And it’s Over

Well just as I suspected, my Valentine’s Day was anti-climatic and uneventful.  My lover claims he sent flowers, but said flowers never showed up.  I bet it has NOTHING to do with the fact that he waited until late Monday night to order them.  Nope, nothing at all :).  Anyway, flowerless and dateless or not I still treated myself to a delicious dinner and wine.  First though, there was a workout to get out of the way.

Day 30 of the Live Fit program had me dreading it since the moment I looked at it; chest, abs, and cardio.  So. Many.  Push-ups.  Side to side push-ups?  They can go die.  So yeah, after my 1.5 hours in the gym I was more than ready for the dinner I’d been thinking about all day.  On my way home I made a little detour to the Italian Store and picked up two giant sandwiches and two bottles of wine for Adrienne and myself.  We both ordered large Napoli’s on soft bread with all the toppings.

Pepperoni makes this our spiciest creation, with lean capacola ham, and buttery soft mozzarella cheese.

It was fantastic, and I ate the entire thing (I think a large is a 10 inch roll) and relaxed on the couch watching TV with some wine for the remainder of the evening.  Oh, and I spent an exorbitant amount of money on a plane ticket to Vegas.  Happy Valentine’s Day to me!  Also, now I want another sandwich.

So I’m working a half day tomorrow, and then I’m on the 6 pm flight out of here to Milwaukee for a nice long weekend.  Plans include looking at houses, dinner and a movie, perhaps some sightseeing, and hanging out with friends.  Obviously since I’m flying tomorrow, there is rain in the forecast for here and snow in WI, typical.  Here’s to hoping everything gets out on time and goes smoothly!

Lastly, yesterday I stumbled across a new song from Taylor Swift featuring The Civil Wars.  It’s on the Hunger Games soundtrack and so good.  Even if you hate T Swift, give it a listen because it’s a completely different sound for her and sounds kind of haunting.  I’m a fan.  Here’s a link to the video.  Happy Wednesday!

Not What I Originally Planned

So I had a recipe post all prepared for you guys, and then I realized I’m dumb and never finished putting my photos into it last night.  So now I’m at work, and the photos are on my computer at home, so you all will just have to wait until tomorrow.  Sorry.  It’s a good one too, because it involves cheese, and pepperoni, and pizza sauce, so how could that be bad?

This past weekend was mostly spent willing my body to get better, while alternately hacking up a lung.  Can that count as an ab workout because they’re somewhat sore from coughing all weekend.  Despite my infected lungs, I still plan on tackling day 1 of Phase 2 today, back and cardio!  That is forced excitement by the way, but I’m thinking with traveling on Thursday, and being in Wisconsin until Monday workouts are going to be few and far between. (Read as non-existent).

Also, as far as Live Fit goes, I highly doubt I’ve lost a single pound or inch anywhere, and technically I took measurements when I started so I can check this, but I don’t want to depress myself.  If anything, I’m pretty sure my thighs and ass have gotten larger because my pants are definitely tighter there.  However, I am definitely stronger, and am really starting to see some definition in my arms.  I’m really hoping that reintroducing cardio in these next four weeks helps me, um, lean out some.

I only have 3.5 days of work this week, so I’m hoping they fly by, and then next week is a short week also!  Then, it’s almost March and the springtime of craziness and travel for my bff’s wedding begins.  I finally acquired some Las Vegas appropriate clothing on Friday evening, because as you know most of my wardrobe comes from J. Crew, and that’s not exactly appropriate for bachelorette shenanigans in Sin City.  I needed sparkles, and short skirts, and now I have both of those things.

I Can’t Move my Arms

Because I am a huge follower and intrigued by things easily, after 4 weeks of listening to my ladies discuss Jamie Eason’s LiveFit workout plan every day, I finally caved and tried it last night.  I figured what the hell, I’ve been lacking in workout motivation and anything that tells me not to do cardio for four weeks sounds pretty fun.  Last night was Phase 1, day 1 aka chest and triceps.

I was pretty proud of myself for knocking out all 3 sets of 12 wide push-ups in boy fashion, fast forward to the narrow push-ups and I nearly fell on my face when attempting the first one.  In fact, even once I dropped to my knees I could barely squeeze them out.  I was laughing at how ridiculously hard they felt after all the chest exercises.  Anyway, my arms felt like jello by the end and I could barely shift gears in my car during my drive home.   This morning, every shift illicited a groan, and I thought I was in pretty good strength training shape!  Day 2 tonight.

I made it home despite the difficulties maneuvering my car, and spent the remainder of my evening working on Dar’s Valentine’s Day gift.  Ok, that’s a lie, it’s really a gift for me because I probably want it more than he does but I’m going to play it off as something for him.  He’ll appreciate it a little bit at least.  Worst comes to worse it’s something that will look nice sitting on a coffee table someday.

Other ridiculous things I’m currently contemplating are whether or not I’ll look like a giant creep if I go see Beauty and the Beast 3D alone on Saturday afternoon.  I’m thinking yes, but I might do it anyway because it’s my absolute favorite Disney movie.  Ever.  In fact, my nickname when I was little was Belle.  Ya know, Kel Bell, Belle, it works.  Also, should I walk back out to my car to retrieve my water bottle that I left in there?
