Sigh… Life

Well I’m glad you all find Darren as amusing as I do!  Unfortunately I made the mistake of telling him that, and now he’s an even cockier SOB than usual.  Also, to further elaborate, Darren is a painter so he’s constantly in and out of people’s houses and telling me about their horrible decorating skills.  I think that also helps to explain why a paint brush is sexy to him :).

In other unfortunate news, I’m almost positive I somehow managed to strain my hamstring slightly.  It’s tight and sore (twss) and pulls all the way down through my calf when I try to touch my toes.  Which at the moment I also cannot do despite usually being able to go flat handed on the ground.  Sigh, life is such a PMSing bitch sometimes.  To compound that, along with sharing her wardrobe with me, my roommate Dani has also let me have some of her germs this week.  I’m popping gummy vitamins like it’s my job, hoping to keep this sore throat and cough at bay until after Sunday.

Anyway, so I didn’t run last night.  Instead I did 30 girly push-ups, drank two Corona Lights (ok officially cutting out the booze starting tonight!) and ate tacos with the roommates.  I think Tuesday dinners should always have a theme, just to keep them from sucking so much.  We’re thinking next week should be Asian.

Umm, so I’m not really sure what kind of work outs I’ll be doing the rest of the week, what with this nagging hammy pain and all.  I do plan on “racing” Sunday no matter what, I’ve had enough muscle strains, pulls, and tears in my life to know when they’re serious or not.  (Side note, one time I had a silver dollar sized hole in a muscle in my back.  It felt like a tight rubber band was constantly keeping me from bending over and would snap me back into place).  Yay for gymnastics injuries!

So who else is running Cherry Blossom this weekend?  Who’s run it before?  Any tips?  Like are there secret Porta Potties that are typically less crowded?  Will the metro realllllly get me there on time?  How crowded can I expect it to be?

Uuuuh, yeah

So it would seem most of you are in agreement upon the sexiness of Brooks Laich, although as my sister pointed out, that picture does not do his baby blues justice.  Google him, it’s worth it.  Happy hour last night was a fun success, and there were about six of us who hung out until around 8:30.  Bar nachos were consumed for dinner, and $2 Blue Moons were drank.  I made it home in time to catch Modern Family and Cougar Town, um completely didn’t realize both were new episodes last night!  Both were hysterical as always.

I’m currently sitting here wondering if I really feel like walking all the way back out to my car to retrieve my water bottle.  I’m thirsty, but I could just use a cup all day.  Sigh, decisions decisions.  Maybe I’ll just wait a few hours until I go out to the post office, then I can accomplish both things at once.  Yes, I really am that lazy.

Tonight I have a date with the gym scheduled, and then possibly taco night with the roommates if they can wait until I get home from the gym to eat that is.  I promise to make it a quick workout and be home by 7!  Either way, I’m defrosting some ground beef so I will be eating tacos for dinner.  Surprisingly this week went by pretty quickly for being the first full week after the holidays.  I’m somewhat shocked that it’s Thursday already.  I’m thinking about asking to work from home tomorrow because it’s supposed to snow overnight/in the morning and I don’t feel like dealing with the commute.  We shall see though.

I’m really trying to think of something even remotely interesting to say today, and while I do have lots of thoughts I’d like to share, I can’t really write about them at the moment.  (How’s that for cryptic and mysterious, did I suck you in?) Instead I will just drive myself crazy with my own thoughts for a while.  Alright, well I give up for today, maybe I’ll be more interesting tomorrow.

Memorial Day Weekend

If it’s at all possible, I feel more tired after this long weekend!  Or maybe it’s just that after the extra day off, I find it even harder to drag myself into work.  Yeah that’s probably the case.  Anyway the weekend was full of eating, drinking, poolside lounging, and even a trip to the beach.  It was exactly the way I wanted to kickoff the summer!

Friday after work, the bf, sister, and I celebrated the start to the weekend with a Mexican fiesta.  I cooked chicken in the crock pot all day for some delicious chicken tacos, and we drank Margarita’s.

I found the recipe for this Black Bean and Corn Salsa on Anna’s blog, and omg was it good.  Although for future reference I will exercise more caution when cutting up a jalapeño pepper because damn did my eyes start to burn when I took my contacts out.  Whoops!

And of course, and icy cold Margarita.  The rest of Friday night was just kind of spent relaxing, enjoying some cocktails, and watching TV.  Saturday morning, I woke up and went on my 2.5 mile run.  It went really well, no knee pain, and I averaged a 9:10 pace, which is faster than I’ve been, so that was exciting.  The bf and sis hit up the gym, and after they got home the three of us lounged at the pool for the rest of the day.

Saturday night we went out with a few people to watch the Flyers game, sucks that they lost but it was an entertaining game and very high scoring!  Sunday was pretty much just a repeat of Saturday.  We spent the day at the pool, and then I came home and grilled dinner for everyone.  The same turkey burgers from the other night, grilled corn on the cob, and roasted zucchini and yellow squash.  Yummmmmy.

Yesterday, my sis and I woke up bright and early to get a run in before heading to the beach for the day.  We did 2 miles, and man was it already steamy out at 8 am.  My knee did not feel as good as it did on Saturday, we’ll see how it looks at PT tonight.  The beach was absolutely perfect yesterday.  It was warm, but not so hot you were sweating, and the cool ocean breeze kept you from having to jump in the freezing cold ocean.

Not a cloud in the sky.  Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to only be an hour away from the beach.  After the beach, we ventured over to a Memorial Day BBQ at a family friend’s house where thunderstorms but somewhat of a damper on the plans, but it was still fun.

Me and my sis

The bf and myself, someone forgot to put sunscreen on their kneeeees, haha.  Dinner was fantastic, there was a BBQ turkey which I have never had before but it was amazing!

Homemade whole grain garlic and cheesy bread.  I would have been content with just a whole loaf of this :).

And what is a bbq without potato salad?  Not a bbq in my opinion!

I lover summertime and bbqs!  So that’s what I was up to this weekend, did you all have a nice Memorial Day?
