Last One, I Promise

Oh hey, long time no see!  It seems as though I found the energy to post two days in a row, and then it wiped me out.  However, it’s finally Friday after what has seemed like the longest week in the history of the world and I’ve found some time to ramble.

Did you know it’s going to be hot this weekend? I’m sure you did, it’s all anyone is talking about.  Today in Arlington we’re expected to hit 104 degrees.  104.  What does one do/wear when it’s that hot out?  Sit in front of their window air conditioner and a bra and underpants?  Good, because that’s what I plan on doing all weekend.  Sorry to my roommate’s boyfriend ahead of time.

In all seriousness though, I really have no plans to go outside at all this weekend.  Unless you live under a rock (or not in the US) you know the US Olympic Trials started last week, and all of my TV viewing has been taken over by them.  My most favorite of favorite competitions started yesterday (gymnastics) and continues until Sunday night, so I have grand plans to hang out with some orange vodka in the AC and cheer on my favorites.  I’m also planning on tackling some craft projects for the new house, so we’ll see how that goes.

It occurred to me the other day, that I never actually showed you all any pics of our awesome giant backyard, and since I hate a pictureless post you’re getting them today.  The house is in a sweet neighborhood with lots of houses and kids and families, and we were fortunate enough to luck out with a lot that backs up to cornfields.  Do you know how nice it is to go outside and NOT hear screaming children.  It’s fantastic, although I’m slightly scared of our yard once it’s dark out.  There’s a lot of wildlife out there.  During our BBQ I saw not only chipmunks and rabbits, but also a giant fucking deer came strolling through.  And you know what live in cornfields?  Snakes.  Snakes live in cornfields. I shudder just thinking about it.  Anyway, here ya go.

Ok that’s the last of the house pictures until August.  I promise.  Well, unless something really cool happens.  Happy Friday!

Hurting Today

Well, I’m glad I’m not the only one who sometimes forgets their age.  It makes me feel better about losing my mind, so thanks for that.  Anywho… it wasn’t raining on my drive to work today for the first time in weeks, seriously.  So that was nice, although I’m pretty sure thunderstorms are supposed to return this afternoon.  I think they said on the news that this is the 5th rainiest September in DC history.  How fun.

In other exciting news that people who are not me won’t care about, after 7.5 longs weeks, I only have 3 more to get through until Darren comes to visit!  This time in exactly three weeks he will be hours from arriving in DC, hooray!  I’m thinking the next few will go by pretty quickly, because I’m traveling home for a friend’s wedding next week.  The first weekend of August was a longggg time ago friends.  A long time.

Yesterday after work I hit the gym for a full body lifting session, and then I got to work in the group fitness studio on flexibility and handstand practice.  I’ve decided that I really want to work on getting my flexibility and some of the strength I used to have back.  I worked on splits, back bends, and shoulders, and man can I feel it today.  It’s been awhile since I forced myself up and into a back bend and my stomach did not remember how to stretch that way.  Neither did my shoulders or spine for that matter, but I’m determined to work on it.

Alright, that’s all I’ve got for ya’ll today. Happy Thursday!

I Wanna Play

You guys, I used to laugh at people who forgot how old they were, and wonder how the hell a person can do such a thing.  Well lately, I’ve been forgetting my age! No seriously, I’ll think I’m 25, or 27, and it takes me a second to remember that I’m 26.  How does this happen, am I really getting so old that I’m starting to lose my memory?  Sigh.

Oh, and just let me reassure you all.  My food prep for the week is probably the one place in my life where I exercise extreme organization.  For example, right now my room is a disaster and I have not done my laundry in over two weeks.  Food is my motivator.  I am a cranky hungry person.

Yesterday afternoon at work was slowwwwwwwww, so I spent most of it watching gymnastics videos on You Tube.  Specifically old school Shawn Johnson videos, ya know pre Olympics and Dancing With the Stars.  I think the first time I ever saw a video of her was back when she was still a junior and her beam routine amazed me then.  This is from the 2008 Visa Championships which she won for the second year in a row.  I can’t wait for all the televised upcoming events.  Worlds, Pan Am Games, American Cup, Visa Championships, Olympic Trials, and finally the 2012 Olympics!

After watching that all afternoon, all I wanted to do was find an open gym somewhere and go bounce around on a tumble track.  Unfortunately I don’t know anywhere to go and do that, so I settled for a workout across the street.  3.5 miles on the treadmill, 15 minutes on the elliptical and abs and push-ups.  I went to an ab class once at the gym and totally jacked all the moves to do on my own, since I’m not a group fitness person.  You use an exercise ball and I really love how much more you feel the exercises.

I made it home from the gym just in time to heat up some meatloaf and veggies and settle in on the couch for Glee, New Girl, Raising Hope, and Sons of Anarchy.  Yes, it was an exhausting night of television watching.  Also, Glee needs to cut it with the teen angst and just sing more songs that I know the words to.  I didn’t know any of the West Side Story crap from last night, lame.

So, it’s been raining for the past 9 days and I kind of can’t remember what the sun looks like.  It was thunderstorming while I was getting ready for work this morning.  Rumor has it that after tomorrow the sun will return for the weekend?  I  hope so, because this is depressing.  Also, I’m betting football is going to be cancelled again due to poor field conditions.  Lame.  Aight yo, happy Wednesday.
