What is this Place?

For someone who wrote about not wanting to go out or socialize this weekend, I sure ended up doing a lot.  A five hour dinner with Kacy and Steph, all day lounging at the pool on Saturday followed by a BBQ, and more pool lounging on Sunday.  It was a fun and entertaining weekend.

Since Steph was in town for work, her, Kacy, and I met up for dinner at Fire Works in the Court House area of Arlington.  I’d only been one other time, but knew that Garlic Knots were a must order menu item.  I’m pretty sure they are the only thing that cured me of my hangover the last time I was there.

Also, I am a Margarita Pizza addict, so when I know there’s a good one on the menu, it’s all I can think about.  I ordered one for dinner and ate everything but two slices.

The food was amazing, as was the conversation.  I don’t think I’ve heard the word vagina used more times in one dinner ever in my life.  Those two are always a great time, and I had a blast laughing my ass off and telling embarrassing stories.  Great times ladies, great times.

Saturday I drug my ass out of bed and headed to the pool with the roommates bright and early so we could score some lounge chairs before it got crowded.  On Saturday’s you have to pay to park, so we always hoof it from the metro station, it’s somewhat of a hike that I am never happy about.  But hey, can I count it as exercise?

Don't mock the romper, it's the most comfortable item of clothing, ever

Saturday night we ventured back into DC for a Farewell BBQ for some kickballers moving to Charlottesville.  I have no pictures because I plopped my ass in a chair and didn’t move the entire night, I made the beer come to me.  However, other people did take some, so I’ll steal those eventually.  It was a great party, and we kicked the keg before 1 am.  Yay for boozey friends!  I crashed into bed sometime around 2.

Sunday at the pool was much less reserved than Saturday, bizarre right?  They had sections reserved for bottle service, and we were amazed when they brought out a “stage”.  Our amazement became pure delight when we say what was going to happen on that stage.

Booty shaking and popping galore.  It was amazing, and somewhat outrageous.  Best Groupon purchase ever.  The party was just getting started at the pool when we peaced out at 4, I guess those people don’t have 9-5 jobs?  Anyway, it was a fantastic weekend, and I’m glad I decided to be social after all.  I hope you all had a great one!

Get Your Good Time On

Why is it that last week took forever to end, but the weekend flew by?  Sunday night came way to quickly for my liking, although at least I only have three days of work this week until I head out to Chicago for the weekend.  My weekend kicked off Friday at noon with a trip to the Leesburg Outlets, where I was extremely successful.  It was a gorgeous day for the scenic drive and ride on the historic White’s Ferry.

Luckily we made it across without getting stuck in the middle of the river, yes that’s been known to happen if there hasn’t been a lot of rain recently.  Then it was on to shopping and my first stop was the BCBG outlet, where I not only found a dress for August’s wedding but also a few other great things.

Thanks to everyone who offered up their opinion when I tweeted the picture of me in the dress, you were um, helpful? Haha.  I also grabbed another sundress and strapless top.

They’re both made of the same stretchy fabric and have the same sort of design, loose and flowy with a sash that ties around the waist.  I had also picked out this really cute romper from BCBG, but after looking at the price tag, decided it was not in my budget.  Then it was on to the J.Crew outlet, where I also managed to find some really cute summer work appropriate and regular life shirts.

I’m actually wearing that first gray one today.  Love them all.  Also, this post is mostly for my sister who requested I post pictures of what I bought, sorry if it’s boring to everyone else :).  My last stop of the day was the Lacoste Outlet where I picked up two things for Dar since I never bought him a “real” birthday present and felt kind of bad about that.

The rest of Friday involved a trek into Georgetown to see a friends art in a gallery, but it was closed when we got there, and then lots and lots of wine.  Surprisingly we were still up and at the pool by 11 am on Saturday morning to grab some sun before kickball and the flip cup tournament.  Obviously this guy was the star of the show on Saturday.

But we didn’t do too badly ourselves, Dani won MVP for a great catch in the outfield, I had 3 RBI’s, and Adrienne carried the team during the flip cup tournament.  We were all home and in bed by 9:45, don’t judge us.

Yesterday Dani and I spent a good 5 hours at the pool enjoying the people watching and relief from the heat, oh and a few Arnold Palmer’s.  Amazing.  It was a great weekend, and I now definitely have a solid base tan going on.

Hopefully the first part of this week goes by quickly, because I cannot wait to get on my plane Thursday and head to the mid-west!

Not Typical

Heyo, back to work after a long weekend, sucks doesn’t it.  If you follow me on Twitter, you know I ended up spending yesterday in the ER like this:

Dehydrated and vomiting every 10 minutes, no seriously, from 7 – 8 am I threw up every 10 minutes.  When I was still throwing up at 2:00 in the afternoon and couldn’t keep any water down, I had Adrienne take me to the hospital.  Then I threw up in the waiting room while waiting for them to see me.  Fun times.  Four hours later I got to go home with a prescription for anti-nausea meds that I couldn’t get filled because all the pharmacies were closed on Memorial Day, and diagnosed with some sort of nasty virus.  I bought Adrienne dinner to thank her for sitting with me all day, and myself a giant smoothie.  I’m feeling better today, but still not 100 %, and I still don’t really have an appetite, which is bizarre, but at least I stopped puking!

Before my trip to the hospital, the weekend was actually pretty amazing.  Friday night, the roommates and I headed out to the Nats game where we picked up $5 tickets and enjoyed the night.

A nasty thunderstorm rolled through, that postponed the game for a little bit, but luckily since we had seen the clouds coming, we’d managed to position ourselves next to the bar before everyone crowded under the concourse.

I called it a relatively early night and headed home by myself after the game ended.  Saturday, we were up bright and early to take advantage of the gorgeous weather, and our first official pool day.  A few weeks ago, there was a Groupon for a summer membership to the Capital Skyline Hotel’s pool for a super discounted price, so the three of us jumped on it.

The crowd at the pool is… interesting, to say the least.  There are a lot of men in teeny bathing suits, and I’m pretty sure the amount of straight men can be counted on one hand.  Needless to say, the people watching is spectacular.  We enjoyed a few hours at the pool before venturing over to Eastern Market for a late lunch/early dinner.

We ended up not going out on Saturday at all, the sun and afternoon margaritas kind of took it out of us, but instead spent the evening preparing for Sunday’s BBQ.  I made Black Bean and Corn salsa, and then proceeded to having burning hands and fingers for the rest of the night.  I blame the jalapeños.

Sunday before the BBQ, Adrienne and I decided to again venture to the pool to even out our tans and get some more sun.  We left around 2 to head home, grab our food, and make a quick change for the party.  The BBQ was officially called Crab Fest, and while the crabs were good, this guy was the star of the show for me.

That’s Watson, he’s fantastic, and I have about 1,000 more pictures of him.  But I suppose other people thought these guys were the real star of the day.

The BBQ was a lot of fun, and I was home and in my bed by 11 pm, unfortunately only to be woken up barfing at 5 am.  Sigh.  You win some you lose some.  I am at work today, mostly because the AC works better here than at home, and it’s going to feel like 105 degrees today.  I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and did not end up in the ER.
