A Few Things

Whoa… two posts in the same week, I KNOW. I don’t actually have anything meaningful or important to say (when do I ever), but I kind of felt like shooting the shit this morning. Also I wanted to say thank to everyone who weighed in on Monday’s post, you guys are kind of great at making a girl feel like she’s not actually going insane, even if I am just slightly.

Anyway, back after I had my heart ripped out, stomped on, put in a blender and buried in the ground, I started getting bi-weekly manicures. It made me feel pretty, and helped to cheer me up, and when I paint my own nails it lasts maybe two days before chipping or my nails breaking. Also, it’s not that expensive and my nails stay painted for two weeks without getting messed up. I had an appointment yesterday, and the salon had just gotten in the new OPI James Bond collect, and omg is it fun.

this is GoldenEye and Moonraker

Yup, there is something so fun about sparkly gold nail polish. I can’t wait to try all of the colors. Also, I figured this combo was good for Halloween? Just go with it. I also cooked last night, for like the first time since June? I made Shepherds Pie (sweet potatoes instead of regular) for myself, Dani, and her boyfriend, and it turned out just as fantastically as I remembered. I just wish it had been 50 degrees last night instead of 70. WTF October?

my hands still smell like onions and garlic

Umm yeah, so that’s really all I’ve got for you today. OH! I’ve been listening to Taylor Swifts new album (the deluxe available only at Target, obvi) and I’m obsessed. Specifically these two songs:

Happy Wednesday!

Brunette Moments?

So, you guys know I’m kind of ditzy right?  I say and do some really dumb shit, often.  Like that time I accidentally “liked” an ex-boyfriends relationship status change on Facebook.  That was embarrassing.  Oh, I never told you all about that?  It started innocently enough, I saw said ex-bf was now “in a relationship” and 8 people had “liked” the status. Obviously I wanted to see who had done so, but instead of clicking on “people who like this” I clicked “like”, and then there it was “Kelly McCormick and 8 others like this”.  FUCK!  After I recovered from my heart attack, I unliked the status immediately and began to wonder if ex-bf still got a notification about it.  If he did, he was kind enough to ignore it and not remark, but holy shit, did I feel like an asshole for a few days.

After I moved to Virginia in 2010, I noticed I was missing my favorite pair of Coach gold sandals when it came time to  bring out spring and summer clothes. I searched and searched, both in VA and PA, and after a year convinced myself that I had lost them.  Left them somewhere to never be recovered, probably at an ex-bf’s house where they may have been thrown away.  I sucked it up, bought some new sandals and moved on.  When I went up to PA two weeks ago, I was digging around in my closet hoping I’d maybe left some sneakers there so I could go to the gym with my sister, and what did I find?  The missing pair of gold Coach sandals, in a shoe box, in my closet.  Guess I never thought to search there.

Here they are, making an appearance with my new coral pants. Doesn't matter that it was 47 degrees out this morning.

My toes are bright orange and my nails sparkly blue.  Apparently I was feeling silly when I picked out my colors at the salon last night, or like a 6 year-old girl.  Whatever.  The eye-brows have also been tamed, and I’m nearly ready for Vegas.  Damn though, being a woman is expensive.  However, having freshly waxed eyebrows makes me feel like a brand new woman, so that’s worth the $15 or whatever I paid last night.  (So bad at paying attention to prices).

In fact, I recently inquired with some of my ladies as to what a normal price is for a large sectional sofa, as it occurred to me I really had no idea.  Apparently, the $5000 Crate and Barrel charges is not normal, go figure.  Darren will be happy to learn I’m trying to take lessons in bargain hunting and being frugal.

This post was really random, but it will probably (definitely) be my last one until Monday or Tuesday, unless I pay for wi-fi on the flight tomorrow,  but I’ll probably be too busy drinking with my roommates to do such a thing.  Wish me luck in Vegas, homegirl can’t drink like she used to!  Oh and Happy Happy 30th Birthday to my friend Michelle! Miss you!

Oh the Things that Excite Me

So, in the most exciting thing to happen to me in a while, I switched my nail polish from my usual Black Cherry Chutney to An Affair in Red Square!

I figured it was a little more festive for the wedding tomorrow.  My toes are still my favorite shade of purple though.  Speaking of the wedding tomorrow, I’m willing to bet the lovely bride to be is none to pleased that there will be a Phillies game on during her wedding reception.  Her fiance is the type to never miss a game, so the fact that it is a playoff game should make things interesting.

Also exciting?  This shirt, that was too small on me all last year, and last worn as shown here on Christmas Eve 2009, fits again!  So while my thighs and ass don’t appear to be losing any circumference at least my upper body is?  Also, wow we are pale.

So yeah, I’m heading home right after work today, and praying that traffic doesn’t make me cry.  I also need to stop drinking water around 2 pm so I don’t have to pee every five minutes.  Here’s to hoping I make it home in time to watch the majority of the Yankees game tonight.  Also, here’s to hoping they win and move on.

That’s really all I’ve got for ya today, perhaps I’ll check in on my Facebook page over the weekend with some updates on what I decide to do with my hair and wedding photos.  Cheers to the weekend!  Well for me, sorry if you have another day of work tomorrow.
