If I Could I Would

So I’m not currently shopping, I did way too much emotional purchasing of everything I wanted like 6 months ago, but that doesn’t stop the emails from my favorite stores from inundating my inbox everyday. So let’s play, “Things I would buy if I wasn’t broke and my rent wasn’t about to go up by $383 a month.” Just to make things easier, these pics all came from the J.Crew website. Basically that store is my kryptonite.

How obsessed am I with those mint eyelet cafe capris? It’s probably unhealthy. The purple, mint, and aqua plaid shirt is also incredibly adorable. I have two of the Tippi sweaters currently, and they are wonderful, so obviously I wouldn’t mind adding a few more colors of it to my collection. I’ve worn my Cece flats to death, and I love the green color.

I don’t really own a lot of pink, but I did buy those bright pink shorts at the top last summer and I wouldn’t mind adding a few of these pieces to the closet. Specifically the pink and white check shirt, and that pink mini. I’d say those Sperry’s but I own Toms already that are pretty much the exact same colors.

navy2I am loving all things Nautical right now, my scarf today has anchors and boat wheels on it, so when I saw this stuff I about died. The navy dress at the top right, the navy and white striped blazer, the pencil skirt (which also comes in shorts in that pattern) and silver shoes, want it all. Minus the hat, I don’t do giant hats, I’ll stick to my worn in salt stained Lacoste baseball cap thanks.

Unfortunately the only thing I’ll be adding to my wardrobe in the near future is a new pair of jeans. You see, as I was pulling on my favorite pair of skinny 7’s on Saturday (straight from the wash mind you) I heard the terrible sound of denim ripping. Right, down, the thigh. I knew it was coming, as my go-to jeans off and on for the past 5 years the fabric was thinning, and they were totally worn out. I still mourned the loss of them however, and it became very apparent this morning as I tried on no less than 5 pairs of jeans to find ones that were neither too big nor too small that I need to replace them ASAP. I don’t even like the jeans I had to wear today.

They’re old, and flared, and have weird whiskering, and I have the giant True Religion “U” on my ass. No bueno. So until I win the lottery, I’ll just window shop and mark all the things I would buy if I could. The end.

The Perfect Pair

Remember last week when I mentioned I should probably join J. Crewics Anonymous?  Well, that’s not a joke, I seriously need to, but luckily for you my addiction may have resulted in locating the PERFECT pair of jeans last night.  Now, I am admittedly a jean snob, with a closet so full of Seven’s and Paige jeans that Darren frequently wants to punch me in the face.  So, finding the perfect pair of denim is like winning the lottery. Pay attention ladies!

It all started thanks to a disabled vehicle on the George Washington Parkway that brought the two lane, no shoulder highway down to one lane, creating a 45 minute delay.  I’d rather stab my eyes out with hot pokers than sit in 45 minutes of traffic after work, so after the gym I decided to stop at the Montgomery Mall on my way home.  Mistake number one.  My next mistake was wandering into J. Crew, because we all know it is impossible for me to go in there without finding 1000 things I “must” have.

Before I knew it I was in the dressing room trying on 50 things, the “perfect” jeans among them.  From the second I pulled them on, I knew they were a keeper.  They fit like a glove in all the right places, while somehow still managing to be extremely comfortable.  It didn’t hurt that they were two, TWO, sizes smaller than my previous J. Crew denim purchase.  These are the pants, and here is a picture.  Do yourself a favor and go now and buy them.  You’re welcome.

I also ended up with these pants, because a good pair of stretchy black cropped dress pants is always a good investment.  Unfortunately the overcharged me for them (psh like I don’t know how much everything costs) so I have to go back to the store today to get refunded.  Pray for me and my will power.

Also a miracle? That I could fit any pants over my thighs at all after lifting legs before my mall adventure.  Seriously, they must be magic pants.  In fact, I almost fell down the stairs in the mall because my legs gave out while walking down them.  I’m blaming the wide set sumo squats for that.  The legs and calves workout on last night’s agenda totally kicked my ass, literally, and I’m extremely tempted to push today’s shoulders and abs until tomorrow.

Anywho (you have no idea how tempted I am to type anywhoodle half the time) it’s Friday the 13th which is fun.  Perhaps I’ll entertain myself by watching a scary movie tonight.  Still pretty sure I’m going to go see B&B tomorrow, but since I completely blew up my January budget last night, we’ll see.  Happy weekend!

Sign Me Up

Thanks everyone for your input yesterday, I got 2 “no’s” and 8 “yes’ ” regarding the bangs dilemma so we’ll see what I go with this afternoon.  It’s going to be a game time decision.  And yes, I realize how absolutely ridiculous and self-absorbed this discussion is.

So I mentioned earlier that I was gifted with a J. Crew gift card for Christmas, and took advantage of their post-Christmas sales, and additional post-Christmas 25% off and did some online shopping Monday night.  My order arrived yesterday and I loveeeeee everything.

All of this ended up costing me only $32. That top right sweater is a pale pink, not sure why it looks white.  I’d like to thank them for including a matching silk cami to go with that blouse, because it’s incredibly sheer.  Also, I think I officially need to join J. Crew-ics Anonymous.  They have that right?

Another post-Christmas purchase arrived yesterday also.  Over the course of 2011 I was using iPhoto to make a 2012 calendar, with March 2011 photos for the March 2012 page, etc.  I finally finished up the month of December after Christmas and am thrilled with the result.  The calendar looks beautiful, and the photos look like high quality prints.

Dec 2012 page = Dec 2011 events

I think it will be fun to flip through each month and remember what I was doing during that month last year, but then I’m a geek who enjoys things like that.  I’m done spending money now.

After work I managed to make it to the gym for a workout that included a 15 minute warm-up on the ARC trainer, followed by a back and chest lifting session.  I can’t tell you the last time I did a bench press, so my chest is feeling it today.  Then I cancelled out the entire workout by stopping at Baja Fresh on the way home and getting a burrito.  I don’t even really like burritos, but I couldn’t stop thinking about one.  We’ll just blame that on a certain monthly visitor making an appearance later this week.

Anywho, happy almost Friday!  We’re almost through the first week back after the holidays!  You can do it!
