Four a Year?

So what does one do with an absurd amount of leftover grilled peppers, onions, and chicken from their Monday night BBQ?  Eat the exact same wrap for dinner two nights in a row, that’s what.

All rolled up, rolled up poorly, but rolled up nonetheless.  After a few minutes of fighting with the smoke detector and throwing some windows open, I had some lovely roasted Yukon Gold potatoes seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt, and black pepper on the side.

It was one of those wraps that you can’t put down once you start eating for fear that it will fall apart, but it was delicious.  It’s been a long time since I roasted any kind of potato that wasn’t a sweet potato, so this was a nice change.

I had every intention of going to the gym tonight and getting my first run since Cherry Blossom over with, but after an hour and a half appointment at the lady doctor getting poked, prodded, and scolded (yeah, yeah I know the HPV vaccine is important) I was starving and just wanted to go home.  Luckily I did escape without having to step on a scale, they trusted me to tell my weight honestly, ha.  I guessed, and rounded up slightly from what I was 9 months ago.

Side note, this doctor was intent on switching me to the period every three months birth control pill.  This was after I explained the horrible PMS symptoms I develop about 2 weeks before that time of the month every month.  I was like ok well one, I don’t want to feel like that for three months at a time, two I am neurotic enough, I don’t need to worry about whether or not I’m knocked up every month because I haven’t gotten a period.  Needless to say, I walked out with two months sample of a lower hormone dosage that will still give me a period every month.

Anyway, the roommates and I are off to the Phils/Nats game tonight, don’t worry Col I will be wearing my Phillies gear or wait should I wear a Flyers shirt and Phillies hat since they have their first playoff game tonight?  Then tomorrow we’re off to NYC.  The month of April is seriously flying by, I can’t believe Dar will be here in two weeks!  I guess that’s what being super busy will do for ya.  Next weekend I’m heading home for Easter, and then he’ll be here, yay!  Well happy Thursday friends, have a good one.

Ramblings

Glad to see I’m not alone in my love of countdowns.  It really is so satisfying to check off days and see something get closer and closer.  Anyway, to those of you who asked, I will be going to the Montego Bay area of Jamaica which looks beautiful to me despite one commenter saying they were not impressed.  I’m pretty easy to please, give me a swim up bar, lounge chairs on the beach, and some decent food and we’re good to go.

As I said yesterday, I had a speed work session on the training plan for last night.  It almost didn’t happen.  Until I actually passed the exit on the highway that would take me home and continued on to the one to the gym, I hadn’t decided whether I was going or not.  I went, and did 3×1 mile repeats at 8:15 pace.  It was supposed to be 4, but mile repeats are a bitch and I didn’t want to do the last one.  All together 3.75 on the treadmill followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical.  I felt much better after working out, so I’m glad I forced myself to go.

The Flyers and the Caps played each other last night, so the roommates and I sat watching the game, rooting against each other.  Unfortunately the Flyers lost in a shoot out, but it was a close game and should be an interesting match up if the teams end up meeting in the playoffs.  Dani and I already decided that lots of booze will have to be involved if that happens.

So, the National Marathon/Half Marathon is this weekend and I know tons of people are coming in from out of town to run.  I’m not running, but I’m thinking about spectating and really want to have a chance to meet up with some of the out of towners coming in.  So, who’s running, are there plans for a meet up in the works?  Let me know!

Wednesday friends, get excited.  Although, I do apologize to everyone up north who is getting snow today.  That blows.

Eye Candy Wednesday

So I think I’ve mentioned it before, but my two roommates are realllllly huge Capitals fans.  As in they make sure they look good to go to the grocery store because the Caps training facility is across the street, and you just never know.  Well actually I do that too, there’s some really good-looking men in our grocery store.  Anyway, since moving in with them I’ve watched more hockey games than probably ever before in my life.  Being from Philadelphia I cheer for the Flyers, but I don’t sit on my couch watching every game.  There is some Flyers/Caps rivalry though since they are both in the Eastern conference, so I of course bought myself a Flyers t-shirt just to annoy the roommates.  At least we can agree on one thing, to hate the Penguins.  Last night however I found myself again on the couch watching a Caps game, and cheering for them.  It took me by surprise, and I instantly shut up because I promised to not become a Caps fan.  I do have to give something to the roommates though, they picked a team with some damn good-looking individuals to love.

Either way, if it comes down to a Caps/Flyers playoff situation, I’ll be cheering for the Flyers don’t worry.  Ok, moving on.  I made it to the gym again last night, and did a relatively quick (for me) 2 miles and then cooled down with 15 minutes on the elliptical.  I followed up with some strength training, because I am determined to work that back into my schedule.  I did some biceps and triceps, followed by push-ups on an upside down bosu ball, and planks.  On my first plank, I was determined to hold it for a minute, and good lord did I forget how hard that was.  Second time around was only 30 seconds, haha.  Today I feel good and somewhat sore, which is fine for me because I was missing that feeling.

Tonight will most likely be a rest day, as it is Wednesday and the usuals will all be at happy hour tonight.  As of right now I’m planning on going, but we’ll see how tired/social I’m feeling at the end of the day.  Have a great one!
