Gotta Love the South

I fell asleep last night to the sound of sleet pelting my bedroom windows, so obviously the first thing I did when I woke up at 6:30 this morning was call my works emergency weather hotline.  After hearing “operating on a two-hour delayed opening” I turned off my alarm, rolled over, and went back to sleep.  I’m not sure that delay was completely necessary, but hey I’m not complaining.

Last night I immersed myself in the world of Lifetime, and watched the Amanda Knox movie.  It’s definitely and interesting story, and I’m not sure whether I think she did it or not, but she sure did seem to handle the situation strangely.  I guess we’ll see what happens in her upcoming appeal process.  Anyway, definitely much better than the job they did with The Craigslist Killer.

On my way into work this morning, I heard the exciting news that today is National Margarita Day!  I immediately sent out this text message:

Me: It’s national margarita day, we should celebrate
Dani: Margs and glee tonight?
Me: I like it

Tequila is my nemesis, or best friend, depending on how you view the situation, but I do love it so.  There was a period of time two summers ago where I did multiple shots of Patron every night I went out.  That was fun.  I should start doing that again :).  So happy National Margarita Day! Will you be celebrating?

I ❤ Patron (excuse my hair sticking up)

I do plan on going to the gym after work and getting my tempo run in before margs and Glee take place.  Last weeks training kind of took a big hit, so it’s time to get back on track.  I’m not really concerned about missing my 7 mile long run, I finished my 6 mile one so strongly that I know I can do 7 no problem.  So I’m just going to chalk it up as a loss and move on with my training plan as scheduled.

Can I just say how much I love that this is the last week of February and the first few days of March are in the 10 day forecast?  I am definitely ready for spring, and my trip in 16 days, although I doubt it will feel like spring in Chicago.  Oh well.  Have a good one!

A Lot of Nothing

What day is it?  Wednesday?  I’m so confused, taking yesterday off really threw off my schedule.  Yesterday was one lazy day, I didn’t end up leaving the house at all.  The ice started to melt by mid-afternoon, but the thawing and falling from trees really made the outside world unappealing.  Instead I sat on the couch watching a Rachel Zoe Marathon, and then a marathon of Glee season 1 with the roommates.

The Flyers and the Caps played each other last night, so it was an interesting night in our household.  Dani actually went out with a friend to watch the game, and Adrienne and I kept ourselves distracted with this website, so luckily tensions weren’t too high.  The Flyers pulled off the victory in OT, so it was a win for Philly.

I just got out of my two-hour long monthly staff meeting, where my stomach growled the entire time, so that was fun.  No food allowed in the auditorium, and apparently the orange I stuffed in my face two seconds before it started just wasn’t cutting it.  Is it lunch time yet?

So, training for the Cherry Blossom 10 miler should start next week, I guess I should get on making a training plan, huh?  Or does anyone just want to send me a good one?  Guarantee I just end up using  my half marathon plan, and tweaking it a bit.  Sounds like a good plan to me.  I’m still debating whether or not to register for Broad Street.  My sister’s college graduation is the following weekend, and I don’t know if I feel like making the trek home two weekends in a row.  Or if I feel like running races in two consecutive months.  Decisions, decisions.

In other news, it looks like we may be in for more wintry weather Thursday night into Friday.  Probably just enough to be a pain in the ass though, not enough to keep me home on the couch.  Hey at least if training starts next week, that means April is only 11 weeks away!  Silver lining?  At least I get a mini vacation in 7 weeks, even if it is to the arctic tundra of the mid-west.

Working From Home

Last night a pretty serious ice storm rolled through our area.  When I left the gym at 6:30 it was already sleeting, and the streets and sidewalks were an ice skating rink by 8 pm.  I was holding out hopes for a snow day today, and was rewarded with a delayed 2 hour opening.  It’s still pretty slick and icy out, so I opted to work from home today.  I’m currently sitting on my couch with my MacBook and work computer open, haha, multi-tasking at its best.

Trying to get the door open to grab my computer was fun

Not fun at all, if you are out there driving around in this, be careful!  Prior to our ice storm, I got in a pretty good workout at the gym.  I did about 2.7 miles in 25 minutes, and then hung out on the elliptical for another 25 minutes, all followed up with my favorite ab move ever.  You lay on your back holding a 10 lb medicine ball (of whatever weight you prefer) and then raise your arms and legs at the same time, meeting together in the middle.  Not only does it work your ab muscles, but your arms as well.

Dinner was a frozen PF Changs Orange Chicken meal that I added some frozen corn and spaghetti to, in order to make it a little more substantial.

Not too bad for a frozen meal.  Assuming the ice starts to melt this afternoon, I plan on heading over to the gym a little later, and then the Flyers play the Caps tonight, so I think Adrienne and I are going to watch together.  Alright, peace out friends.
