Sweat, Baby, Sweat

This morning on my way into work I rocked out to the Adele CD the whole time.  It’s my new favorite, especially this song.

Last night I hit the gym for my weekly spin class, since it was Tuesday it was the class more focused on hill climbs and high resistance instead of fast sprints.  It was hard, but miraculously didn’t bother my quad too much.  I think it was made even harder due to the fact that the a/c is broken yet again in the spin room.  It was 76 degrees with no circulating air, I am not exaggerating when I say there was a puddle of sweat on the floor surrounding my bike.  So sexy.  After spin I did this upper body workout.

I liked it, but I think next week I’ll throw in some of the other upper body things I was doing on my own.  Tonight a bunch of us are heading to happy hour to celebrate Adrienne’s birth, so no workout will be happening, unless you count exercising my liver.

Random thought of the day, is anyone wondering why the hell they sang that ridiculously awful song Friday on Glee last night?  Lea Michelle however, killed Christina Perri’s Jar of Hearts.  That is all.

Still eating lasagna for dinner, and since I only have one more night of eating dinner in VA before I head to Villanova for the weekend, some of it will definitely be getting frozen.  Which is probably for the best, because as much as I love lasagna, 4 nights of it in a row for dinner is about all I can take.  Plus I have the makings for my favorite Chicken Lo Mein recipe hanging out in the pantry waiting to be used and calling my name.

Also, my burn still hurts like a bitch.  Happy Wednesday.

I think we’re in Kansas

Holy tornado warnings!  It seems like a majority of the country has either been under a watch or a warning since yesterday.  Here in VA/MD we’ve alternated between both.  The severe weather bulletins interrupted my nighttime TV watching enough times that I was well aware of the weather going on outside.  Supposedly once this afternoon rolls around we’ll be in the clear.  Craziness.

I managed to make it to spin class last night, before the bad weather hit, and it was alright.  Different instructor, less fun (ie pop) music, and more focused on low resistance and sprints than hill climbs.  For a majority of the class last night we had the resistance set between 4-8 and focused on high RPMs, whereas the Tuesday class I normally take the resistance never goes below 11.  For me, it’s the high resistance that gets my heart rate up, and not really the fast RPMs.  I suppose in combo the two classes would balance each other out, but if I can only make it to one a week I’d probably pick Tuesday’s.  Also, since more time was spent in the saddle, my hooha is thaaaat much more sore today.  Sorry, had to throw that out there.

So last night, I tried to clean my bathroom, which I thought should involve washing my bathmat.  You know, the thick piece of rug you place outside the shower, to stand on all soaky wet?  Since Pumpkin and I share a bathroom (yes it’s kind of gross but kind of the only option for her litter box) sometimes stray litter gets on it.  So I threw the thing in the washing machine and let it go.  A few minutes later I just kept hearing, thud, thud, thud, and then a crashing noise.  Uh, what?  I ran into the laundry room and every single bottle of detergent and fabric softener had fallen onto the floor, and the washing machine was moving across the floor.

Yeah, so I stopped the washing machine, it was on the last spin cycle anyway, and proceeded to pull a sopping wet bath mat out.  Now it’s hanging over my shower rod, still dripping wet.  I’m hoping it dries soon?  But seriously, why did the washer fail?  And will my bath mat ever dry?  That’s what I get for trying to clean, lesson learned.

I’m off to go stare out the window and look out for funnel clouds.  Tornado warning at work!  Byeya!

My Arms are Sore

You know what makes spin class in an unairconditioned room when it’s 75 degrees outside more fun?  Lifting beforehand!  Since I’m at work early this week, I left early, which means I got to the gym an hour before spin class started.  I decided to squeeze some weights in while I waited around.

The 20 lb bar was mysteriously missing from the rack of weights, so I sucked it up and moved on to the 30 lb bar for my bicep curls and skull crushes.  Shit was no joke, and my arms are screaming today.  I did my regular bis, tris, chest, and back exercises, and then threw in some plie squats with a 10 lb medicine ball for good measure.  Then I went to spin.

Luckily this song was the first track the instructor played, and it really got me in the mood to work hard.  I actually hated this song, until the remix with Britney came out, haha.

Trying to support myself on the bike after 40 minutes of lifting was interesting to say the least, my arms and shoulders were aching, but it felt good.  Rumor has it the ac is going to be fixed in the near future, and they are going to bring some fans in.  Heeey, sounds like a good idea to me!

I was passed out in bed by 10 pm last night, and sound asleep until my alarm went off at 6:15 this morning.  I have another long morning in the 5th floor boardroom ahead of me, I can’t wait.  I feel so completely out of place it’s ridiculous, definitely the youngest person there by a good 10 years.

Today’s high is going to be in the 80s, so I’m rocking a skirt and flip-flops.  Yay for spring!  Happy Wednesday, almost to another weekend!
