Stuffing My Face

Heyo, what’s up? I stayed home sick from work on Friday, so I’m trying to get back into the swing of things and catch up with emails and work.  So, my last post was about how my cat mysteriously found her way outside Thursday morning, and thank god I stayed home Friday because she did it three more times.  After she went missing for the third time before noon, I scoured the house looking for openings and then finally just sat down to watch her.  Eventually she got up from her nap on the couch and meandered her way back to the laundry room.  First she had to slide the door to the laundry room open with her paw, and then I watched her do this:

Mystery solved,  and that doggy door is now taped closed.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing while my sister napped (she worked night shift and drove down early Friday morning) and grocery shopping for our weekend.  I had a fantastic weekend with my sis and I wish she could have stayed longer.

We cooked a crap load of food, watched three movies (I Don’t Know How She Does It, Moneyball, and Sarah’s Key), ventured into DC, and splurged on a dinner out at Dogfish where we contemplated ordering everything on the menu.

Now the food:

Crock Pot Buffalo Wings, recipe courtesy of my girl Jess

homemade Stromboli, and taco cupcakes

Both recipes I found on Pinterest, and you can find my board here to see the original recipes.  Everything was amazingly delicious and fantastic.  My sis left to head back to PA yesterday around 4, and I spent the rest of the day and evening making my way through leftovers and chicken wings.  It was a delightful weekend, and now I can really start to look forward to my trip to the mid-west next week!

Happy Monday!

Feeling Rough

Well hello, is it really Monday already?  I didn’t post over the weekend at all because I didn’t really do anything.  It was too cold to go outside.  Yesterday was probably the most eventful day of the weekend, which explains why I woke up this morning cursing life and alcohol.  Should make for an exciting first training run this afternoon.

A lot of boyfriends/husbands were out of town this past weekend, so Friday night was declared girls night, complete with wine, pizza, sweat pants, and this board game.

Yes, it is as entertaining as it sounds.  The goal of the game is to collect pebbles for answering a Truth question, doing a Dare, or the Wild card.  Scandalous Truth questions such as “who is the cutest boy in the class”, and “what teacher do you have a crush on” were asked, clearly this game was meant for women in their late 20s.  It was a fun night though, and I think we all enjoyed ourselves.

Saturday, Dani and I participated in a Restaurant Week special at one of our favorite places, La Tasca.  It was all you can eat tapas for $20 each, and we definitely got our money’s worth out of it.  After running a few errands, it was home to the couch where I started working on a craft project, and we watched a lot of Glee episodes.  That couch was where I stayed for the rest of the night, and really the amount of Glee that was watched is absurd.  We did get a fire going, and of course had some wine, so it was another low-key weekend night.

Yesterday was really just about getting ready for the football games.  Some of our guy friends came over to watch the Packers/Bears game, so we prepared some snacks to have.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Chips and Homemade Guac

Loaded Cheese Fries

There were also homemade wings, but I was too lazy to get up and take a picture of them.  I managed to wrap up my weekend craft project just  before the boys arrived.

Wine bottle candle stick holders.  Now I just need to stock up on candles because we burnt those three down completely last night.  After the first game ended and the boys left, the wine just kept flowing, and before I knew it midnight had rolled around and the three of us were still chatting away.  Sometimes it’s really difficult to end a good session of girl talk.  I’m struggling a lot right now, so um we’ll see how this day goes.  I’ve heard from one roommate, who is also living in struggle city, the other has not made an appearance online yet, but I’m thinking she’s probably feeling the same also.  Oh Sunday funday, you get me every time.  I need a nap.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

The snow started to fall here about half an hour ago, and well my work just posted the announcement, we are officially closed tomorrow. And while that means I won’t get paid for the day, it also means I can drink all I want during LOST tonight, hooray! Which actually means only a few more glasses of wine than usual. Is it weird that I am actually looking forward to the cardio I will get from shoveling the driveway in the morning? Ugh, stupid knee, I am feeling very workout deprived.

I’ve seen a lot of other blogs mention eating their cereal with yogurt instead of milk, and as someone who usually has to gag through their yogurt and hates every minute of it, I thought I would give it a try. Months and months ago I bought a box of Kashi Go Lean Crunch, and absolutely hated it with milk. It sat in my cabinet at work, unused and wasted. Last week however, I took my peach Activia Light yogurt, dumped it into a bowl and threw a handful of Kashi on top. The difference in the taste of this cereal with yogurt and milk is like the difference between cheese and sheese. I’m addicted, and ever since that day yogurt and Kashi Go Lean have been my 11 am snack.

Yums! I wish I could eat some right now. Ok, actually that’s a lie. I wish I could eat some tostitos and queso, but I won’t. I made it in and out of the grocery store alive tonight, and surprisingly it was not that crowded. I stocked up on some veggies (finally), chicken, milk, and other essentials. Also, there is a Carvel ice cream cake in my freezer that has been mocking me for days, ice cream cake is my absolute favorite. I have no idea where it came from or what its purpose is, but I want it. Anyway, for dinner I decided to utilize some of my fresh veggies and make a salad to eat with my leftover Olive Garden raviolis.

It’s just lettuce, spinach, carrots, cucumbers, and light Italian dressing and was delicious. I had a yellow and red pepper also, but I didn’t want to cut them up tonight.
My four leftover, and delish ravioli. This photo I can take credit for. It was a great dinner, although I still think I’m a little hungry.

My first glass of wine of the night, hey I have off tomorrow!  Alright, well I’m off to watch LOST and enjoy my night knowing there is no work tomorrow. Have a great night!
