Gimme, gimme

It’s take your child to work day.  They are everywhere.  Praise baby Jesus for the invention of headphones.

What day is it, Thursday?  These short weeks keep throwing me off… ummmm, when did I last blog?  Tuesday?  Alright, let’s catch up.

I mentioned in my last post that Dar and I picked out flatware and dinner plates that we like, and I thought I’d share in case anyone (ahem hi mom) wants to buy us a gift ever.  This is the dinnerware set I am quite partial to, and Dar doesn’t hate it, which is good enough for me.

As far as flatware goes, he likes this ugly plain crap, but I persuaded him to have better taste once again.  This is the Mesa Flatware, and I like how shiny it is.

We didn’t actually purchase anything, but I made extensive notes (of course I did) so hopefully once we have a house I can start ordering things and shipping them to it.  Oh right, the house thing.  So, on Tuesday we put an offer on another house, lucky number 4?  The sellers countered yesterday, and we immediately countered back, so we’re hoping they accept our latest today, since our offer and theirs were not too far apart number wise!  This is what it looks like:

And now you know about as much as I do, since I haven’t actually seen this place in person.  Talk about trust in a significant other, amiright?  Ok, here’s one more picture of the inside…

Omgeeee wood paneling!!!  Why do people do things like that?  But hey, check out those gorge hardwood floors already in place.  The layout of this place is more traditional, still a single story ranch, but it has a formal dining room and two living areas, which I like.  So pleaseeeee god let everything go smoothly.  Also, as you can probs tell, the seller’s have already peaced out, so we’re hoping they’re as motivated as us to get this done quickly.

Workouts for the week thus far:
Monday: Walking around C&B
Tuesday:  3 mile run, abs
Wednesday: 2 mile run, biceps and triceps
Thursday: spin at lunch hopefully

Yup, I’ve totally run 5 miles this week, which is the most since oh say December?  Someone’s b-maid dress felt a little tighter than she remembered it when she tried it on Monday.  Shh, don’t tell the bride, it still fits.  At least my return to running gave me an excuse to order these obnoxiously bright 2170s yesterday.  Woo!  Oh, and I got them for only $84.

Well, this was longer than I intended it to be, but my coffee is really strong this morning so I’m rambling.  I suppose that’s what happens when I stay up until 12:30 on a weeknight reading 50 Shades of Grey.  Laterzzz.

Men are Funny

That man I love, he’s a funny one.  The two of us have been brainstorming ideas of things to do when I’m out there visiting next month, since for the first time we have no real plans or obligations.  Things I’ve come up with:

  • touring the numerous breweries
  • checking out the venue I loved
  • visiting the Milwaukee Art Museum
  • go to the Pabst Mansion

The other night he called me and we had a conversation that went something like this:

Dar: How would you feel about winter camping the weekend you’re here?
Me: Is that a joke?
Dar: No, it could be fun if we got another couple to go.
Me: By winter camping do you mean renting a log cabin with heat and indoor plumbing? Because that I’d do.
Dar: Well no, I meant like an actual tent outdoors.
Me: (laughing hysterically)
Dar: Alright, I guess that’s a no.

Oh, that’s a no, that’s a hell no, but it was a nice thought.  I think we’ll be sticking with my plan of activities.  Oh and add to that list dinner and a movie date to see The Vow for Valentine’s Day.  That may be what I’m most excited for.  Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams all in one movie? Hooray!

Anyway, so I just took 4 Ibuprofen because this week’s workouts are absolutely kicking my ass.  Everything is sore, and I couldn’t even sleep on my right side last night because it was too painful.  I’m also struggling to lift my arms over my head, which is making doing my hair wildly difficult. Waah.  Luckily, my legs have finally stopped being sore from Monday, just in time to work them out again today.

So, thankfully it’s Thursday, because this week has seriously been dragging.  So much so that I thought today was Friday, imagine that disappointment when I realized it wasn’t.  I’m just hoping to make it through the day and my leg workout.

It was an emergency

Late yesterday afternoon while sitting at my desk, I was hit with the chocolate craving to end all chocolate cravings.  You all know me well enough by now to know this is unusual, as I typically would much rather take a bag of potato chips to the face than eat a cookie.  It’s not even that time of the month!  Anyway, since all I could think about was chocolate, dipped in chocolate, and then rolled in more chocolate, I figured it was a craving that HAD to be satisfied.  After one mention of my desperation, I was directed toward Picky Palate where I perused the various recipes for bars and brownies.

When I saw a link for Gooey Cookies and Cream Double Chocolate Cake Bars, I died and fell out of my chair.  A few clicks later, the recipe was printed, in my purse, and I was bolting out of work to the grocery store.  By 5:30 I was in my kitchen, apron on, and elbow deep in butter and Devils Food Cake Mix.  Yes, I made these before I even made dinner, priorities people.  It was a long 26 minutes while the baked.

I did manage to stuff a turkey sandwich down my gullet while waiting for these babies, but once they were out of the oven all bets were off.  I didn’t even wait for them to cool fully before I scooped some out with a spoon.  (Yeah, mine are no where near as bar like as the pictures on the recipe, but whatever they’re still awesome).  They are gooey and chocolaty, and just overall amazing.  It’s going to take all my willpower to not eat the entire tray tonight.  Chocolate craving satisfied, for now.

Thankfully I managed to do all 4 workouts in week two phase one this week, so I didn’t feel too bad for indulging.  You know what I think is weird that I noticed yesterday?  My left shoulder is significantly stronger than my right, and I’m right handed.  Although I am left handed when it comes to some things, like playing pool, weird I know.  Just a fun fact for you guys on this Friday.

This weekend will hopefully hold some snow, although I think we’re just supposed to get freezing rain, stupid, crafting, and a “date” with Darren.  We’re thinking about being all corny and watching a movie together while Skyping.  Yup.  I also want to make a Valentine’s Day wreath I saw on Pinterest.  I filed my taxes this morning, now here’s to hoping the gov gives me back some money in a timely fashion. Happy Weekend!
