Ass, Kicked

Happy Tuesday fools, what’s going on?  I am so sore today that I almost couldn’t get out of bed this morning, and it’s all thanks to a new workout I tried yesterday.  My bff Jill is super sexy, no seriously Men’s Health uses her as the fitness model for their “Today’s Exercise” videos on their website, and the other day we got to chatting.  She knows I’ve gotten really into lifting lately, and she started telling me all about this workout she’s been doing that has been kicking her ass.  Naturally I was curious, and inquired about it.  She told me to download the Men’s Health Lite iPhone app, and check out The Spartacus Workout.  It was free, so I did, and started reading what it was all about.

To create the Spartacus workout, we chose 10 exercises that collectively work every part of your body, and then placed each at a 60-second station, in order to challenge your heart and lungs as well as your muscles. The final product: A high-intensity circuit that’s designed to burn away fat, define your chest, abs, and arms, and send your fitness levels soaring. So you’ll sculpt a lean, athletic-looking body—while getting in the best shape of your life.

Ten exercises, 60 seconds?  Sounds like my kind of thing, so yesterday in the gym I set myself up in the group fitness room and got to work.  Holyyyy shit, did I get my ass kicked.  I’ve never worked so hard in a short 25 minute time period (uh yeah I only went through twice because I thought I was going to die), I was sweating and breathing harder than after a 5 mile run, and my legs?  Jello.  It was awesome.  For the first set I went through with 12 lb weights, and then downgraded to 10 for the second because I thought my legs were going to fall off.

Today my ass and thighs are burning, and I’m not sure what the hell I’m going to be able to do in the gym.  I sent the workout to Dar who also tried it yesterday, and he even said it kicked his ass.  I plan on trying to do it two times a week instead of my usual lifting and we’ll see what happens.  If yesterday and how I feel today are any indication though, I think it’s going to be great.  Oh and I somehow managed to pedal along on the elliptical for 15 minutes after the workout.

I arrived home last night to the fuses in the upstairs all blown, meaning my room AC was off all day, and it was 98 degrees outside, yaaay.  I quickly fixed it and planted myself in the living room watching Season 1 of Mad Men until the upstairs cooled off.  I wish it were appropriate to drink in the middle of the day at work, work would be a lot more tolerable then.  Anyway, finished the first disc of the first season, and now just need to send it back to Netflix for disc 2.

Completely random, but is there anything better than putting a fresh pair of contacts in your eyes, because I think not.

I’m burning up!

Is it sad that the first thought that crossed my mind this morning when my alarm went off was “Yes, only two more days after this!”?  Sigh.  Anyway, happy Tuesday pals.

I set off on a steamy 3 mile run yesterday after work, it was about 82 degrees and a lot more humid than I originally thought.  Mile 1 felt great, but by miles 2 and 3 the sweat was literally dripping off of me and I was having trouble getting a deep breath.  Meh, you can see I kind of self-destructed during mile 2.

I tried to pull it back together for mile 3, but I somehow judged my distance wrong and only ended up doing 2.86 all together.  Oh well, I’ll call it a success in that weather.  And just for fun, here are my stats from Friday’s run since I didn’t have them yesterday.

After my run, I came inside and did some abs and stretching.  Tonight I plan on doing a quick 1 or 2 miles because the humidity is supposed to be way down, and then tackling Yoga Meltdown again.  I can only imagine the triceps I’ll have if I keep doing those chaturanga push-ups.  Come on sexy arms!

Dinner was some leftover Chinese from Sunday night, buuuut I forgot my camera cord at home.  I had two steamed pork dumplings and some chicken lo-mein, and then a Skinny Cow Truffle bar for dessert.

Ok so recently I’ve been struggling with losing the weight I gained when I was injured and not running, and decided to try using a calorie tracker program.  I signed up over at Livestrong and The Daily Plate, and for a 2lb a week weight loss it gave me a daily calorie total of 1,183.  Now, I feel like that seems a little low but it does give you calories back when you enter your fitness for the day.  So after my run yesterday, 315 calories were added to whatever I had left for the day for my dinner making my alloted calories for the day 1,498.  Despite that, does this still seem too low?  I know general consensus on Twitter last night was yes, but now I’m asking the rest of ya’ll because I was definitely still hungry after dinner last night.

Bachelorette?  Kasey is a freakin weirdo, and that tattoo was an awful idea.  The end.
