Core Work

Heeey, happy Friday everyone, we made it.  I had a meeting at work yesterday afternoon that went until after 5 pm, so traffic was a monster by the time I finally hit the road to drive home.  It was going on 7 pm by the time I finally got home, so I opted to do my workout there instead of at the gym.

As I mentioned yesterday the Daily Burn ap provides workouts for you to do three days a week, and yesterdays was a core workout.  I did a 10 minute warm-up in my living room that consisted of jumping rope, mountain climbers, jabs, and hopping back and forth over my yoga mat.  I remembered the cardio warm-up moves from back when I used to do the Brooklyn Decker workouts on exercise TV.  Whatever, they worked.  Then I did the core moves.

Not particularly difficult by any means, but I’m hoping it was affective.  I actually enjoyed the Superman’s the most because I tend to forget to work those muscles.  After that workout I decided to walk to 7-11 to pick up a frozen pizza and sprite zero to enjoy with my vodka for dinner.  From my house and back it’s about 1.6 miles, I know you were curious.

This weekend is looking pretty typical so far, no plans for tonight as of yet, and then kickball shenanigans tomorrow.  I’m not making the trek home for Mother’s Day because I have to go home for my sisters college graduation next weekend, and I refuse to do that drive two weeks in a row.  No thank you.  Who’s got fun plans for the weekend?  Mother’s Day related or  not.

Basket Case

I’m frazzled, and slightly stressed out, and the weather forecast for tomorrow isn’t helping.  I’m sort of just keeping my fingers crossed that the heavy rain and thunderstorms hightail it out of here by 5:50 pm tomorrow night and that my flight takes off on time.  Blah.

Anywho, as you all know last night I got my hair did, and I love it.  So here are some pictures, as promised.

I think I owe the hair salon my first born now, but I feel like a new woman.  There’s an all over dark brown color on the majority of my head, and then some auburn highlights thrown in on the top and around my face.  She took about two inches off my length and added in some more layers and angles.  The best part?  The shampoo chair reclines with a foot rest and massages you.  When the girl asked if I wanted to put my feet up and the massage chair on I was like really, does anyone ever say no to that?  Surprisingly they do.  Here’s a close up of the highlights that I took this morning in daylight.  Sort of, it’s cloudy.

In honor of Fat Tuesday, I ate an entire frozen pizza for dinner.  It wasn’t one of those ridiculously small Kashi ones either.  This is how my convo with Dani went the second I finished.

Me: “Dani, I just ate an entire frozen pizza.”
Dani: “Well, it was thin crust right?”
Me: “Yeah.”
Dani: “That’s like only half a pizza then.”
Me: “That’s true, and there were no toppings.”
Dani: “Well then that’s only like 1/4 of one, you’re fine.”
Me: “Phew, that’s a relief.”

Thank you Dani, for helping me justify my pizza binge.  I’m somehow supposed to fit a 6 mile tempo run into my schedule tonight.  I don’t want to, but I’m hoping it will be a good source of stress relief.  Then it’s home to finish packing, and make sure I don’t forget anything.  Here’s to hoping today doesn’t drag on for as long as Monday and Tuesday did.

Blogger Date!

The rest of the day at work yesterday just went on and on, I couldn’t wait to get out of there when 3:30 rolled around.  I took care of some of the weekend errands I had to run during my lunch break, picked up a six-pack of Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale and a bottle of Raspberry Vodka, so I just had to stop at the grocery store on my way home.  I got Alex and I turkey for sandwiches, eggs and cheese for breakfast, and the things I need to make chicken marsala for dinner tonight.  Then I came home to get ready for my meet-up with Hope.

We met at the bar at 6:30 and had a blast!  One of the things I love the most about meeting other bloggers is that you feel like you already know so much about them, so it’s never awkward.  Hope is just as sweet and pretty in real life as she seems on her blog, and we realized we had a lot in common.  We talked and enjoyed some drinks, but unfortunately I had to cut our date early because boyfriend was getting into the Trenton train station at 8.  I probably could have sat there for hours more chatting with Hope.  Can’t wait to hang out again girl!

I hightailed it to the train station where Alex was patiently waiting for me, and people watching in Trenton, which is highly amusing.  Neither one of us wanted to go out to eat, so we just picked up a frozen pizza and came home and broke open the Pumpkin beers.  I planned to save them for today, but Alex assured me would could get more.  We watched the end of the Phillies game, who pulled off an amazing come from behind win, and about half of an episode of Boardwalk Empire before both of us were starting to doze off on the couch.  Yup, we went to bed at 10:30 on a Friday night.  At least that means I’m well rested and up bright and early for my 9 mile training run.

I’m currently snacking on a Chocolate Chip CLIF bar and drinking some water before I head out to tackle the 9 miles ahead of me.  I just got rid of the chafe marks from last week, so I will definitely make use of my Body Glide today.  Plans for today are still up in the air, we might go to one of the wineries around here or pick some pumpkins and carve them.  Obviously I’m rooting for the pumpkin picking, but I think boyfriend would rather go to a winery.  We shall see.  Ok I’m off to stretch and finish getting ready for this run.  Happy Saturday everyone, it’s going to be a gorgeous one!
