All of the (Random) Things

Hello, hello! Yesterday we had a “snow” day, which can basically be summed up with this. We went from a forecast of 6-10 inches of snow, to about .79 inches of snow.

Blizzard 2013

Cool DC, cool. Whatevs, I’m not going to complain too much because my office was still closed and I got to to spend my Wednesday day drinking and painting all of the things with chalk board paint. I’m not kidding, if we didn’t rent our house I would have totally painted one of our walls.

My roommate Adrienne and I also painted some chalk labels on glass spice jars she bought. We’re super motivated when day drinking red wine. I also went on Amazon last night and ordered some chalk pens in tons of fun colors, because writing with regular chalk is annoying and not pretty.

Last weekend I was up in PA to take care of some wedding related things with my mom and sis, had to get my highlights re-done, and pick out wedding jewelry :). While at the hairdresser, in a moment of crazy, I decided to chop all of my hair off and immediately proceeded to have a nervous breakdown. I’m not joking, I think I almost passed out when I saw the long strands of hair on the salon floor, and now my hair looks like this.

It’s short, the shortest it’s been since around 2008, and definitely taking some time to get used to but I like it. As far as wedding jewelry goes, my mom is awesome sauce and bought my sis and I these necklaces to wear. Well my sister’s is a clear topaz stone, but this is mine.

want. now.

want. now.

I’m not allowed to have it until the wedding in April, and it’s so unfair, haha. Nothing else really new to report, same old crap different day. Happy Thursday!

So many prizes!

It’s my WFH day, also known as my most favorite day of the week, yes even more of a favorite than Friday.  I get to sleep a whole 1.5 hours later than normal and stay in sweatpants all day long, if I so choose.  Today however, I’m having lunch with my lovah Kacy to lessen the withdrawal symptoms so I’ll probably shower at some point.

Yesterday after work, I begrudgingly made my way over to the gym for my leg workout (barf).  10 minute warm-up on the treadmill looked like this:

2 min at 4.0
6 x 30 seconds hard 30 seconds easy (9.o for the hard, standing on the sides for the easy)
2 min at 4.0

Followed by:
2 x 15 freehand squat jumps as a second warm-up

Three sets of each of these done as a superset
10-12 Plie dumbbell squats
10-12 lateral non-alternating barbell squats
10-12 calf raises

All wrapped up with 20 minutes on the treadmill.  Personally, I think running after lifting legs should be considered by the government as a form of torture.  I felt like I was barely lifting my feet up off the treadmill and was in danger of tripping and face planting for the whole 20 minutes.  Needless to say my legs were complete trash after, and they’re still pretty trashed today.

When I finally got home at the end of the day, I was greeted by 3 packages waiting for me!  I think half the fun of online shopping is receiving everything it the mail a week or so later.  One of my prizes, was my latest Bridier Baubles purchase, the Cisco Cuff (Hook).  I think it makes a lovely addition to what’s normally happening on my wrist.

Package numero due was my new running shoes!  My old ones had holes in the back of the heel so these were more than necessary.  I love the brightness of them, and I can’t wait to wear them because they’re sooooo cushioning.  Yay!

The third thing was my new pair of Toms, they’re red with stripes and adorable, and I’m probably wearing them to lunch today so I’ll take a picture then.  And, friends, I must confess I’m still waiting for one more thing and I hope it arrives a day early so I can pack it for my weekend in PA.

Oh, and one last thing, Happiest of happy birthdays to my lovely roommate and friend Adrienne!

New Things

My mom put me on the phone with my cat the other night, and I think she recognized my voice. Yup, totally normal.

Anywhoodle, apparently my crazy town man friend went out and looked at some houses yesterday.  I didn’t know this because we weren’t speaking, but he liked one.  I like it. He’s looking at a few more today, and if nothing strikes his fancy more, we’re moving on it.  The owners have already moved, so hopefully it’s a smoother process? Although with our luck, probably not.

The past two mornings, I’ve tried something a little different.  Normally I drag myself out of bed about 10 seconds before I need to be in my car and driving to work, which kind of makes for a stressful morning.  Yesterday and today I woke myself up about 20 minutes earlier than normal, and took the time to make a nice breakfast.  Two egg omelet with some mozz and peppers, and actually drank some coffee before leaving the house.  Ya know what, I liked it.  Not only was my stomach not growling during my 45 minute drive in, but I didn’t feel like I was half asleep at the wheel.  I think I shall try to make this a regular thing.

Workouts have been pretty standard since returning from Vegas.  Monday I worked on my tan, Tuesday I ran 3 miles, and yesterday I did the Body by Bethenny yoga DVD.  The DVD was a good workout, it had me sweating and my arms burning and the 5 minute Booty Buster extra at the end was just enough for me to feel satisfied and call it a day.  Then I cleaned my entire room and bathroom, vacuuming and scrubbing the floor and all.  Good thing Darren likes to clean, because this girl?  Not so much.

In other news, because I figured my credit card bill is already absurdly high for the month, I added some more purchases to it on Tuesday.  I’d seen mentions of Bridier Baubles floating around Twitter, and then I started to see pictures, and then I decided I wanted some of my own cute Kate Spade and J. Crew-esque jewelry for a fraction of the price.  By tomorrow I will be the proud owner of an adorable pair of octopus earrings, the Boca Grande necklace, and the Flower Patch necklace.  I’m excited.  Check out the Facebook page here, and if you do, tell em I sent ya!

Darren arrives tomorrow at 5:15 and we have plans to double date with my roommate Dani and her boyfriend.  Clarendon restaurant suggestions are welcome, my usuals American Tap Room and Fireworks are getting old.  Happy Thursday betches.
