Probably Gonna Turn into the Hulk

So, the inspection?  Kinda no big deal this time around!  The only major things that need fixing are a Radon system needs to be installed, and the fans from each of the bathrooms need to be vented through the roof in the attic.  They currently just stop there.  Other than that it’s just minor repairs that come with a 34 year-old house.  Score one for us!  Finally.  Soooo, we close on June 11, but we’re hoping to get the bank on board with a little bit earlier of a closing since the house is vacant.  We’ll see!

In accordance with my workout plan, yesterday I did my 30-40 minutes of cardio in the form of a lunch time spin class.  44 minutes and 17.2 miles later, I had melted into the ground and could barely pull myself off the bike.  At one point my bike was on resistance 20, that’s as high as they go.  I’m not even sure I was actually pedaling.  It was tough, but awesome.

Like I mentioned yesterday, there are also some nutritional guidelines that go along with this training plan, and I thought I’d go into that a little bit today.  Taking into consideration my current stats, the trainer is recommending I eat 1975 cals a day, including 198g each of carbs and protein, and 44g of fat.  I am finding it nearly impossible to consume that much protein, I hit 121 g on Monday and 105 g yesterday.  I’m also struggling to hit my calorie count, which I actually found surprising.  So here’s what two days of eats look like while trying to stay low-fat, high protein.  Surprisingly I’ve managed to stay below my 44g of fat allowance.

Monday

Tuesday

Yesterday I felt like I was eating all day long, and even when dinner time rolled around wasn’t that hungry and sort of just made myself eat.  It’s not so bad really, because I kind of enjoy eating constantly and never being so hungry I want to murder someone.  We’ll see how this works out for me in the next few weeks.  Speaking of dinner though, I had some technical issues last night.  I really wanted to grill my chicken an peppers, but after going through every single match I could find in the house, still couldn’t get the charcoal grill lit.  This happened instead:

Sigh, I fail.  Oh well, my kebabs tasted just as delicious this way, and because I still had some calories left I ate ice cream and drank wine for dessert.  Yup.

Anywho, that’s it from me today, have a good one!

Gimme, gimme

It’s take your child to work day.  They are everywhere.  Praise baby Jesus for the invention of headphones.

What day is it, Thursday?  These short weeks keep throwing me off… ummmm, when did I last blog?  Tuesday?  Alright, let’s catch up.

I mentioned in my last post that Dar and I picked out flatware and dinner plates that we like, and I thought I’d share in case anyone (ahem hi mom) wants to buy us a gift ever.  This is the dinnerware set I am quite partial to, and Dar doesn’t hate it, which is good enough for me.

As far as flatware goes, he likes this ugly plain crap, but I persuaded him to have better taste once again.  This is the Mesa Flatware, and I like how shiny it is.

We didn’t actually purchase anything, but I made extensive notes (of course I did) so hopefully once we have a house I can start ordering things and shipping them to it.  Oh right, the house thing.  So, on Tuesday we put an offer on another house, lucky number 4?  The sellers countered yesterday, and we immediately countered back, so we’re hoping they accept our latest today, since our offer and theirs were not too far apart number wise!  This is what it looks like:

And now you know about as much as I do, since I haven’t actually seen this place in person.  Talk about trust in a significant other, amiright?  Ok, here’s one more picture of the inside…

Omgeeee wood paneling!!!  Why do people do things like that?  But hey, check out those gorge hardwood floors already in place.  The layout of this place is more traditional, still a single story ranch, but it has a formal dining room and two living areas, which I like.  So pleaseeeee god let everything go smoothly.  Also, as you can probs tell, the seller’s have already peaced out, so we’re hoping they’re as motivated as us to get this done quickly.

Workouts for the week thus far:
Monday: Walking around C&B
Tuesday:  3 mile run, abs
Wednesday: 2 mile run, biceps and triceps
Thursday: spin at lunch hopefully

Yup, I’ve totally run 5 miles this week, which is the most since oh say December?  Someone’s b-maid dress felt a little tighter than she remembered it when she tried it on Monday.  Shh, don’t tell the bride, it still fits.  At least my return to running gave me an excuse to order these obnoxiously bright 2170s yesterday.  Woo!  Oh, and I got them for only $84.

Well, this was longer than I intended it to be, but my coffee is really strong this morning so I’m rambling.  I suppose that’s what happens when I stay up until 12:30 on a weeknight reading 50 Shades of Grey.  Laterzzz.

Over too Fast

Well, another long weekend has come and gone and Darren is safe and sound back in Wisconsin.  45ish days until we see each other again, and hopefully we’ll have a house by then.

We had a great weekend here in VA together that started almost the second Dar got off the plane on Friday evening.  We navigated home through rush-hour traffic where we met up with my roommate Dani and her boyfriend to head out to dinner.  We decided to check out the new Market Tavern (used to be Harry’s Tap Room), and while a little on the pricey side for regular visits, it was delicious and nice for a special occasion.  Oh and two words, bread bar.  That is all.

Spotted, my new Bridier Baubles Boca Grande necklace and matching earrings that came as a free gift!

Friday night lasted much longer that I’m used to, and I was dragging a little the next morning when it was time to get up and get ready for kickball.  Yes, kickball and all it brings with it is back for another season, which means afternoons spent on The Mall followed by Miller Lights and tots in the evening.  Bring, it, on.

After winning our game, and a few hours in the bar, Darren and I said our goodbyes and headed home to hang out and relax.  After a pit stop at TJ’s (which I’m appalled to say my love did not like) we figured out a solution as how to grill our dinner in the rain.

Why we never thought to move the grill to our front porch I do not know, but it worked just fine.  Darren braved the cold and rain, while I kept the couch warm :).  The kebabs were delicious, thanks to TJ’s pre-marinated meat and cheap produce.  So what if they don’t sell marinade, you don’t need it.

Sunday was spent lazing around watching movies, until we pulled ourselves up off the couch and joined some of my friends to watch the Caps game at Whitlows.  Darren is a strange guy, and not really a big sports fan, so I spent some time secretly explaining why such penalties were called the Stanley Cup playoff structure. Shh, don’t tell him I told you.

The rest of the weekend was spent much the same way, drinking, eating, and lounging.  We did venture out for few hours yesterday to drop my bridesmaid dress off for altering and some home shopping at Crate and Barrel.  We managed to pick out flatware and plates that we both like, which is a huge accomplishment.

Today it’s back to life as normal, with no days off until the end of May.  Luckily, Amy, Jess, and Steph are coming to visit Kacy an I in a mere 10 days and I CAN’T WAIT! It’s going to be a ridiculously fun weekend, and I’m excited to finally meet Jess in person.  Although, sometimes I forget that I haven’t.  Well, happy Tuesday you fools. s
