My Liver Needs a Rest Day

Hello!  I’m back from my beach vacation, well sort of, I think my brain is still there but I had a lovely time with my friends.  It was nice spending pretty much a whole weekend disconnected from the world, seriously we didn’t even watch TV, and now it’s back to reality :(.  I’ll try to make this long recap as painless as possible, mostly because I’m tired and don’t feel like writing a lot.

A fully stocked fridge makes for happy guests, what’s not pictured are the 11 frozen pizzas in the freezer.

So much for our plan to take it easy on Friday night so we all felt good for Seacrets on Saturday morning.

Cupcakes to celebrate my birth… they were delicious despite getting a little melted during the drive out.

Made it to Seacrets the next day by 11:05, and that my friends, is a huge accomplishment.  Waters and pain in da asses for everyone!

Not sure lemon drop shots were necessary, but they were delicious nonetheless.

There were two giant thunderstorms that rolled through on Saturday, one lasting about 5 minutes, the other a little longer.  Both times they kicked us out of the bay until it passed, and after the second our group had dwindled from 10 people to 6.  It didn’t deter us though, and once the storm passed we continued our party in the bay.

Things not captured on film on Saturday:

  • chicken fights in the pool upon our return to the house
  • massive amounts of pizza eating
  • a game of trivia
  • a game of cranium
  • a new game we made up called complete the lyric which was played until 4 am
  • how much everyone was struggling after Seacrets

Sunday we gathered ourselves and made it to the actual beach for a few hours, before another thunderstorm once again rolled in and ruined our fun.  We took cover at the Rusty Rudder for lunch to try to wait it out, but were unsuccessful, instead we watched tons of boat drama as the storm raged.

If I told you Sunday night involved three games of Trivial Pursuit, and two games of Family Feud and you picture a wholesome night of fun, you’d be wrong.  We ran out of booze and resulted to drinking Smirnoff straight, from a bowl, with a ladle.  Which probably explains pictures like this:

Laughing so hard I couldn’t stand up.  But yes, real life Family Feud takes my prize as the most fun game of the weekend, despite the fact that my “family” The Pitbull’s, was robbed!  The vodka had a specific role at one point, something about you take a sip when you get a strike, eventually it was just passed around for fun.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, probably why everything seemed so funny, and no one could stop laughing.  Anyway, yesterday everyone that was left packed up and hit the road to home, except for me and Dani.  We weren’t quite ready to bid farewell to the beach, so we spent a few last hours reading by the ocean before enjoying a Snow Crab leg feast at Crabby Dick’s and heading home.

We made it back to VA around 9:30 last night, and thus ended the final part of my birthday celebrations.  It was a good one, so I’m hoping the year is up to par.  And hey, it’s already Tuesday!

What I’m Loving

So apparently I’m a Gemini now?  That really makes more sense, because if this doesn’t describe me perfectly, I don’t know what does.

Since they lack the quality of conscientiousness, they are apt to fight a losing battle in any attempts they make to be moral
(in the widest sense of the word)

My mother will tell you, I will argue anything to the death, no matter how wrong I am about it, haha.  Anyway, sure glad I never got my Zodiac sign tattooed anywhere on my body.  Actually I’ll credit that to the Cancer sign being completely inappropriate, but whatevs.  Hey happy Friday!  How many of you have a three day weekend?  Sadly, I do not, but I get President’s Day off next month.

Last night I was all prepared to take the Body Works class again, but the instructor was away and they didn’t have a sub.  Lame, so I had to force myself to do weights on my own.  I did about 45 minutes of weights, trying to remember what we’d done in class last week and replicate it, and then a 15 minute cool down on the elliptical.  Some day soon I’ll actually start running again, I swear.  After the gym, I hit the Harris Teeter where I bought three bottles of red wine, and some lady products.  I already had the chocolate at home in the form of cupcakes.

Dinner was nothing spectacular, unless you consider frozen pizza spectacular, which I sometimes do, and a few glasses of wine to wash it all down with.  In honor of it being Friday, and not having much else to say today, I’m just going to end this post with some things I’m loving this week.

Cupcakes.  Specifically Georgetown Cupcake cupcakes.  This is my 4th one since Wednesday.  Please send help.

My new Starbucks coffee cup, because my other one was made for cold beverages, and my straw was starting to melt.  Thanks Adrienne!

This song.  What up Hootie.  I enjoy you much more as a country singer.

Daydreaming about warm weather and being back at Seacrets for my birthday again. (I just ate a finger full of icing).  Last but not least, that January is half way over, suck it winter.  What are you enjoying this week?

New Shirt Number 2

Yesterday I wore my second new shirt from the bf to the gym.  This one is a short sleeve Under Armour Heat Gear top, and I loved it.

The stripes are my favorite part.  Normally I’m not a fan of running in things with short sleeves because I feel like my arms are weighed down, but these didn’t bother me at all.  I also am not a fan of tight fitting shirts sometimes because they ride up, and cause some belly exposure, but this one stayed put.  The bf is two for two in workout tops so far.  Only one left to test.

I ran on the treadmill at the gym again, because even though the temperature was significantly cooler (like 79 degrees instead of 99) it was thunderstorming off and on all day and I didn’t want to risk it.

  • 4 miles
  • 37:30
  • 9:22ish pace

I walked for the first three minutes, so the pace was probably a little faster than that.  I know I ran mile 4 at about an 8:30 pace, all miles at a .5 incline.  Lately my Glee soundtracks were my running music of choice, but I’m getting somewhat tired of it (gasp the horror, I know!) so I rocked out to some Britney Spears during yesterdays run.  Her Circus album really is fantastic workout music, and my 4 miles were up in no time.  I’ll probably listen to that at the gym again today.

My sister was working last night and my mom took a late gym class, so I was on my own for dinner.  I took one boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut it in half, and covered it with mashed up Fiber One cereal and Cayenne Pepper.  Then I cooked it in my toaster oven, yup the oven is still broken, at 400 degrees for like 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.  I also made a Lean Cuisine Ravioli dinner to accompany my chicken.

Ravioli and Chicken Tenders

I knew the ravioli alone wasn’t enough food, and the addition of the chicken helped to keep me full.  After dinner I fully indulged my inner teen, and caught up on some ABC Family shows.  Make it or Break it and Pretty Little Liars.  Does anyone else watch Make it or Break it?  After all the bad things Lauren has done to all of them, how can they possibly think she is sincere about anything?  It blows my mind, really.  Pretty Little Liars I just watch and wonder how they do their hair most of the time.  I want to learn.

Anyway, TGIT people.  I’m off to Bethany Beach, DE tomorrow after work to celebrate my birthday.  One of my BFF’s has a house there, and then on Saturday we are spending the whole day at Seacrets.  If you’ve never been or heard of it, it’s pretty much the island of Jamaica set up in the Bay in Ocean City, MD.  It’s fantastic and I cannot wait.

Seacrets OCMD

Hopefully I’ll be lounging on one of those rafts all day long.  Enjoy your Thursday everyone, only one more day to get through before the weekend!  And only three more days until my birthday!
