Bikram… Spin

Well I made it to spin last night, and I loved it, and hated it.  I’m pretty sure the last time I took a spin class was when I was still in college and my roommates were the instructors.  I always swear it off because my hooha hurts almost immediately after, yes even though you are barely in the saddle, and yes it hurts right now.

It’s funny to take a spin class as a runner who can run 10 mile races and half marathons and considers themself in shape, because spinning is a whole different kind of workout.  No lie, I was tired and sweating 10 minutes in.  That could also be because the fans in the spin room are broken and absolutely no air was coming in or circulating.  Yup, you read that correctly, I have never sweat so much in my life.  The manager joked with me that it was probably like Bikram spin, yeah dude, it was.

But yeah, spin was good, and I’ll definitely go back because I can see it really supplementing my cardio and giving me a kind of workout that running and ellipticalling don’t.  The music was my kind of tunes and the instructor was kick ass and tough, although I do feel bad that he had to teach the 6:45 class right after.  I would have passed out, or slipped off my bike due to sweatiness.

In other unshocking news, I’m already having issues with packing for the weekend.  We’re taking a bus, there will be walking from said bus to hotel, and the forecast looks like this.

I also have to pack tonight because we’re going to the Phils/Nats game tomorrow and I won’t have time.  So far the only thing on my list is rain boots. Uuuh, help?  I hate packing for things this time of year, the weather is weird, it’s always debatable whether a coat is necessary or not, and of course it’s rainy.  Blah.

Also, I have an apt at the lady doctor tonight which I am dreading, because I know I have to get weighed.  I have not stepped on a scale since last July, and I like it that way.  No matter what the number is I know I won’t be happy with it, and I especially won’t be happy with it today because I know it’s higher than it was last July.  It’s going to depress me, and I don’t really want that because despite knowing I’ve gained a few lbs, I don’t think I look that bad.  Ugh, freakin lady doctor.

Well anyway, at least it’s Wednesday and I have a three day weekend to look forward to, even if it is going to be a rainy mess!

Stuy Town Greenmarket

Sunday on our way to brunch, Alex and I walked through the Stuyvesant Town Farmers Market.  While it is nowhere near the size of the Union Square one on Saturday’s, for being 10 steps from Alex’s apartment it’s pretty great.  I can’t for the life of me figure out why he doesn’t buy things from here on a weekly basis!  The fruits and vegetables looked fresh and gorgeous, not to mention gigantic, and they even had local, hormone free meats for sale.  The Stuy Town Greenmarket runs from June 6 – November 14, 9:30 am until 4 pm on The Oval.

Last night I had a little bit of trouble making it to the gym.  It was Monday, I was tired, blah blah blah, but I made it.  I did my easy 4 miles at a 10 minute pace, and then stretched for a bit before calling it quits and heading home.

I actually got some work done before the Yankee game started at 8.  That unfortunately did not go as I hoped it would.  Luckily I had a feeling it was about to get ugly, and turned it off and went to sleep when it was still only 2-0.  Imagine my disappointment when I saw the final score of 8-0 this morning.   Good thing the bullpen pulled through, huh?  Ugh, game 4 tonight with Burnett starting.  I never have good feelings about him, so we’ll see how this goes.

I am off from work tomorrow, so I’m not sure when I’ll get a post up.  Don’t think I’m dead if I don’t post in the morning, haha!  I’ll be back as scheduled on Thursday though, so don’t worry.  Alright everyone, have a good Tuesday!

Friday Fun

I made the 4:53 train out of Hamilton to NYC on Friday afternoon, and arrived in a very (not the) windy city.  Wind gusts for Friday night and today are forecast to be up to 50 mph.  Awesome!  The train wasn’t too crowded, and was a double decker new one, so I listened to some Carrie Underwood and took care of some paper work during my ride.  Unfortunately when I was about 15 minutes outside the city, Alex sent me a BBM informing me that he was stuck at work late and wouldn’t be done by the time I got there.  Meh, whatever, no big deal.  I sat at the bar across the street from his apartment enjoying an Octoberfest and a Vodka and Club until he was finished.

Alex eventually made it home around 7:30 and collected me from the bar so that we could head to the apartment to make dinner.  I always complain that he never has any food in his house and we have to eat out for every meal, so he went grocery shopping on Thursday and actually picked up stuff for us to have!  Dinner last night was marinated chicken, green beans, sweet potatoes, and rice.

Everything was delicious, and we watched the Yankees suck it up for the first 7 innings before staging the most amazing come back in the 8th.  We kept it fairly low-key last night since we are running a 5k in Central Park this morning, and watched the end of the baseball game in bed.  Boyfriend actually passed out before the game was over, I’m surprised my screaming didn’t wake him up haha.

Yesterday Lee asked what kind of shirt I was wearing with my jeggings, and I said I would post a picture of my outfit if I remembered.  So, here it is.

Long-sleeve t-shirt from the GAP, DSW Chinese Laundry boots, and jeggings from the Limited.  I liked this shirt with them because it was a little bit longer and slightly loose.  Alright, well I’m off to Central Park with the boyfriend, hopefully we don’t blow away haha.  I’m treating this 5k as part of my 5 mile training run scheduled for today, so I’m not trying to PR or anything, just going to have fun with Alex!
