So many prizes!

It’s my WFH day, also known as my most favorite day of the week, yes even more of a favorite than Friday.  I get to sleep a whole 1.5 hours later than normal and stay in sweatpants all day long, if I so choose.  Today however, I’m having lunch with my lovah Kacy to lessen the withdrawal symptoms so I’ll probably shower at some point.

Yesterday after work, I begrudgingly made my way over to the gym for my leg workout (barf).  10 minute warm-up on the treadmill looked like this:

2 min at 4.0
6 x 30 seconds hard 30 seconds easy (9.o for the hard, standing on the sides for the easy)
2 min at 4.0

Followed by:
2 x 15 freehand squat jumps as a second warm-up

Three sets of each of these done as a superset
10-12 Plie dumbbell squats
10-12 lateral non-alternating barbell squats
10-12 calf raises

All wrapped up with 20 minutes on the treadmill.  Personally, I think running after lifting legs should be considered by the government as a form of torture.  I felt like I was barely lifting my feet up off the treadmill and was in danger of tripping and face planting for the whole 20 minutes.  Needless to say my legs were complete trash after, and they’re still pretty trashed today.

When I finally got home at the end of the day, I was greeted by 3 packages waiting for me!  I think half the fun of online shopping is receiving everything it the mail a week or so later.  One of my prizes, was my latest Bridier Baubles purchase, the Cisco Cuff (Hook).  I think it makes a lovely addition to what’s normally happening on my wrist.

Package numero due was my new running shoes!  My old ones had holes in the back of the heel so these were more than necessary.  I love the brightness of them, and I can’t wait to wear them because they’re sooooo cushioning.  Yay!

The third thing was my new pair of Toms, they’re red with stripes and adorable, and I’m probably wearing them to lunch today so I’ll take a picture then.  And, friends, I must confess I’m still waiting for one more thing and I hope it arrives a day early so I can pack it for my weekend in PA.

Oh, and one last thing, Happiest of happy birthdays to my lovely roommate and friend Adrienne!

Rest Week

Well, I lifted legs yesterday and have unfortunately decided I need to take a few more days off from working out to let my back fully recover.  I’m still having a really hard time raising my elbow higher than shoulder height without it pulling, so I don’t want to risk irritating it even more. Lame.  I really wish I could feel ok about not working out, but it terrifies me.  Darren says to eat less to counteract the no workouts, but um I already feel like I’m not eating much and I like food.  So no to that idea.  Hopefully by next week I’ll be fully recovered, and then I can just jump into week 1 of Phase 2.

I watched a lot of movies over the weekend, once of which I had never head of before, but it had my lova (Ryan Gossling) in it so I gave it a chance.

Normally Kirsten Dunst bothers me, but not so much in this movie, I really liked it.  As you can see there, it was a “Spellbinding True Crime Story”.  That’s true, it was quite suspenseful and full of intrigue.  It’s on Netflix Instant Queue so I totally recommend it for a lazy weekend day or movie night.

Tonight, the roommates and I are reinstating a tradition that used to go on at least once a week and going out to dinner; just the three of us.  It’s been quite a while since we’ve done anything together, so we decided it was about time.  Other exciting news is that my sister is coming to visit this weekend!  She has requested crock pot meals and exploring DC, so we’ll see what I can figure out.

Well, I just noticed that it’s 63 degrees outside, so I think I’m going to put my sneakers on and go for a walk.  There’s a nice little bike trail that circles my work complex.  Happy Tuesday!

The Perfect Pair

Remember last week when I mentioned I should probably join J. Crewics Anonymous?  Well, that’s not a joke, I seriously need to, but luckily for you my addiction may have resulted in locating the PERFECT pair of jeans last night.  Now, I am admittedly a jean snob, with a closet so full of Seven’s and Paige jeans that Darren frequently wants to punch me in the face.  So, finding the perfect pair of denim is like winning the lottery. Pay attention ladies!

It all started thanks to a disabled vehicle on the George Washington Parkway that brought the two lane, no shoulder highway down to one lane, creating a 45 minute delay.  I’d rather stab my eyes out with hot pokers than sit in 45 minutes of traffic after work, so after the gym I decided to stop at the Montgomery Mall on my way home.  Mistake number one.  My next mistake was wandering into J. Crew, because we all know it is impossible for me to go in there without finding 1000 things I “must” have.

Before I knew it I was in the dressing room trying on 50 things, the “perfect” jeans among them.  From the second I pulled them on, I knew they were a keeper.  They fit like a glove in all the right places, while somehow still managing to be extremely comfortable.  It didn’t hurt that they were two, TWO, sizes smaller than my previous J. Crew denim purchase.  These are the pants, and here is a picture.  Do yourself a favor and go now and buy them.  You’re welcome.

I also ended up with these pants, because a good pair of stretchy black cropped dress pants is always a good investment.  Unfortunately the overcharged me for them (psh like I don’t know how much everything costs) so I have to go back to the store today to get refunded.  Pray for me and my will power.

Also a miracle? That I could fit any pants over my thighs at all after lifting legs before my mall adventure.  Seriously, they must be magic pants.  In fact, I almost fell down the stairs in the mall because my legs gave out while walking down them.  I’m blaming the wide set sumo squats for that.  The legs and calves workout on last night’s agenda totally kicked my ass, literally, and I’m extremely tempted to push today’s shoulders and abs until tomorrow.

Anywho (you have no idea how tempted I am to type anywhoodle half the time) it’s Friday the 13th which is fun.  Perhaps I’ll entertain myself by watching a scary movie tonight.  Still pretty sure I’m going to go see B&B tomorrow, but since I completely blew up my January budget last night, we’ll see.  Happy weekend!
