Just a few brief things.

Thank you all for your well wishes and concerns about Pumpkin! I know some people don’t really like cats or pets in general for that matter, but she’s the first pet I’ve had that’s been mine and she’s been with me since college so I’m kinda obsessed with her.  The good news is that her urine test showed her kidney’s are still functioning, we just really need to keep them that way. So I’m thinking about trying one of those fountain water dishes for her, since she loves drinking from the sink.  I also mixed some tuna juice and water together and froze it, and gave her a cube this morning so we’ll see if she drinks that.

I finally went to a doctor last night, ok CVS Minute Clinic, and they said I have bronchitis.  Now I am fully loaded with 3 different prescriptions including a fun bronchial inhaler.  Apparently I should start to feel better in 2-3 days.  Somewhat worrisome though, is my blood pressure which was sky high at 144 over 90.  For someone who has a history of ridiculously though blood pressure, like 100 over 78, this is confusing.  I’m hoping it’s just the coughing and sickness that has driven it up, but I will be having it checked again when I start to feel better.

I wish I could work from home one day a week every week, it was awesome yesterday.

I had my performance review meeting this morning.  Apparently I’m bad at keeping eye contact with others when they talk to me.  Oops.  Although if that’s all people have to complain about, then I think I’m doing just fine.  I will gladly take my 8% bonus and 1.8% raise and work on my eye contact skills.

My head hurts, I’m blaming a combination of my coughing and high blood pressure.

Happy Leap Day! Real life is for March.  Hope you’re all wearing blue and yellow!

Out Cold

So I finally got to fill my prescription last night, and even when giving me the pills the pharmacist warned me not to take any until I was actually at home.  I now know why.  They should change the label from “May cause drowsiness” to “holy shit you will be knocked the eff out”.  I popped one at 7 pm, and not even an hour later I couldn’t hold my head up.  I was in bed and passed out by 8:50 and didn’t come to until 2:30 am.  Haha, it was glorious.  I did wake up with a nasty headache this morning, apparently also a side effect of the meds.

So yeah, yesterday my diet still consisted of fruit smoothies.  I did manage to choke down some dinner before I passed out, but I wasn’t really hungry for it, at least it stayed down.  I’m hoping my appetite comes back today, although it has yet to make an appearance.  Hopefully before I head to dinner with my Aunt tonight!

So I have a wedding to go to with Dar the first weekend in August, he’s in it, and I have no idea what to wear.  All of my wedding appropriate dresses got worn out last year with the 4 weddings I went to, and I want something new.  It’s being held here, and he’s in it and will be wearing a tux.  I was perusing Rent the Runway last night and saw this Nicole Miller, but I’m not sure it’s right for my boday.

Sigh, I really want to go to the BCBG outlet to check out some things, but I need to make time.  Someone help me, please.  Alright, I’m off to try to eat some food.  We’ll see how this goes.  Happy Wednesday, already!

Not Typical

Heyo, back to work after a long weekend, sucks doesn’t it.  If you follow me on Twitter, you know I ended up spending yesterday in the ER like this:

Dehydrated and vomiting every 10 minutes, no seriously, from 7 – 8 am I threw up every 10 minutes.  When I was still throwing up at 2:00 in the afternoon and couldn’t keep any water down, I had Adrienne take me to the hospital.  Then I threw up in the waiting room while waiting for them to see me.  Fun times.  Four hours later I got to go home with a prescription for anti-nausea meds that I couldn’t get filled because all the pharmacies were closed on Memorial Day, and diagnosed with some sort of nasty virus.  I bought Adrienne dinner to thank her for sitting with me all day, and myself a giant smoothie.  I’m feeling better today, but still not 100 %, and I still don’t really have an appetite, which is bizarre, but at least I stopped puking!

Before my trip to the hospital, the weekend was actually pretty amazing.  Friday night, the roommates and I headed out to the Nats game where we picked up $5 tickets and enjoyed the night.

A nasty thunderstorm rolled through, that postponed the game for a little bit, but luckily since we had seen the clouds coming, we’d managed to position ourselves next to the bar before everyone crowded under the concourse.

I called it a relatively early night and headed home by myself after the game ended.  Saturday, we were up bright and early to take advantage of the gorgeous weather, and our first official pool day.  A few weeks ago, there was a Groupon for a summer membership to the Capital Skyline Hotel’s pool for a super discounted price, so the three of us jumped on it.

The crowd at the pool is… interesting, to say the least.  There are a lot of men in teeny bathing suits, and I’m pretty sure the amount of straight men can be counted on one hand.  Needless to say, the people watching is spectacular.  We enjoyed a few hours at the pool before venturing over to Eastern Market for a late lunch/early dinner.

We ended up not going out on Saturday at all, the sun and afternoon margaritas kind of took it out of us, but instead spent the evening preparing for Sunday’s BBQ.  I made Black Bean and Corn salsa, and then proceeded to having burning hands and fingers for the rest of the night.  I blame the jalapeños.

Sunday before the BBQ, Adrienne and I decided to again venture to the pool to even out our tans and get some more sun.  We left around 2 to head home, grab our food, and make a quick change for the party.  The BBQ was officially called Crab Fest, and while the crabs were good, this guy was the star of the show for me.

That’s Watson, he’s fantastic, and I have about 1,000 more pictures of him.  But I suppose other people thought these guys were the real star of the day.

The BBQ was a lot of fun, and I was home and in my bed by 11 pm, unfortunately only to be woken up barfing at 5 am.  Sigh.  You win some you lose some.  I am at work today, mostly because the AC works better here than at home, and it’s going to feel like 105 degrees today.  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and did not end up in the ER.
