An Announcement

Holler ya’ll, Happy Friday!  I have some exciting news!  I’m going to be doing my first giveaway early next week, so keep your eyes peeled for it.  It’s a good one!

So last night my sister and I hit the gym, and I desperately needed to sweat out all the red wine I drank on Wednesday night.  For being tired and slightly hungover, I actually had a decent run.

  • 4.5 miles
  • 40 minutes
  • 8:53 pace

I really need to get outside to make sure I can keep up the pace I run inside on a treadmill when I’m running outside.  I always keep the treadmill at a 0.5 incline to at least somewhat simulate outside, but it’s still different.  Oh, and my sister is contemplating doing the Philly half with me in Nov on her 22nd birthday, let’s convince her to do it!

Dinner was about finishing the leftovers in the fridge.  My sister finished up the zucchini and squash lasagna and I finished the stir fry.  And then I tried to make a tortilla pizza because there wasn’t really a lot of stir fry left, except when I opened the pizza sauce jar there was a huge layer of mold growing on top.  Vom.  Fail.  So I ate a piece of cinnamon bread instead.

The bakery this bread comes from also makes the most amazing cheese bread, but that also had some mold on it.  WTF mold?  Maybe it’s because of all the damn humidity?  I don’t know, I give up.  And in typically Friday fashion, here’s some more Formspring questions.

More of your Questions

Are you happy with your body?
Now that’s a tough question.  As much as I would like to say that yes, I am perfectly happy with my body and am fully confident about it, that would be a lie.  Sure, there are days when I feel like I’m looking good and embrace my body, but then there are days when I look in the mirror and see a puffy stomach, or fat thighs and chubby arms.  Is anyone happy with how they look 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

I guess Ex’s are a touchy subject for anyone but looking back, do you think you were really in love with each other?
I mean I can’t speak for him obviously, but yes I did really love him.  We had a lot of great times together over the two years we dated, and that relationship definitely helped me grow as a person and in my next relationship.

What is the meanest thing anyone has ever said to you?
Hmmmm, well there’s the usual mean things “slut, bitch, etc,” but I think probably the meanest thing was when someone I cared about told me that I was boring, and no fun, and that I never wanted to have fun.  Which, if you know me is completely untrue.

If you could have ANY occupation in the whole wide world what would you do? What would be your dream job?
This is something I think about a lot.  For a long time in college I thought I wanted to work at a magazine, and be a reporter, maybe an editor someday, start my own magazine, but now I’m not sure if I’m cut out for that.  Ultimately I think I would like to get paid for what I love to do now.  Write, workout, and cook.  It’s always been a dream of mine to write a novel some day, a real epic story with characters the reader can relate to and love.  I also would love to work in a gym as a personal trainer or group fitness class instructor all while keeping up my blog and the blogging community.

Why do you think you and your ex broke up? Ex stories always are interesting are they not?
Haha well, you’d have to ask him that since he broke up with me ;).  We weren’t right for each other is I guess all it comes down to.  I was making big changes in my lifestyle that he thought made me boring and no fun, and we were fighting a lot and it was just time to move on.  There were things I wanted to do in my life that he wasn’t interested in, like moving away from our hometown, meeting new people, and we just wanted different things.

Soooo, I think it’s safe to say we’ve covered my last relationship at this point right?  Let’s move on shall we?  Kthxbye.

Have a great Friday everyone, I hope the work day flies by for you all.  Oh, and it’s Friday the 13th, so be carefulllll.

Friday, Friday!

Hello and happy Friday to you all!  I’m so glad everyone liked yesterdays post, and it’s interesting to see how many of us feel the same way.  I would also like to quickly thank my sister for waking up at the crack of dawn to drive me to work this morning, thanks you’re the best!  I’m headed right to the train station after work, and didn’t want to have to pay to park there all weekend.  Tryin to budget, ya know!

Last night the sis and I hit up the gym for our workout, and both did about 3 miles.  I’ve decided that until I start my official training for my half, that one run a week I’m going to focus on speed.  Yesterdays run was that run.

  • 3 miles
  • 26:46
  • 8:55 pace

Keeping in mind that I walk for the first two minutes at 4.0 mph.  It’s definitely getting easier and feeling more natural to keep my pace below 9 minute miles, so hopefully by half marathon day 9:05 will feel great!

Dinner last night was another delicious Red Barren frozen pizza, I think I’m a pizza addict.

Then we sat around counting down until the season finale of Bethenny Getting Married.  Seriously, my favorite show of the summer.  Her and Jason are hilarious, and I love them and their baby is adorable.  I hope they do another season.

Ok, so only two Formspring questions this week to answer, both somewhat similar.

You sound like you were in a similar ex situation than me. He left me and is with, well has been with another girl a month after we broke up. It kills me to hear about “them” and how well they are doing. Any advise?

It always sucks to hear about someone who broke up with you dating someone new, and enjoying it.  The best advice I can offer is to remind yourself of all the things that bothered you about the person, all the bad times, and not just dwell on the good memories.  Also, you’re probably better off because as cliché as it is, break ups happen for a reason.  Oh and block them on facebook, no need to see shit popping up every day.

Do you miss your ex bf since you talked about getting married with him? Who brought the M word up first?

Honestly, I don’t miss him.  I felt so disrespected by him because of the way he broke up with me (asking me out to dinner and then breaking up with me in an Applebees parking lot after almost 2 years together) that it made me realize he never appreciated me or our relationship, which in turn made it easy to get over him.  I’m probably the one who brought it up first, and he wasn’t ready which was for the best because now I know I wasn’t really ready either and was just looking for someone to get me out of a town and a situation at home that I hated.

Alright, and that’s it for today!  I’m off to NYC at 3:30 today, and I have a water bottle of vodka packed and sitting in my suitcase under my desk.  Who wants to take bets on whether or not I start swigging out of it by lunchtime?

Your Questions, Answered

Yessss, it’s finally Friday!  I don’t know about you guys, but this week has seemed to draaaaaaaaag on to me.  I also cannot believe that it is the last weekend in July, my sister goes back to school in 3 weeks and that’s just super depressing.  That also means it’s almost the start of wedding season for me, I have a wedding on August 28, September 3, and September 17 so it will be a very busy end of summer/begging of fall for this girl.

Yesterday after work, I trekked off to the gym to get in a run.  I wanted to do something between four and five miles, so I set the time for 45 minutes and took off.  For some reason this week I have been feeling super tired and had headaches every day so I didn’t know how this run would feel.  Thankfully, it ended up being pretty decent until around mile 4.5 when I started to feel some knee pain so backed it off.

  • Mile 1: 9:13
  • Mile 2: 9:13
  • Mile 3: 9:05
  • Mile 4: 8:57
  • Mile 4- 4.6: 8:34
  • 8:42 pace

I want to get about another six miles in for the week, so I may split that up between today and tomorrow.  I was on my own for dinner, and was craving Chick-fil-A all week so I finally caved and picked some up on the way home from the gym.  Haha really glad I completely cancelled out my run with a spicy chicken sandwich, but sometimes you just have to treat yourself.

So yummy, and now I want another one just from looking at this picture.  Anyway, as promised here are some of the Formspring questions you guys asked and my answers!

Do you think your current boyfriend is the one?
Well, I sure hope so because we have so many of the same friends it could be really awkward to break up ;).  Haha kiiiiidding.  The bf and I have been dating for just about a year, long distance (me in Philly and him in NYC) and are very happy together.  Unfortunately I have had past relationships that were serious, where we threw around the aspect of getting married and then they ended terribly, so I’m trying to avoid rushing into that conversation/situation again.  Also neither the bf or I are anywhere near ready to get married, so sure I think he could be the one, but we’re also not rushing anything and just enjoying the relationship.

Been following your blog for awhile and really enjoy it. You seem like you would be fun to hang out with and appear to be a very positive person. Do you laugh a lot? If so are you ticklish and do you love, like, hate or tolerate being tickled…..have fun
Haha this question made me laugh, I absolutely HATE being tickled.  It almost causes me physical pain, and if the bf even tries it I immediately threaten to kick him in the balls.  I do love laughing though, and I laugh a lot :).

Too hot for anything but A/c. Are you a reader? If so what are your favs, romance, mysteries, spy novels? Have a great weekend…
Love, love, love reading, and I will pretty much read any book you put in front of me.  Whether it’s a cheesey girly book, or Pillars of the Earth, I like them all.  I really enjoy mysteries like John Patterson and Mary Higgens Clark books, but I pretty much love to read anything!

Do you like air conditioning or fans in this heat?
AC, definitely, AC, but I do sleep with a fan blowing on my face at night.

What methods do you use to escape the heat?
Either sit inside in the air conditioning or go lounge at the pool in my neighborhood, both are pretty delightful.

Are you a sports fan? Besides running that is…..
Sure am!  Growing up I did gymnastics, played soccer, and ran track.  When I got to high school I traded in my soccer cleats for a field hockey skirt, and that became my fall sport.  I also am a huge football and baseball fan, and I play in at least one or two fantasy football leagues every year.  Two years ago I even won $1,500!

Do you like living in Philly?
I love the city of Philadelphia, and I wish I actually lived in the heart of it instead of on the outskirts in a suburb.  I do enjoy being so close though, and all that it has to offer.  I’ve definitely become a city girl as I’ve gotten older.

Have your friends ever held you down and pulled off your shoes and socks while fooling around? Or, have you ever done that to someone else? It’s fun if done with the right people. Have a great weekend…..
Haha, I can’t say that I’ve ever done this to anyone or had it happen to me.

Thanks for everyone who submitted questions, they’re really fun to answer!  So ask more!  I hope everyone has a great weekend!
