Weekend Fun

It’s a rainy and dreary day here in VA, as I believe it is up and down much of the East coast.  A perfect day for staying inside and watching movies, which is exactly what the roommates and I have been doing.  So far we’ve watched 127 Hours and now have moved on to Across the Universe.  The three of us actually saw this in theaters together and then spent the night roaming around the streets of Baltimore singing All You Need is Love at the top of our lungs.  That seems so long ago now. Sigh.

Anyway, backing up, Friday night the three of us headed out to Sushi Rock for dinner and drinks.

ready to go out!

The food at Sushi Rock was average, but the atmosphere and drinks were fun.

Unfortunately after dinner and a few drinks I had to call it a night and head home so that I’d be able to get my long run in on Saturday morning.  I think I was in bed and asleep by 11 pm, I really can’t wait until training is over and I can stay out and play :).  My alarm went off at 7:30 and I was up and out the door by 8:30.  The run wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t amazing either, and I really really need to get over my hatred for the first three miles of every run.

Also, clearly I didn’t run 8, mainly because I ran out of bike path after 3.5 miles and just decided to turn around and come back.  Whatever, I’ll take it.  My IT band is a little tight today, and I’m experiencing twinges of pain every once in a while which is annoying, but I think with some stretching, ibuprofen, and foam rolling all will be alright.  After my run I ended up sitting at the car dealership waiting for my car to get serviced for two hours.  On an empty stomach.  After a long run.  By the time I got out of there at 2 pm I thought I was going to pass out, and couldn’t wait to get food in my face as fast as possible.  Sadly, that’s as eventful as my Saturday got because I was exhausted and in pain.

This morning I woke up, went to the store, and cooked a lovely breakfast of homefries, bacon, and eggs for Dani and myself.  I’m currently walking around looking like a giant slore, because I burnt the shit out of myself on Friday with my curling iron and it looks like a giant hickey.

Classy right?  If only people knew that me having a hickey right now is about as likely as a nun having one.  Hopefully the burn fades soon, and I can at least cover it up with makeup, otherwise I’ll be wearing my hair down all week at work.  Anyway, that’s about it from me for the weekend.  I kind of want to go get some ice cream, but the chances of me leaving the house again are slim to none.  Have a relaxing Sunday!

Yet another weekend has gone by where I left you all hanging in the exciting aspects of my life.  Sorry about that, it’s because I spent most of the weekend looking like this.

Sweaty, dirty and wearing my glasses.  That was Saturday night.  I actually did put on some makeup and real clothes and go out for Sushi with the girls on Friday night.  Look I have proof!

Actually, they might not even be the same two people.  I’ll have to get back to you.  Anyway, because the winter weather severely screwed up my schedule last week, I ended up going to the gym on Friday after work; typically unheard of for me.  I did a 4 mile tempo run 1 mile warm-up at 9:40 pace, then the two middle miles ranging from a 9:05-8:30 pace, 1 mile cool-down at 9:40 pace.  Then I hauled ass home because the roommates were starving and we had dinner plans.  My Sushi craving finally resolved, we met up with two of our other girlfriends for a few drinks, calling it a night a little after midnight.

Saturday morning I woke up to my alarm blaring and the reminder that I had to be at the vet with Pumpkin in 20 minutes.  Woops.  Luckily the appointment went quickly, they were able to get the urine sample, and now I’m just waiting for the test results.  It will depend on the results to see what the next step is, they might need a culture? Whatever that means.  My plan for Saturday was to drop Pumpkin off at home and then immediately head to the gym.  Instead I ended up comfy on my couch until 3:30 in the afternoon when I finally bribed myself with Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner if I went and worked out.  My run was 5.3 miles in about 50 minutes, followed by a 10 minute cool down on the elliptical, bringing my grand total for mileage for the week to about 13.5.  Week one of training is in the books, now maybe I should actually formulate a real training plan.

Oh other exciting news, I had to buy a new Blackberry because mine crapped out on me on Saturday morning and won’t charge.  SO exciting since I was due for an upgrade in about six months, thanks for lasting BB, thanks.  Also exciting?  The new (actually used/refurbished) BB is in transit since they don’t keep them in stock, so to get my phone to charge I have to sit there holding the charger in place.  If I don’t return calls or texts, it’s because I had better things to do then sit holding my phone and charging it.  Don’t take it personally.  I did have the option of an early upgrade to another Blackberry, but I’m holding out until June for an iPhone.  I’ve been a loyal BB user since 2008, but it’s time for a change.

Hey last day of January!  Normally I’d be dreading the change of the calendar to February, but that puts us one month closer to spring and my Chicago trip!  Alright, happy Monday fools.

Virtual Tour

Last night we had a roommate night out, and had some sushi and drinks.  While I am not a very adventurous sushi eater, Dani and Adrienne are.  So while I enjoyed my California Roll and Chicken Lo Mein, they ate some crazy rolls that I didn’t try but only photographed.

After dinner we hopped across the street to the bar Carpool, where we just hung out for the rest of the night enjoying some drinks and people watching.  Today was a day of errand running, I’ve been to Target twice, Home Goods, Home Depot, Pottery Barn, it was unending!  The good news is that I think the house is finally decorated for Christmas!  Ok and without further ado, here is the virtual tour I did earlier of the house.  I’m still really stuffy and congested so try to ignore all the sniffling in the background, and I’ve officially decided my voice sounds weird haha.
