Self Improvement

Hey, hey, hey and happy Tuesday to you! I had off yesterday for President’s Day, and as the first day off since the Christmas holidays it was mucho appreciated. I thank you all for your feedback on my last post, I’m going to try to start updating more and see how I feel about it. I do like writing here as it makes me feel like much less of a crazy person, but I still get a little uncomfortable since it was such a point of contention in my last relationship.

I had a lovely V-Day date with my roommate, we got our nails done and drank beer and ate wings. Personally, I feel every holiday should include beer and chicken wings, but that’s just me. Her and I also had a great conversation about how we generally feel like we’re getting ourselves more together lately, and how much better we’re feeling because of it. I’m working on three years of living in Arlington, and only feel like I’ve given it a real chance recently. For the first two years all I could do was countdown until the time when I could leave and move away, and I think it really fucked things up for me. I didn’t let myself become close to the people I was around all of the time, and as a result they didn’t let themselves become close to me.

I’ve been making more of an effort lately to see people, and hang out, and get to know people and it’s paying off because they’re finally getting to know me too. I’ve gotten a lot of “I had you pegged completely differently” lately, and I’m getting invited to things I almost surely wouldn’t have a year ago. Does that mean I have 5 weddings and 2 baby showers between April and October, yes, but I’m excited! My roommate, Adrienne, was away for the long weekend and I usually would have used that as an excuse to not go out and do anything. Because ya know, I can’t go alone, but I didn’t. So with that in mind, let’s dive in.

Friday I drank all of the Bud Light on the planet, while playing darts and other bar with some of my work friends. I can usually muster a pretty decent game of Cricket, but saweet jesus was I on point on Friday.

This was my second double bull in a row, I went on to hit about 6 more

I was home by like 10:30-11 which meant I was up by 8:30 on Saturday. I had no intention of sitting around the house all day by myself doing nothing, so instead I took myself out on a little date. Sure, I wore my glasses but it was nice! I hit up the Courthouse theater, which is amazeballs with it’s reclining leather seats and saw Silver Lining’s Playbook. I really liked the movie, especially all the Eagles nonsense and Brad and Jen (not theeeee Brad and Jen RIP) are super cute together on screen. After the movie I went to dinner, and sat at the bar alone eating and drinking, until my friend Sharon joined me a few hours later.

Sunday did involve lots of lounging around, until I ventured out for trivia that night. I wasn’t the only one who thought a Sunday night trivia adventure could be fun, because 16 of my friends also showed up. We had a great time taking advantage of the Monday holiday. Even though we all SUCKED at trivia. Now I’m not sure if this makes me sad or just adult-like, but the best part of my weekend involved things I purchased for the house yesterday. One was a rug that I’ll show you once I get it (or you can go look at AP’s because I copied her since I want to be her ūüėČ this is not news to her) and the other was a 5 drawer organizer for my bathroom.

Anyway, that’s your weekend update. This week looks to be pretty standard, I’ve got a bridal shower and bach party this weekend that I’m looking forward to, but that’s about it! Hope y’all are lovely!

OCD Tendencies

Oh, ello, and happy Tuesday to you. ¬†I’m in a relatively good mood today because I’m wearing my new favorite outfit, seen here on my Instagram feed. ¬†If you’re not following me, you should, I post lots of cute cat pictures.

Yesterday was a pretty productive and enjoyable Monday, mostly because I was slow at work and spent most of my time organizing my design thoughts.

Just ignore me while I sit here with scissors and magazines, NBD

Eventually, all these thoughts will make it into a binder, with plastic protective covers and paint samples and given to my love so he can get to work :). ¬†I have a feeling there may be some disagreement over paint covers, but I let him buy these chairs, so I think I’ll win. ¬†Every time.

Have you ever seen anything so hideous in your life? Didn't think so.

Gah, they hurt my eyeballs just to look at them. ¬†Men. ¬†The organization didn’t end with the work day, instead I decided to bail on yoga, hit up the grocery store and tackle my disaster area of a room. ¬†Since it’s now April, I decided winter is officially over and the time to switch over my closets is here. ¬†My boots went back in the respective boxes, and out came the sandals, wedges, and open toed heels. ¬†Sweaters were moved to make room for colorful tank tops and t-shirts, and now my closet is 1000 times brighter.

ta da!

Every time I clean and organize my room, I wonder why it took me so long to do so. ¬†It’s a much nicer place to hang out in now. ¬†Next on the cleaning agenda is to vacuum and scrub the bathroom. ¬†It’s a process friends, don’t rush me.

I never got hungry for dinner, and I’m still not very hungry, so I’m probably dying. ¬†I’ll be sure to keep you updated on that. ¬†Good news is though, my mom gave me some of her Allegra and it is working miracles! Bad news, I only have one pill left. ¬†Where can a girl get some more of that? My ears are unclogged for the first time in two months and it is glorious.

Alright, well I’m off to go flip through more design magazines and scour the HGTV website. ¬†If you need me, I’ll be the crazy one surrounded by tape and scissors at my desk. ¬†Smooches.

Thanks for the compliments on my Easter dress yesterday! ¬†It’s from Victoria’s Secret, my go to for cheap summer sundresses actually. ¬†They’re always cute and comfortable, in fact, one summer when I was a hostess at a restaurant in Philly we used one type as our uniform.

"Hi, welcome to Bongo!"

That one was really short though, made it interesting when I had to climb a ladder to get to the loft to change the music.  I typically wore a bathing suit bottom underneath at all times.  That was the best summer job ever, I got to work outside every day, on a boat, on the Delaware, and if it rained we got to go home :).  I miss the Bongo days :(.

Sorry for the tangent, anywayyyy, last night I went to the gym with the intention of running 3 miles.  I ran one, decided I felt like I was going to vom or pass out, and decided to do a walking work out of sorts.  I alternated between a 6-10 incline for two minutes each, bringing it back down to a 4 and jogging at 6.0 mph for 2 minutes after each time at 10.  I ended up doing something like 2.6 miles in 30 minutes.  Whatever.  Then I did 10 minutes on the arc trainer.

Our fitness facility at work opens next month, and you have to have a fitness assessment in order to join, so I signed up for mine yesterday. ¬†So that will happen sometime in May. ¬†It will be nice to workout at lunch time and right after work without having to drive an hour in traffic. ¬†I can’t wait.

Since I have a visitor arriving in 2 days ;), I spent most of last night cleaning my room. ¬†It was seriously looking like a bomb exploded, I wasn’t even sure if I still had a floor. ¬†Also, since I brought back my entire summer wardrobe and didn’t bring any of my winter clothes home, I had to make some big time room in my closet. ¬†I switched out all my heavy sweaters and winter shoes and boots, to the smaller closet and organized the summer stuff in the makeshift closet I built when I moved in.

Much better, and now I don’t have to go digging around on a closet floor to find the pair of shoes I’m looking for. ¬†Although I am missing one of my favorite pair of gold flat sandals, which is really pissing me off. ¬†Yes, you do see pink and teal pants hanging in my closet. ¬†I’m sorry for my¬†preppiness, but not really.

So, we don’t have central air in our house, just window units in all our rooms, and technically the living room, but we haven’t put that one back in yet. ¬†Yesterday when I got home, it was so hot downstairs that I felt bad for Pumpkin. ¬†So today I locked her in my room with her food, water, and the A/C. ¬†I hope she’s not pissed at me, but I have to keep the door closed and I don’t want her to get too hot. ¬†Sorry Pumps, it’s for your own good!

Anyway, it’s Tuesday, yuck, but I might be having dinner with some people tonight? ¬†Maybe? Today kind of snuck up on me. ¬†I can’t wait for Thursday to get here though. ¬†Laterrr.
