Hungry and Cranky

Hello and happy Wednesday to you!  Ten days until I leave for vacation!  Should I be worried that the next 8 have rain in the forecast in Montego Bay?  That’s normal for the tropics, right?

So, for those of you who asked, I believe my sister’s curling wand is a Con Air one.  This one, to be specific, and I highly recommend it.  Apparently it also comes with a protective glove for your fingers, but you don’t really need it if you’re careful.

In other news, as awful as I know it is for me, I am dieting like a mad woman for the next ten days.  No booze, no cheese, no carbs, and a meal replacement shake instead of real food for lunch.  In other words, I am a hungry, cranky, bitch.  Making it through the afternoon yesterday was a struggle and working out felt like torture.  However, my teeny tiny bikinis arrived in the mail on Monday, and I wouldn’t mind being 5 lbs thinner and missing alcohol bloat when I go to put them on next week, so it’s worth it.

The workout was what seemed like the hardest run of my life, a hilly 5k alternating between 0% incline and 3% incline, followed by the pyramid push-up workout.  By the time I made it home for dinner, I was ravenous and ready to eat a toddler.  Unfortunately, toddler was not on the menu, but chicken and a roasted sweet potato were.  I made sweet potato wedges using cinnamon and nutmeg, and had some of the rotisserie chicken I purchased on Monday night.  I plan on having the same thing for dinner tonight.  Exciting.

I rounded out my evening sipping on some flavored seltzer water and enjoying my favorite night of TV.  Can’t wait until the SOA season finale next week.  Dar and I have are suspicious as to what may happen, and I’m hoping we’re wrong because it would make me really sad to be right.  Charlie Hunnam was shirtless and you saw his ass last night, so it was a great episode by my count.

Happy last day of November!

Come Onnnn Holiday

Well, if my commute this morning is any indication of what traffic will be like later, it’s not looking so bad.  There was absolutely no one on the road and I made great time on my drive in.  Last night however, not so much, but I’ll try to remain positive for right now.

My cross-fit workout ended up getting cancelled yesterday, so instead I did 2.2 miles on the treadmill and the pyramid push-up workout.  I again used the 5k sport training course that simulates hills and was huffing and puffing up that 3% incline.  The 56 push-ups again kicked my ass, and I felt like I had spaghetti for arms for the rest of the day.

I headed home after work to tackle the packing situation for my trip to PA, and I’m pretty sure I packed my entire closet. I couldn’t decide what I was going to be in the mood to wear, so I brought everything.  I packed 4 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of leggings for a 4 day trip.  I have problems.  In my packing though, I realized my closet consists mostly of blues and grays, so mom feel free to buy me colorful clothing items for Christmas.

Other things I accomplished last night?  I bought two new bathing suits for my trip in two weeks.  I was only going to get one, but then I remembered I’m going to Vegas in April and a sequins bikini is most definitely necessary.

Tropical Getaway

I figure, with those two suits, along with the Tory Burch sandals I scored at a Nordstroms sale not too long ago I am set as far as buying new things.  Now, I just hope they get here on December 5 like VS has promised me.
After I managed to squeeze the last clothing items into my large suitcase, I got around to painting my nails.  I have a new obsession, and it is the OPI Gold Shatter nail polish.  So far I’ve done red and gold, and now purple and gold.
The red and gold combo will absolutely be broken out for Christmas.  Alrighty, I’m off to countdown the hours until I can hit the road! I hope it’s around 2.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

Trivia Champion

Weeeee, happy Friday!  Now there’s only 2.5 days next week standing between me and Thanksgiving.  Well, hopefully, I’m assuming we will get to leave somewhat early from work on Wednesday.  Fingers crossed, because I would really like to beat traffic home.

Last night I hit the gym for the 4th day in a row.  I know who am I?  Don’t worry I have no plans to work out today.  I did a 15 minute warm-up on the treadmill, spending the last 10 minutes alternating between 7.2 mph for 2 minutes and 6.2 mph for one minute.  I was definitely warmed-up.  After the run, I moved on to my favorite oblique moves followed by something my friend Wes told me to try.  A push-up pyramid.  Do one push-up, rest five seconds, two push-ups, rest five seconds, etc until you reach 10.  Then work your way back down.

I made it up to 7, which if you do the math is actually 28 push-ups, and then back down to 1 makes 56.  Half-way through I had to switch my hand placement from flat on the floor to holding dumbbells because my wrists are so fucked up from gymnastics.  It was a killer workout and my chest, arms, and abs are sore today.  Success!

I ran into one of my co-workers (obviously, it’s a work gym) who informed me that there was a happy hour going on that he was heading to when he finished his workout, and passed on an invite.  I took one look at the traffic app on my phone, saw that it was at “9 and building” and figured why not go have a beer.  A beer turned into 3 beers, and a night of trivia at the bar.  Wanna know the one question I knew the answer to?  “In what year did Phil Collins win an Academy Award for his original song You’ll Be in My Heart?”

Me: “Duh, that’s the song from Tarzan, I know for a fact I watched that movie on DVD when I was a Freshman in high school.”
Everyone: Blank stares
Me:”It was totally the year 2000.”

Bonus points for getting the year exactly, and not just within the 2 year range given?  Two, boo-ya.  Mostly people were just appalled by the fact that I was a Freshman in high school in the year 2000.  I also may have agreed to a cross-fit workout next week with two other coworkers.  Damn me and my drunken big mouth.

I made it home by about 10, where I proceeded to stay up way too late watching the two-hour Private Practice episode.  It was good, and also quite sad.  Now I’m tired today, and ready for a relaxing evening at home.  Bring it weekend.

Have a great one!
