Egg… Something

So this week really seems to be flying by, perhaps since I was asleep for the first few days of it?  One week ago I was getting ready to fly out to Wisconsin to visit my lovah, so what’s that mean, like 9 weeks to go?  Waaaaaaaah.  I hate wishing away time like this, but it’s kind of hard not too.  Oh well.

Anyway, I cooked last night.  Nothing exciting, just some sort of frittata/casserole/egg bake thing.  It was good, but not perfect, I need to mess with the ingredients more.

I’m trying to remember exactly how many eggs this was, I think it was 9, because I ate 3 in an omelet the other night.  So, 9 eggs, spinach, red, orange, and yellow pepper, zucchini, and some frozen turkey meatballs.  I think the turkey meatballs were the flavor that was off.  Not spicy enough, and not the right flavor to go with the eggs.  I think next time I’d use either bacon or regular sausage.

I sautéed the peppers, zucchini, and spinach before stirring them into the eggs along with some garlic, pepper, sea salt, and onion powder.  I don’t have an oven safe pan, so I just poured everything into a giant Pyrex bowel and popped it into a 350 degree oven.  Thirty-five minutes later it was done.

After another five minutes of cooling time, I could finally dive in and eat dinner.

It was good, and don’t get me wrong, I will eat the remaining three slices, but like I said something was a little off.  The rest of the night was relatively uneventful, and involved a few episodes of Mad Men.  Shocking, I know.

Due to Tuesday night’s activities, I was not feeling a workout yesterday, but because of a company lunch outing today I knew I had to get off my ass and go.  It wasn’t the greatest workout, but it was better than nothing I supposed.  18 minutes on the stair climber thingy, followed by some weights.  Leg press, calf lifts, bicep curls, dumbbell rows, tricep kickbacks, and dumbbell push press.  I was going to do some Spartacus circuits, but just didn’t have the energy.  Oh well.

I’m heading home tomorrow for the weekend to booze my face off while celebrating Michelle’s upcoming wedding, so that should be fun.  Here’s to hoping there’s no traffic!  Oh, and I totally still need to buy her a shower gift, oops.  See ya later!

Last night was kind of perfect.  I didn’t have time to work out during they day, so I hit the gym after work  putting me home a little later than usual, but that ended up working out nicely.  I parked my car at the curb in front of my house, and the second I stepped out I was hit with the smell of charcoal burning away.  That’s a great smell.

Inside the roommates were preparing peppers and onions, and met me simply with a “sausage and peppers?”  I grabbed my book, a glass of wine, and sat my ass on the back porch with the two of them for the rest of the night.  The three of us were so engrossed in our books, me the second Hunger Games book, Adrienne the first, and Dani with the Anthony Kiedis autobiography.  It was so quiet that you could hear the peppers sizzling in their tin foil.

We stayed out there until the mosquitoes staged an attack and it was too dark to see the words on the pages of our books.  Everyone relocated to the living room where we all continued to read until separating to our various bedrooms to sleep.  I finished the second book of the Hunger Games trilogy last night, and am officially addicted.  I started on the third while laying in bed, and will probably finish it soon.  I’m very excited to see how these movies end up.

Yesterday’s workout was 33 minutes on the elliptical followed by chest and triceps, and ouch I am feeling it today.

Chest Press Incline dumbbell Chest Press with Twist Tricep Kickbacks Dips (assisted pull up machine) Tricep Pushdowns
10 x 40lb 12 x 10lb 12 x 10lb 8 x 100lb 12 x 17.5lb
10 x 40lb 12 x 10lb 12 x 10lb 8 x 90lb 12 x 17.5lb
10 x 40lb 12 x 10lb 12 x 10lb 8 x 90lb 12 x 17.5lb

For the incline dumbbell chest press, they have you twist your arms together at the top so that your pinkies are touching.  It’s not easy.  Also, I almost fell off the dip machine because my arms were shaking so much, that would have been embarrassing.

Today is like my Thursday, which is excellent, because I’m so excited to see Darren.  I’m on a 5:30 flight out of DC on Thursday, but I kind of want to see if I can get on an earlier one.  Originally I thought I would have to come in to work that day, but now that I don’t I want to get to Chicago sooner rather than later.  I know United has a policy where you can check into an earlier flight on the same day for $75, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it.  I guess we’ll see on Thursday.

Happy Flag Day!

Another BBQ Night

Soooo you can pretty much just read last Tuesday’s post again for today, because the Monday night’s were exactly the same.  It was 90 degrees again here yesterday, so of course the roommates and I once again broke out the grill.  The menu was exactly the same and the food just as delicious.  Steak, peppers, onions, and shrimp (which I don’t eat because the texture weirds me out).

The only difference was our friend Will came over to hang out with us while we sat around outside.  The four of us are heading up to NYC on Friday night, and we were trying to brainstorm some weekend plans.  Pretty much the only thing we came up with was eating pizza, bagels, and drinking.  I’m sure the rest will fall into place.

Will just got back to the States after spending the last few years over seas with the army, so he’s looking forward to having some fun.  And to seeing pretty ladies, seriously, I’ve never seen a guy more distracted when a decent looking woman comes on the TV.  It’s actually pretty funny.

Last night’s workout was a quick 35 minutes on the elliptical followed by some push-ups and ab work on a bosu ball.  I was in a hurry to get home to the nice weather and food, so it was a short but sweet sweat session.  I’m thinking about trying out spin tonight, if I can make it to the gym in time for the 5:30 class.  The weather here is nightmarish today though, so traffic is going to suck a big one.  We’ll see what happens.

Also my right contact lens is seriously pissing me off.  The damn thing won’t stay clear for more than 3 seconds at a time.  I suppose I should find an eye doctor down here and get a new pair, huh?  Blaaaah.  Well, happy Tuesday!
