Ladies Day Out

Yesterday I had the pleasure of spending the day with my old college roommate Jill.  She lives in Washington DC, and was busy with grad school for the past three years, so it had been almost two years since we last saw each other!  We met out at King of Prussia Mall yesterday afternoon for manis and pedis, lunch, and some shopping.  My last mani/pedi was almost as long ago as the last time I saw Jill, so I definitely needed one.

nails Pretty pink toes and nails.  This is the OPI color Cajun Shrimp, a definite summery color.  Love it!  After pampering ourselves, we moved onto eating.  I was very excited to learn that a Seasons 52 opened at King of Prussia this summer, and suggested that as our lunch destination.  I explained to Jill about its seasonal menu and fresh ingredients, and how nothing was over 475 calories and she was instantly as excited as I was to try it.

We both started our lunch with the Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka and Raspberry cocktail, and oh my god I have a new favorite drink.  It was so delicious, and tasted exactly like Raspberry Iced Tea.  We were both sad when our cocktail shakers were empty.

For my lunch I was torn between the Grilled Chicken Caesar Sandwich and the Portobello Mushroom Turkey Burger.  Jill decided on the chicken sandwich so I went with the turkey burger.

Grilled Portobello mushroom turkey burger under melted mozzarella with fresh tomato slices.  It was so good, I ate the entire thing.

Served with a fresh greens side salad.  If there is one thing that I’ve learned from blog reading, it’s that you don’t go to Seasons 52 and not order dessert.  I think Jill and I started drooling the second the dessert platter was brought to our table.  We decided to order two, well because why not, and both selected one.  I picked the Mango Cheesecake, and Jill the Chocolate S’more cake.

The chocolate cake had mini marshmallows and white chocolate shavings on the top, and chocolate mousse and cake underneath.  The mango cheesecake was sweet and delicious with chunks of fresh mango and whipped cream topping.  I think we polished them off in 2 minutes flat.  I left feeling completely satisfied, but not uncomfortably full.  I will definitely be back to Seasons 52 to sample more items on the menu.

Jilly and I after our delicious lunch.  We returned to the mall to do some shopping and walk off our meal, and then sadly it was time to say goodbye before we knew it.  Hopefully it will not be another year and a half before we have the chance to see each other again.  Although, I’m pretty sure it won’t be ;).

I spent the rest of my Saturday night at home hanging out with my sister and her boyfriend.  We rented The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus.  As it was the last movie that Heath Ledger filmed before his death, I was curious to see how they would work in Jude Law and Colin Farrell also playing his role, since he died during filming.  The way they did it really worked for the film.  It was really an interesting movie, and I liked it a lot.  It was a tad trippy at times, but an interesting premise, with an original plot.

My sister and her boyfriend cooked tacos for us for dinner, it’s so weird to not be the one making dinner, haha!  They did a great job though, and the tacos were delish.

I have no idea what’s on the agenda for today, there are some fierce thunderstorms in our forecast, and it’s looking a bit gloomy at the moment.  I think we may head to brunch in a little while, but I think today is just going to be spent relaxing in the AC.  Have a great Sunday everyone!

Caribbean Jerk

Ahh summer Friday’s in the office, what a treat.  Our office does summer hours (work an extra hour Mon-Thurs and take a half day or half day plus vacation day on Friday’s), so half the people aren’t here and the other half only work a half day.  Unless of course you are me and have the distinct treat of not being able to participate in summer hours because you’re not a permanent employee, no matter that I’ve worked here for 2.5 years.  Not that I’m bitter or anything.  Anyway moving on.

Last night I did the Brooklyn Decker workout video on exercise TV again, and I’m really liking it.  I wore my Garmin so that I could try to gauge my heart rate and calories burned, the calorie counter didn’t work but my heart rate ranged from about 138-156 for the 30 minute workout so I’m guess anywhere from 220-270ish calories.

After my workout, I moved on to preparing dinner.  I had chicken marinading in my new favorite, Lawrys Caribbean Jerk and chopped up some peppers and onions to also marinade.  Then it was onto the grill for kabobs.

With some Annie’s Organic Whole Wheat White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese on the side.  Seriously this marinade is to die for.  As my sister put it, “I want to swim in this marinade.”  I’ve made chicken kabobs twice so far this summer and am already through a whole bottle.  Ya out there Lawrys?!?! Send me some coupons or some free Caribbean Jerk marinade, pleeeeasse.

Dessert was a glass (or three) of red wine and a chocolate covered strawberry, all while enjoying 3 hours of Grey’s Anatomy on Lifetime and then too many hours of the Real Housewives of NYC.  I think I need a TV intervention.

Today after work, my sister and I have “reservations’ at Chick-Fil-A to try their new spicy chicken sandwich for free.  Not going to lie, I’m pretty excited about this.  You can go to their website and search for a location near you, and make a reservation anytime between now and June 5.  The sandwich will be added to the menu on Monday.  I’ll be sure to let you all know how it is, haha.

Tomorrow I have a date with my BFF and old college roomie who I haven’t seen since Christmas of 2008!  So sad, we used to share a house and a wall and now we never see each other :(.  We’re going to get our nails did, have lunch, and do some shopping at King of Prussia Mall.  I am beyond excited.  Jilly I’m pretty much treating this like a date and plan on getting all dolled up for you ;).

That’s about it as far as plans for the weekend go, what are you all up to this weekend?  Have a great Friday!
