Shenanigans… and some business

Did ya think I left you again? No such luck suckers, just had a busy weekend that didn’t technically wrap up until 5:30 last night when I finally returned to my house. Let’s get business out of the way before we talk fun.

On Friday I drug myself over to the gym for a light upper-body lifting session, and some abs because it’s important to have a strong core or something. I needed to be done my long run by 10 am on Saturday so I spent Friday evening with my boyfriend, Chris Hemsworth.

Look at this man, I can’t even, I mean no words

I picked up Rush from the good old Redbox and watch the whole movie twice. I watched the first 10 minutes more times than that, but that’s neither here nor there and if you’ve seen the movie you know why. I thought it was really good, and enjoyed it immensely.

Saturday I was out my door and on the bike path at 8:45 am, with 5 miles on the agenda. It was not an easy run, and I had a super achy right calf the entire time, but I finished in what I think should be about my long run pace.

5 miles

It was hot, I lost one of the long sleeves I was wearing with about 3 miles left and tied it around my waist. I also apparently kicked the shit out of myself, literally, as the inside of my right ankle was bleeding when I got home. This isn’t new, I used to do it during my high school track days. I swear I was constantly walking around with cuts from my spikes. Meh, the Twitterz tells me I need to do some glute work to correct the weakness and alignment issues. We’ll see.

The rest of the weekend was full of excessive drinking, and powering through hangovers. On Saturday afternoon, a giant group of my friends met up at Bull Run Winery for a 30th birthday celebration, and then I was on the road bright and early (ok it was 10:45) on Sunday headed to Harrisonburg. I had a JMU basketball game and Super Bowl party to get, fun fact I’ve now attended more JMU basketball games 6.5 years after graduating than I ever did in college.

So close to pulling off the win!

That little Instagram box up in the right corner has some more pictures from the weekend, FYI. All in all a good training week and a good life week. 11.5 miles logged running and some good cross training.

Football, Beer, Bar Food

So, I didn’t get any of the cleaning done that I wanted to over the weekend, but I did do laundry on Friday night.  I know, I’m so out of control.  I was almost hoping our football game on Saturday afternoon would be cancelled and I’d have a chance to actually clean.  It wasn’t, instead I ran around for an hour in a mud pit trying not to break my knee in half.  We lost our game.

After the exhausting ass kicking only two things sounded good to me, beer and bar food, so Adrienne and I headed to our league sponsored bar to hang out for a bit.  Two $2.50 Miller Lights and a plate of chicken nachos later, I was ready fora nap, instead we bought Red Bulls and went home to clean up before heading out for the rest of the night.

Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day with promise of turning into a beautiful fall night, so we went over to Whitlows to hang on the rooftop and watch the Caps game.  Unfortunately Adrienne and I were accosted almost immediately by two young men who couldn’t take a hint and were neither of our types, even if I was single.  Some gems from the evening:

  • Guy 1 referring to his future ex-wife while talking to Adrienne
  • Guy 2 trying to get down on one knee and kiss my hand. Please do not touch me
  • Repeatedly telling me how my grey and orange sweater matches my eyes. My eyes are blue.
  • Complimenting my eyebrows and then trying to touch them. Again, please do not touch me
  • Deciding my sweater resembles Freddy Kreuger’s. Yeah, I also kill people while they sleep. Watch out.
  • If you are repeatedly asking us why we’re not talkative and just staring over your shoulders at the TV, just go away.

Adrienne and I eventually had enough and made a swift departure with our friend Ricky to head downtown to meet up with our friends who were at the Caps game.  Luckily, that part of the night was much more fun, and when I finally face planted in my bed at 2 am I was beat.

Yesterday I got my grocery shopping done for the week before collapsing on the couch for the remainder of the day.  My late night and inability to sleep in did not mix well and I was exhausted.  Darren called at one point and told me I sounded like shit.  Thanks hun, I appreciate it, haha.  Here’s to hoping this four-day week goes by quickly, because I am anxiously awaiting 5:15 pm on Thursday night when my boo gets here!

What are the worst pick-up lines you’ve ever heard?

Well, That Sucked

So yesterday was not a good day sports wise for me.  The Eagles lost, the Yankees lost, the Phillies lost… at least my fantasy team won?  It was a pathetic and frustrating showing all around, one that required pizza, a milkshake, and wine to get through.  Game 3 of the Yanks/Tigers series is tonight, here’s to hoping the Yankees bats come alive before the bottom of the 9th this time.  My heart can’t handle the stress.

Prior to the collapse of everyone I was cheering for yesterday, the weekend was pretty delightful.  Friday night a few friends came over and we sat out back around the chiminea roasting marshmallows and drinking.  Sweatshirts and Ugg boots were worn, and the heat from the fire was just enough to keep up warm in the quickly cooling temperatures.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early to get my hair done, and there was something seriously wrong with driving my route to work on a Saturday (hair salon is across the street).  Just got the exact same thing done as last time, dyed dark and had the side bangs trimmed much to Darren’s dismay. He doesn’t like them, at all.  Shockingly, it was raining, and once again our football game for the day was cancelled, which meant I spent the rest of the day and night on my couch watching sports.  I didn’t mind, at all.

I’m looking at a four-day work week ahead of me, so things could be worse.  One of my friends from home is getting married on Friday, so I’m off to PA on Thursday night.  The dress I’m wearing to the wedding has a lace back, so I’m getting my hair put up to show it off.  If anyone has any good websites of up-dos I could look at, I’d be very grateful as I have no idea what to do with my hair.  Gracias.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and your sports teams fared better than mine.  As long as they weren’t a team that beat one of mine.  Then, I hate you.
