Unusual Events

So, as I told you yesterday I had dinner plans with my friends Michelle and Ashley last night, and in typical fashion we weren’t ready to be done hanging out (read, drinking) when dinner was over. ¬†We decided to have an impromptu girls night sleepover at Michelle’s house instead. ūüôā

Back to dinner.  The three of us only work until 3:30 each day, so when we arrived at the restaurant at 4:00 we were the only people there.  We started off dinner with a champagne toast to Michelle and her engagement.

pink champagne

Andre Pink Blush Champagne, clearly only the best for us.  While we enjoyed our champagne, we snacked on the warm rolls and some sort of dip.  I think it was olive oil and tomatoes, not positive, but it was delicious.  The three of us also shared an appetizer of Mozzarella sticks.

After we finished our champagne, we dove into the bottle of Pinot Noir that Ashley brought and ordered our main courses. ¬†I was having trouble deciding between three dishes, and ultimately went with the Fettucine Alfredo with chicken. ¬†It was good, although I really wish I’d ordered what Michelle got, Grilled chicken with spinach over gnocchi. ¬†I tried a bite of hers and it was fantastic, next time that is what I’m getting for sure.

We finished our bottle of wine and our dinners, and that was when we made to decision to head to Michelle’s and have more fun. ¬†Ashley and I made a pit stop at my house to grab clothes for work today, and then it was off to Michelle’s where we drank two more bottles of wine and watched some Sex and the City episodes. ¬†It was a fun night for a Wednesday, although we are all dragging a little bit this morning. ¬†I’m definitely more tired than usual, but surprisingly, not hungover. ¬†Another little thing that influenced our decision last night was that our boss is off today, thank god for small favors.

Anywho, back to the normal routine tonight, which means I’ll be hitting the gym for at least a 4 mile run, and then tomorrow is the weekend! ¬†Hooray! ¬†I think the bf is coming down on Saturday, and it’s my sisters last weekend at home before returning to college ūüė¶ so we’ll be hanging out with her. ¬†Alright, I’m outa here. ¬†Have a great day everyone!.

Just Call Me Grillmaster

I tried something new yesterday after work. ¬†Because of the heat, it was in the 90s, and my extreme lack of interest in my gym lately I didn’t run outside or hit the pool. ¬†Instead I browsed exercise TV for the Brooklyn Decker workout videos my sister was telling me about. ¬†Apparently she recently partnered with ELLE Magazine and created a “Make Better” line of exercise videos. ¬†The videos are found under the bikini revolution section of exercise TV. ¬†Last night I did two of the videos, the Cardio Body and Beauty Sculpt. ¬†Like Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred video, these videos are a 21 day workout routine. ¬†You can even download a workout plan that is designed to accompany the videos.

The videos seem pretty decent, I am definitely feeling it in my back today and I was really sweating by the end of the Cardio Burn. ¬†I’m probably going to try to integrate these videos into my workout routines for the next couple of weeks before I hit the beach for my week-long vacation, so I’ll keep you posted on how it’s going.

After my sweat sesh, I got to making dinner. On the menu last night were Turkey Burgers and roasted zucchini and squash.  To season the ground turkey, I cut up some red pepper, green pepper, orange pepper, yellow pepper, and onion and threw them all into the food processor.  After they were combined and chopped, I added the mixture to the meat.

I then added some garlic powder, McCormick’s Montreal Steak Grill Mates seasoning, and a few tsps of¬†Worcestershire¬†sauce. ¬†I mixed everything together to form the burger patties.

While the grill was heating up, I prepared the vegetables.

Yellow squash seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder on a piece of tin foil sprayed with olive oil non-stick spray.

Zucchini seasoned the exact same way.  Then it was time for everything to hit the grill.  The burgers cooked for about 8 minutes on each side (I make thick burgers) and the veggies just cooked while the burgers were.

With a yummy, melty slice of American cheese and some lettuce.

The veggies

All together now

Soooo good.  I love how the veggies are in every single bite.  There are four more burgers left for use this weekend, and I cannot wait!  My sister went and saw Sex and the City 2 last night at midnight so I am anxiously waiting for her to wake up so I can see what she thought!

Happy Thursday kids, one day closer to the holiday weekend!
