Plan of Attack

Hello! How has everyone’s week been? Mine has been mostly good, with the exception of Tuesday which I told to suck a dick, but let’s not dwell on that.  Work is absolutely crazy right now, which I was prepared for since last August-November was the exact same, and on top of all the “real” work I’m about to start studying for my Regulatory Affairs Certification.  I haven’t taken or studied for anything since college, I’m nervous.  The test is at the end of November and review sessions start next week…. I guess I should read the first three chapters of the book, huh?

So, clearly I’ve recently started going out more, and since I’m not longer 21 and afforded the luxury of escaping the craziest of nights hangover free I’ve learned to plan my happy hours accordingly.  You see, I work from home on Thursdays which means on Wednesday nights I can stay out a little later/drink a little stronger because I can stay in my pajamas all day nursing myself back into shape for Thursday night.

Thursday happy hours work out well because I’m home all day, and have time to shower/straighten the hair before heading out for the evening.  The problem I face on Thursday night’s is exercising enough self-control so I don’t hate my life in the office on Friday.  Normally I’m pretty good at that, but sometimes it’s a little more difficult.  Like last night, for example.

One of my friends is moving to Boston at the end of the month, so last night we had a little going away happy hour for him.  It started innocently enough with a  few pitchers of sangria, then we changed locations, and this happened.

Somehow, thankfully, I woke up on time this morning not feeling too terrible.  Probably helps that I did manage to make it home by around 11 pm. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t wish I was lucky enough to have a summer hours Friday today.  Sigh.  Weeknight happy hours: better than late night drinking outings since 2008.  Happy Friday!

Trivia Champion

Weeeee, happy Friday!  Now there’s only 2.5 days next week standing between me and Thanksgiving.  Well, hopefully, I’m assuming we will get to leave somewhat early from work on Wednesday.  Fingers crossed, because I would really like to beat traffic home.

Last night I hit the gym for the 4th day in a row.  I know who am I?  Don’t worry I have no plans to work out today.  I did a 15 minute warm-up on the treadmill, spending the last 10 minutes alternating between 7.2 mph for 2 minutes and 6.2 mph for one minute.  I was definitely warmed-up.  After the run, I moved on to my favorite oblique moves followed by something my friend Wes told me to try.  A push-up pyramid.  Do one push-up, rest five seconds, two push-ups, rest five seconds, etc until you reach 10.  Then work your way back down.

I made it up to 7, which if you do the math is actually 28 push-ups, and then back down to 1 makes 56.  Half-way through I had to switch my hand placement from flat on the floor to holding dumbbells because my wrists are so fucked up from gymnastics.  It was a killer workout and my chest, arms, and abs are sore today.  Success!

I ran into one of my co-workers (obviously, it’s a work gym) who informed me that there was a happy hour going on that he was heading to when he finished his workout, and passed on an invite.  I took one look at the traffic app on my phone, saw that it was at “9 and building” and figured why not go have a beer.  A beer turned into 3 beers, and a night of trivia at the bar.  Wanna know the one question I knew the answer to?  “In what year did Phil Collins win an Academy Award for his original song You’ll Be in My Heart?”

Me: “Duh, that’s the song from Tarzan, I know for a fact I watched that movie on DVD when I was a Freshman in high school.”
Everyone: Blank stares
Me:”It was totally the year 2000.”

Bonus points for getting the year exactly, and not just within the 2 year range given?  Two, boo-ya.  Mostly people were just appalled by the fact that I was a Freshman in high school in the year 2000.  I also may have agreed to a cross-fit workout next week with two other coworkers.  Damn me and my drunken big mouth.

I made it home by about 10, where I proceeded to stay up way too late watching the two-hour Private Practice episode.  It was good, and also quite sad.  Now I’m tired today, and ready for a relaxing evening at home.  Bring it weekend.

Have a great one!

Bar Food

Mine and Kacy’s friendship can basically be summed up like this:

We met at Union Jack’s in the Ballston Mall at 6 pm and enjoyed our fair share of $1 beers and split some appetizers.  Ya know, because a long with lots of booze we also enjoy copious amounts of food.

My roommate, Dani, was amazed at the progress we’d made when she showed up to join us around 6:30.  Hey, a girl’s gotta eat, especially when her lunch consisted of spinach and tuna.  I was starving.  Happy hour continued until about 8 pm, at which point we said our goodbyes to make it home in time to watch some much-anticipated TV shows.  Yup, same life values right there.

The rest of my night was much less boring.  I watched Grey’s in bed, I randomly got back into that show last season, and passed out by 11 pm.  It’s disgusting out today, which is always a fun start to the weekend, and I have to get up early tomorrow so I think tonight may involve using the rest of an open can of pumpkin in the form of cookies.  We’ll see though.  I haven’t looked at it since Saturday, so it could be bad.  The weather for tomorrow isn’t looking so hot, but I’m hoping we won’t have another football game cancelled.

Anywho, happy Friday. Anyone got anything good going on?
