Sunday Funday

Well hello, and happy Monday!  I’m here at work today, but judging by the lack of traffic on the roads this morning no one else is.  Lucky jerks.  Instead of MLK day off, we have President’s Day next month, so I guess that’s better than nothing.  After my shopping trip to lululemon on Saturday, Adrienne and I got ourselves ready to head into DC to meet up with some friends to watch the football games.

After a detour in the metro station, when we realized we couldn’t get to the stop we needed to due to track work, we hopped in a cab and made our way into the city.  The bar was a good time, there was flip cup, dancing to horrible 90s music, and of course football.

Adrienne and I

I ended up calling it a night first and heading on home after the Packers game ended, enjoying a cab ride with a very chatty driver.  Sunday I woke up to the smell of coffee brewing, and Adrienne offering to make french toast for breakfast, and I am never one to turn down a meal cooked for me.  After our breakfast and a few cups of coffee, we actually had a productive day.

I drove Adrienne back to her car at the metro station, which conveniently is across the street from the grocery store so we both got our weekly grocery shopping done.  That’s actually where our productivity ended, because then we went home and decided 3 pm was a perfect time to start drinking mimosas.  I was a few sips into mine when Adrienne came plopping down on the couch and whispered, “I have a secret.”  Intrigued, I inquired as to what this secret may be, at which point she giggled and said, “there’s vodka in here.”  Excellent, champagne and vodka, doesn’t get much better than that.

By 4 pm, when Dani got home from her ski weekend we had finished our first pitcher and were about to make a second.  In my opinion nothing says welcome home like a mimosa.  We spent Sunday watching the Caps game and the other two NFL playoff games, before switching to a marathon of Glee.  Mock me all you want, but I love it, haha.  Alright, well I’m off to try to make it through the day.  Did you all have a good weekend?  Are you off today?

Stressful Morning

Well, I am officially a disaster today, and it’s only 9:15.  I remembered on my way out to my car  this morning that I never got gas last night when the light came on.  “No biggie,” I thought, “I’ll just grab some when I get to work, I have enough to get there.”  I know what you’re thinking, hahaha famous last words.  Yup, the universe decided to play a joke on me today.  As I’m cruising along, at 6:30 in the morning mind you, I take my exit to get on 395 to head to the GWP and almost immediately am slamming on my breaks to come to a complete standstill.  Then I did not move for almost five minutes.  I only need to be on 395 for about 2 miles before my exit comes up, and it took me 45 minutes to get that far.  Meanwhile I’m watching my gas gauge get lower and lower as I sit there in traffic.

There was an accident on the 14th Street Bridge going into DC that had traffic backed up in a 90 minute delay.  I wanted to cry, because I also still needed to go to the gym and shower, and make it to a gas station!  When I finally made it to the GWP traffic eased up and I was able to make it the rest of the way without any problems.  I pulled into a gas station with my display reading that I had 12 miles left in the gas tank, haha.  By the time I got into the gym, I had about 20 minutes to work with before I absolutely needed to be in the shower.  A quick strength workout it was.

I couldn’t even really tell you exactly what i did, it was that crazy and rushed.  I know there was some bicep and tricep work, some single leg lunges, lat pull-downs, the inner and outer thigh machine things, abs, and reverse crunches.  Not too bad for the time I had to work with I don’t think.  Oh and the craziness doesn’t end there.  I finally get to work, and go to drive into the parking garage and realize I forgot my security badge and can’t get in. Haha, nothing like a hectic morning to start your day.

Last night was less hectic, I went food shopping after work and made some Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies.  With a hand mixer.  It was not easy.  They turned out pretty good, but definitely not my best batch.  Then it was time for the Glee Christmas episode, I think this was my favorite line.  “He went to go take a long poop, and when he came back it was there.”  Favorite performance was Baby it’s Cold Outside, by a lot.  So cute.

And now, because this video cracked me up last night and it’s so freaking adorable, I will share.

Have a great day!

I Will Not Get Sick

Ah Wednesday, two more days to go, and this is definitely the longest week of my life.  Also, four days until the half, and I am getting extremely nervous, maybe that’s the reason I wake up every morning at 3 or 4 am having to pee?  Seriously, why can I not sleep through the night, I’ve never had this problem before!  Well, I mean I’ve had the problem of waking up a few times during the night, but never because I had to pee.  Super annoying.

I woke up yesterday morning with a scratchy throat, and somewhat stuffy nose, so I took full advantage of my rest day and curled up on the couch in sweats all night.  I also broke out the Zicam nasal spray and Vitamin C tablets, I will not get sick with four days to go!

I had leftover Ravioli Lasagna for dinner last night, and since I neglected to take and post pictures yesterday, I took some last night.

With a side of my favorite Garlic Mozzarella bread of course.  After dinner, I relaxed on the couch watching How I Met Your Mother reruns and waiting for Glee to start.  I was a little skeptical when I saw Gwyneth Paltrow was going to be a guest star, but she surprised me.

This was my favorite, but the duet to Singing in the Rain/Umbrella with Mr. Shue was pretty fantastic also.  I was a big fan of the movie Duets, which she was in, and I’m glad she pulled off her Glee role.  At the end of the episode they announced that the Christmas album was now officially available, and I almost bought it, but I figured I’d wait until after Thanksgiving at least :).

I know a lot of people hate Glee, but I love musicals, and it makes me happy so I watch.  Plus I think it’s a lot better than all the shitty reality shows out there these days, those just make my head want to explode.

Tonight I have my second to last run of my training plan, and it’s a 5 mile tempo, which should be fun.  Weather is still looking good for Sunday, keeping my fingers crossed, low of 41 in the morning high of 51 in the afternoon.  So what do I wear?! Sigh, so much to think about still.

Alright have a good day everyone, just think, this time next week Thanksgiving will be tomorrow!
