The Weather is as Drunk as I Was

So I ended up bailing out of my interval run last Wednesday night when my hip started hurting 1.3 miles into it. I took Thursday – Monday completely off and hopped on a treadmill tonight to slowly ease into a run and see how I felt. The verdict? 3.12 miles in 30 minutes without any popping/grinding in my right hip whenever I landed on that foot, so we’ll call it a success for now. We’ll see how I feel tomorrow. I’ve decided that if I can’t do the runs I need to do this week that I’m probably going to have to pull out of Cherry Blossom on April 6, keep your fingers crossed for me that it doesn’t come to that.

I had a fabulous weekend that mainly revolved around the 3rd annual St. Paddy’s “Kegs” and Eggs Party that my roommates and I started throwing back in 2012. The party starts at breakfast time and goes until the last person passes out. It’s always a delightfully drunken time where people in their late 20s and 30s try to pretend they’re still in college, and we once again seriously lucked out with the weather, especially after this winter. 70 and sunny, FTW!

My shirt says “I Can’t Keep Calm I’m Irish” because… duh

We had some college buddies come in from out-of-town, which is always fun, because who doesn’t still love a big sleepover? I woke up on Sunday at 5:45 am, hurting, because someone (ahem it was not me) could not remember how their night ended and wanted me to tell them. This person is lucky I kind of like them, or I might have murdered them, or thrown up on them (ironically enough this almost happened a few hours later anyway, oops). There was more sleep to be had eventually, thank the lord. LUCKILY (read that with all the sarcasm) it started snowing on Sunday night and when I woke up on Monday morning there was about 10 inches on the ground so I got another day in the house to recover.

If it snows one more time, I’m cashing in my frequent flier miles and heading to Mexico. Who’s coming with me?

St. Paddy’s Day

If you know me at all, you know that when it comes to drinking I have a ranking system in place that dictates my most favorite drinking occasions. Drinking that takes place in the morning, outside, and lasts all day is probably my number 1 or 2 on the list.  Maybe only over taken by day drinking, outside, at a tailgate. My Saturday started at around 10:30 am with some Baileys spiked coffee, and lots of eggs and bacon, and corned beef and cabbage.

And then some more baileys, Jameson, and Guinness… all at once

All week the weather had been threatening us with a high of 47 and rain, so when the sun came out around 11:30 we took full advantage of it and moved outside to the backyard.

I’m posing like an idiot, but please note the sunshine and beer pong

Eventually the weather did turn and it got a little chilly and rained a little bit, but luckily by that point the alcohol had been flowing for a while and no one seemed to mind.  We just lit a fire in the chiminea and moved the beer pong table into our drinking room (shed).

The boys were really into building the biggest fire, ever.

Eventually we ran out of beer, and some of the group who hadn’t already Irish goodbyed (fitting) decided to venture out for the evening. I was hammered, and on the verge of probably making decisions I’d live to regret come Sunday so I decided to stay home and go to bed. However, first I decided to do all the dishes, vacuum my new rug, and scrub at any stains with carpet cleaner. Perfectly normal hammered behavior. My un-hungover, Sunday self was really thanking Saturday night me in the morning. Cleaning up is so much less painful when you’re drunk.

Because of my 8:30 pm bedtime on Saturday, I was up with tons of energy on Sunday. I made myself a nice breakfast, baked cookies, went grocery shopping, and prepped all of my meals for the week. That’s why I love day drinking… assuming you pass out as early as I did, you wake up feeling pretty decent the next day. Hope you all had a lovely weekend as well!

Weeknight Fun

Today, I am moving slightly slower than normal for a Friday.  As I mentioned yesterday, it was Adrienne’s birthday, and to celebrate we had a small gathering of friends, also known as an orgy (10 Things reference, anyone?) over for a BBQ.  I drank a little too much wine, and stayed up a little too late, but whatevs it was fun.  It was also somewhat chilly, so we took advantage of that and lit our chiminea for the first time in a long time.

There were burgers, dogs, macaroni and potato salad, cupcakes, chips and salsa, all of the things that make BBQs delicious.  I think the birthday girl enjoyed her little party, and hopefully she isn’t too tired today.

I’m planning to hit the road up to PA around 3:30 this afternoon (even though I’ve technically worked enough hours this week to have the whole day off) and hopefully will make it there without hitting too much traffic.  I have dinner plans tonight with my mom, and then tomorrow I’m spending the day in Philly getting my hair did and probably spending more money that I really shouldn’t.  My sis arrives home from California on a 7:35 flight, so after I pick her up we’ll hopefully have a lovely sister date.

I hope you all have some fab plans for the weekend as well.  Happy Friday!
