ll yell at me if I give anything away before he does.

Chick-fil-A Temptations

As far as Monday’s go, yesterday wasn’t as horrible as it had the potential to be.  It was Monday, it was raining, and I was sleep deprived, but I made it through the day and even out to the gym.  Ah, the gym.  Not someplace you would typically expect to encounter numerous Chick-fil-A party platters right?  Well if you are me, and you went to my gym last night you’d be wrong.  I walked in the front doors and the first thing I see is my friend holding a giant platter of Chicken Nuggets (he works there).  “You want some?” he asks.  Oh do I!  Only my favorite fast food eva, of course I do!  Now get that platter the hell away from me.  Then I ran away to the treadmill.  Phew that was a close call.  They also had platters of the various wraps and chicken salad sandwiches.  Why do you do this to me LA Fitness, why?!  Thankfully there was a crowd of teenage boys playing basketball that managed to demolish everything, and it was all gone by the time I finished my workout.  This is why I don’t bring my wallet to the gym, I totally would have gotten in my car and driven to Chick-fil-A (it’s practically across the street) instead of going home to make dinner.

Yes, my chest and shoulders are quite sore today, but it’s a good feeling since I had really been slacking in the strength training lately.  Perhaps there will be some more weights in my future tonight.

For dinner, I was planning on eating the rest of my tofu lo-mein but when I got home my mom had already gotten to it.  Well, I should say she got to the rest of the noodles and some of the tofu and veggies.  Good thing tofu, peppers, onions, carrots, and broccoli make an excellent salad and pizza topper!

Sooooo good.  I think I’m developing an addiction to flat bread pizza, which means I need to go to TJ’s to buy more flat bread.  Did anyone watch Gossip Girl last night?  It’s my guilty pleasure, the clothes, the shoes, the drama!  It didn’t feel right watching Vanessa and Dan together, I felt all awkward and uncomfortable.  Anyone else agree?  Blair and Chuck though, they are my favorite!  I heard a nasty rumor that they split for good this season, that would make me very very unhappy so hopefully it is not true.

It’s Tuesday, so LOST tonight!  Woooo can’t wait!  Alright, well I hope everyone has a fabulous day!

To dye or not to dye

Hoooray, it’s Friday!  Friday mornings are always interesting for me.  I tend to still treat Thursday nights as if they are the first day of my weekend, I blame college and typically never having Friday classes, while I don’t go out I tend to drink a lot more wine/vodka then I normally would.  I didn’t have any vodka last night, but I did manage to drink almost a whole bottle of wine.  Whoops.  I have that problem, once I open the bottle I keep going back for more and then the whole thing is gone.  That happened last night, so this morning I am dragging and have a headache. Boo.  However, it is Friday which means Starbucks Day!  It was a sad day this morning, I used the last .67 cents on my gift card.  I had been using that $100 since Christmas, and now I’ll have to start using real money for my morning java jolt.  Sigh.

Now, I typically don’t take pictures of my lunch because they’re usually boring and the same thing every day.  Some sort of turkey or ham sandwich, a piece of fruit, and some other snack, but yesterday I switched it up so I took a picture for everyone to see.

Turkey Vegetable Soup and a salad.  Now, I didn’t make this soup so I don’t know exactly what is in it but here is the general idea.

  • Ground Turkey
  • Potatoes
  • Peas
  • Celery
  • Corn
  • Zuchinni
  • Some other random stuff

The salad was pretty standard for me, lettuce, baby spinach, peppers, carrots, black beans, cheeese, and balsamic dressing.  It was fun to switch up my lunch, I should try doing it more often, sadly I am very lazy in the mornings and like to squeeze out every minute of sleep I can possibly get sooooo I probably won’t.

Last night I made a new favorite of mine again, Tofu Lo-Mein!  At Trader Joe’s on Monday, I picked up some Asian Rice Stick Pasta for this very meal.  I liked it soooo much more than just with regular whole wheat spaghetti.

Also, pre-cubed Tofu is my new best friend.  I used a whole teaspoon less of red pepper flakes this time, but this dish is still so spicy.  By the end of dinner, I was sweating, haha.  Looks like next time I’ll only be using one.  This recipe serves 8, and clearly I am only one person, so there is like a pound leftover in my fridge.  I guess we all know what I’ll be eating all weekend.

Ok, now moving on to the most important aspect of this morning, my hair.  I have extreme hair ADD, and get bored with it all the time.  Seriously, it’s probably been every different color from blonde, to red, to black, and varying lengths also.  Now, it’s been its current color (my natural dark brown) since ooooh say Dec 2008 which is impressive for me, but as we approach spring and then summer I’m beginning to debate highlights again.  I can’t decide if I really want to do it though.  What do you all think?
