Updates You Don’t Care About

I’m happy to see you all were impressed by my chicken cooking skills.  I assure you, it was not complicated, at all.  Especially if you buy a chicken with the giblets and all that crap already removed.  Yeah, removing them myself makes me gag.  Also, I’m getting down to the last of it, which means it will serve me for about five meals.  Not too shabby for an $8 chicken.

Now since I became distracted with my 7 links post, and Engagement Chicken experiment, I missed updating on some workouts.  Not that they’re really that interesting, but I like to keep some sort of aspect of “healthy living” on this blog.  You know, to cancel out the wine, and Firefly sweet tea vodka.

Tuesday: Two circuits of the Spartacus workout, it might be time to upgrade to 12 lb dumbbells for some of the exercises, abs, followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical.

Wednesday:  Wanted to take spin, but I’m an airhead and was looking at the August class schedule instead of July.  Did you know August isn’t until next week?!  30 minutes (3.3 miles) on the TM and 20 minutes on the elliptical instead.

Thursday: I went to a work BBQ at lunch and sweat outside while eating.

I don’t know if you were aware, but today is Friday!  Hooray!  I strangely have no plans this weekend, and am thrilled about that.  I feel like I’ve been go, go, go for weeks now, and a weekend to chill sounds delightful.  Next weekend is full of traveling again since I’m heading out to Lake Geneva, no not Switzerland, Wisconsin, for a wedding that Darren is in.  I’m just excited for low temperatures in the 60s at night.  I don’t remember what anything below 84 feels like.

Ok, wrapping it up (TWSS), the radio station I listen to likes to play this song on Friday’s and it makes me chuckle so I wanted to share.  THEN, I found this fun stick person video to go a long with it.  Enjoy!

More Birthday Fun

Thank you all for the birthday wishes yesterday!  You totally helped to make my day and snap me out of my birthday blues!  My day was actually going very well until about 3 pm, when shit got crazy, and three different groups of people needed their crap back by COB.  Yeah, you’re dreaming, but I’ll do my best.  I ended up staying late to finish one of the projects, and then hightailing it home.  I had a dinner date with two lovely ladies after all.

Prior to the work drama, I got in an awesome workout, especially for being tired on a Monday.  I completed two circuits (20 exercises) of the Spartacus workout and followed it up with 15 minutes on the elliptical.  This was my third time doing the workout, and I’m still loving it and the ass kicking it gives me.  It’s also nice that I’m starting to remember the order of exercises and what comes next instead of having to check my phone each time.  I’m also muuuuuuuuuch less sore today than I was last week, so I may actually be able to get a decent run or two in this week also.

My group at work got me my favorite, Carvel ice cream cake, for my work celebration and I ate a giant slice and then had over half a cake left to deal with.  Have you ever driven an hour in 95 degree heat with an ice cream cake in your car?  I can now say I have, it was starting to get ugly just as I pulled up in front of my house.  I tried as best I could to keep it frozen, turned the AC as low as it would go, sat the cake on the car floor, and turned the feet vents on only.  There was still some meltage though… oh well it still tasted good later that night :).

For my birthday dinner, the roommates and I ventured into Georgetown to J. Pauls for some delicious seafood.  I started with a glass of champagne, because hey it was my birthday, and then we pretty much ordered everything on the menu.  Dani and Adrienne started with the shrimp cocktail, oysters, and clams, while I had some amazing chicken nachos.  For my main course I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and ate about half minus the bun.  It was one of the best crab cakes I ever had, and I can’t wait to eat the rest of it for dinner tonight.  Dani and Dre both went with the surf and turf and couldn’t have been happier.  Delicious and a perfect way to end my birthday.

Three days until I leave for a long weekend at the beach!

The Celebrations Begin

One of the greatest things about my house here in VA is that the backyard is magic.  Yesterday there was a dead bird, that no one wanted to deal with, on the back steps of our shed, and Adrienne and I both agreed to leave it until today.  Well, when I went downstairs this morning and looked out back it was gone!  See, magic ;).  This also happened once before with a dead opossum.  At least that’s what I think it was, it was kind of hard to tell…  Although I’m willing to bet it was our friend the raccoon who dealt with the problem.  Either way, I didn’t have to pick up a dead bird so I’m fine with whatever happened to it.

Yesterday, despite still having super sore legs, I managed to do the Spartacus workout for a second time.  I went through all the circuits one time, and then skipped some of the leg stuff the second time through.  I need to be able to walk this weekend.  It’s tough, I love it, and it’s over with quickly which is delightful.  I followed it up with 20 minutes on the elliptical while watching Rachel Ray.  I really need to start running again, maybe next week if I can walk.

I finally managed to get my lululemon exchange taken care of last night, and my new pants are on their way from Santa Barbra.  I also shockingly managed to go into the store two days in a row without buying anything, that’s willpower my friends.  It could also be that I plan on shopping with my sister tomorrow, and needed to save money for that, haha.  I’ve decided to buy myself a new pair of shoes for my birthday :).

After complaining yesterday about not having a dinner appetite, I of course was famished by the time I got home last night.  I had marinated some chicken in teriyaki sauce, and used that to whip up some homemade chicken fried rice.  Well, semi-homemade, I used a bag of TJ’s Vegetable Fried Rice with the chicken.  Side note, does anyone else hate Sandra Lee with her semi-homemade cooking show bullshit?  She annoys the shit out of me, table scape my ass.  Uh, anyway, it was good and I wanted to eat that instead of the turkey burger I also had going.  Oh well.

I have a half day at work today so I’m trying to get as much work done as possible before noon and the start of my weekend.  My sister is hitting the road from Philly around 1, so hopefully she makes it here without encountering too much traffic.  Although, who knows, there good be a brief period of drizzle which would send everyone into a tizzy.  I plan to spend some quality time with my college roommate before my sister gets here, and then the series finale of Friday Night Lights  tonight :(.  If you’re a fan of the show, check out this article.  I read it yesterday morning and it made me love the show even more.  So sad to see it end.

What are you all up to this weekend?  Have a great one!
