So a while ago, no seriously like back at the end of April, a lovely bottle of BBQ sauce showed up at my front door courtesy of Foodbuzz and the fact that I am part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker program. Dar and I actually happened to be making ribs at the time, but we’d already purchased some BBQ sauce for that purpose. I figured I’d get around to using it eventually, and eventually just so happened to be last night.
After a random grocery shopping trip I threw some chicken in a tupperware with the sauce and stuck it in the freezer for future use. I pulled it out yesterday when the roommates fired up the grill. I also prepared an ear of corn on the cob my absolute favorite way. (Sidenote, after re-reading that post I realized I never soaked my ear of corn in water, oopsies).
The roommates added their goods and pretty soon we had a full grill going on the back porch.
My verdict on the BBQ sauce? I really liked it, typically I’m not a fan of BBQ sauces because they’re too thick and tangy, but this one was sweet and thin, much more my style. Although I can see it making a much better marinade as opposed to an actual sauce. I brought the leftover chicken today for lunch to incorporate into a BBQ chicken wrap, pretty pumped.
Can’t beat charcoal grilled, bbq chicken in the summertime, although I do miss the ease and size of my big gas grill back home in PA.
I compensated for my weekend of booze, hot dogs, and hamburgers by getting back in the gym yesterday during lunch. Nothing crazy, but better than nothing. 33 minutes on the elliptical followed by my triceps and chest workout. My triceps are definitely getting stronger, as I increased weight on my tricep push downs, chest press is standing still at 40 lbs though.
Anyway, it’s Tuesday, try not to be too depressed. At least next week is a holiday week and therefore a short one. I’m trying to ignore the fact that this time last year I was preparing for my week long vacation in OBX. Sigh.
