Weird

I feel the need to rub it in that today is my last day in the office until Tuesday :).  I’m working from home tomorrow, and then off on Friday and Monday for Megh’s wedding/MDW.  I’m quite excited, as you can probably imagine.  Other really exciting things?  You can watch HBO movies and shows online if you log in with your cable provider.  Yup.  Now showing?  Green Lantern.  Hello Ryan Reynolds, I ❤ you.

mmmhmmm

My Aunt is in town from New Jersey on a business trip this week, so last night I trekked into DC to meet her for dinner.  Her hotel is in Dupont, so to keep it simple we met at James Hoban’s Irish Pub right off the Circle.  I’d never been before, but was always curious, and I really enjoyed it.  We ordered the crab dip appetizer, which was delicioussss and then I had the Shepherd’s Pie as my main course.  It was a lovely dinner, but DC adventures on a weeknight always wear me out, so today I’m slightly more sleepy than usual.

So, funny story.  I’m pretty sure Darren got “B” listed for a friend of his wedding in August.  Ya know, he got put on the list of people who get invited if enough “A” listed ones RSVP “no”.  He was telling me he got an email talking about the bachelor party in July (the same weekend as my birthday trip to the beach that he told me months ago he would be waaaaaaaaay to busy to travel for, but that’s a story for another day) and I found it weird he hadn’t gotten at least a save the date for the wedding.  He of course, being a man, didn’t find it weird at all that he hadn’t gotten any notice about a wedding that’s happening in August.  After lots of my nagging yesterday he finally called one of the other guys on the bach party email list, and asked what the deal with the wedding is.  Apparently they sent save the dates out, but not to everyone, and invitations haven’t gone out yet.  Weird right?  I just thought it was funny that none of this had crossed his mind.

Now, the real question of the day.  I forgot my lunch at home, so should I eat lame cafeteria food or go across the street and get something delicious?

Probably Gonna Turn into the Hulk

So, the inspection?  Kinda no big deal this time around!  The only major things that need fixing are a Radon system needs to be installed, and the fans from each of the bathrooms need to be vented through the roof in the attic.  They currently just stop there.  Other than that it’s just minor repairs that come with a 34 year-old house.  Score one for us!  Finally.  Soooo, we close on June 11, but we’re hoping to get the bank on board with a little bit earlier of a closing since the house is vacant.  We’ll see!

In accordance with my workout plan, yesterday I did my 30-40 minutes of cardio in the form of a lunch time spin class.  44 minutes and 17.2 miles later, I had melted into the ground and could barely pull myself off the bike.  At one point my bike was on resistance 20, that’s as high as they go.  I’m not even sure I was actually pedaling.  It was tough, but awesome.

Like I mentioned yesterday, there are also some nutritional guidelines that go along with this training plan, and I thought I’d go into that a little bit today.  Taking into consideration my current stats, the trainer is recommending I eat 1975 cals a day, including 198g each of carbs and protein, and 44g of fat.  I am finding it nearly impossible to consume that much protein, I hit 121 g on Monday and 105 g yesterday.  I’m also struggling to hit my calorie count, which I actually found surprising.  So here’s what two days of eats look like while trying to stay low-fat, high protein.  Surprisingly I’ve managed to stay below my 44g of fat allowance.

Monday

Tuesday

Yesterday I felt like I was eating all day long, and even when dinner time rolled around wasn’t that hungry and sort of just made myself eat.  It’s not so bad really, because I kind of enjoy eating constantly and never being so hungry I want to murder someone.  We’ll see how this works out for me in the next few weeks.  Speaking of dinner though, I had some technical issues last night.  I really wanted to grill my chicken an peppers, but after going through every single match I could find in the house, still couldn’t get the charcoal grill lit.  This happened instead:

Sigh, I fail.  Oh well, my kebabs tasted just as delicious this way, and because I still had some calories left I ate ice cream and drank wine for dessert.  Yup.

Anywho, that’s it from me today, have a good one!

Global Warming, it’s Real

It’s February (does anyone else say that totally weird in their head? No, just me, ok then) and in honor of the perfectly normal 65 degree weather for January 31, I took a 30 minute walk at lunch yesterday.

I ended up walking just about 2 miles, and since I currently cannot get into the gym and lift, it was a better workout than just doing nothing.  It was so nice out, I was afraid I was going to start sweating through my silk blouse, which since it is dry clean only would have been no bueno.  Um, if you’ve figured out where my office is from that picture please don’t come and stalk me.  I doubt if anyone would notice I went missing for at least a week.

After work I met the roommates at home and we ventured down the street to Bangkok 54 for dinner and some wine.  I ate my body weight in Chili Basil Fried Rice (oops hello carb overload yesterday) and enjoyed two glasses of Cab Sauv while chatting away.

I’m hoping to get away at some point this afternoon to go get my bangs trimmed, since they are currently too long to wear down and hang in my eyeballs.  Conveniently my hair salon is just across the street.  Maybe I’ll even walk to get some exercise in again.  I think there may be a chance of rain though, so we’ll see.

I think my back is on the mend, I can almost extend my arm fully straight in the air above my head without feeling like a rubber band is snapping, so hopefully I will be back in action in the gym soon.  I just almost said happy Thursday, it is only Wednesday.  Lame.
