I think we’re in Kansas

Holy tornado warnings!  It seems like a majority of the country has either been under a watch or a warning since yesterday.  Here in VA/MD we’ve alternated between both.  The severe weather bulletins interrupted my nighttime TV watching enough times that I was well aware of the weather going on outside.  Supposedly once this afternoon rolls around we’ll be in the clear.  Craziness.

I managed to make it to spin class last night, before the bad weather hit, and it was alright.  Different instructor, less fun (ie pop) music, and more focused on low resistance and sprints than hill climbs.  For a majority of the class last night we had the resistance set between 4-8 and focused on high RPMs, whereas the Tuesday class I normally take the resistance never goes below 11.  For me, it’s the high resistance that gets my heart rate up, and not really the fast RPMs.  I suppose in combo the two classes would balance each other out, but if I can only make it to one a week I’d probably pick Tuesday’s.  Also, since more time was spent in the saddle, my hooha is thaaaat much more sore today.  Sorry, had to throw that out there.

So last night, I tried to clean my bathroom, which I thought should involve washing my bathmat.  You know, the thick piece of rug you place outside the shower, to stand on all soaky wet?  Since Pumpkin and I share a bathroom (yes it’s kind of gross but kind of the only option for her litter box) sometimes stray litter gets on it.  So I threw the thing in the washing machine and let it go.  A few minutes later I just kept hearing, thud, thud, thud, and then a crashing noise.  Uh, what?  I ran into the laundry room and every single bottle of detergent and fabric softener had fallen onto the floor, and the washing machine was moving across the floor.

Yeah, so I stopped the washing machine, it was on the last spin cycle anyway, and proceeded to pull a sopping wet bath mat out.  Now it’s hanging over my shower rod, still dripping wet.  I’m hoping it dries soon?  But seriously, why did the washer fail?  And will my bath mat ever dry?  That’s what I get for trying to clean, lesson learned.

I’m off to go stare out the window and look out for funnel clouds.  Tornado warning at work!  Byeya!

Thanks for the compliments on my Easter dress yesterday!  It’s from Victoria’s Secret, my go to for cheap summer sundresses actually.  They’re always cute and comfortable, in fact, one summer when I was a hostess at a restaurant in Philly we used one type as our uniform.

That one was really short though, made it interesting when I had to climb a ladder to get to the loft to change the music.  I typically wore a bathing suit bottom underneath at all times.  That was the best summer job ever, I got to work outside every day, on a boat, on the Delaware, and if it rained we got to go home :).  I miss the Bongo days :(.

Sorry for the tangent, anywayyyy, last night I went to the gym with the intention of running 3 miles.  I ran one, decided I felt like I was going to vom or pass out, and decided to do a walking work out of sorts.  I alternated between a 6-10 incline for two minutes each, bringing it back down to a 4 and jogging at 6.0 mph for 2 minutes after each time at 10.  I ended up doing something like 2.6 miles in 30 minutes.  Whatever.  Then I did 10 minutes on the arc trainer.

Our fitness facility at work opens next month, and you have to have a fitness assessment in order to join, so I signed up for mine yesterday.  So that will happen sometime in May.  It will be nice to workout at lunch time and right after work without having to drive an hour in traffic.  I can’t wait.

Since I have a visitor arriving in 2 days ;), I spent most of last night cleaning my room.  It was seriously looking like a bomb exploded, I wasn’t even sure if I still had a floor.  Also, since I brought back my entire summer wardrobe and didn’t bring any of my winter clothes home, I had to make some big time room in my closet.  I switched out all my heavy sweaters and winter shoes and boots, to the smaller closet and organized the summer stuff in the makeshift closet I built when I moved in.

Much better, and now I don’t have to go digging around on a closet floor to find the pair of shoes I’m looking for.  Although I am missing one of my favorite pair of gold flat sandals, which is really pissing me off.  Yes, you do see pink and teal pants hanging in my closet.  I’m sorry for my preppiness, but not really.

So, we don’t have central air in our house, just window units in all our rooms, and technically the living room, but we haven’t put that one back in yet.  Yesterday when I got home, it was so hot downstairs that I felt bad for Pumpkin.  So today I locked her in my room with her food, water, and the A/C.  I hope she’s not pissed at me, but I have to keep the door closed and I don’t want her to get too hot.  Sorry Pumps, it’s for your own good!

Anyway, it’s Tuesday, yuck, but I might be having dinner with some people tonight?  Maybe? Today kind of snuck up on me.  I can’t wait for Thursday to get here though.  Laterrr.

Hi, my name is Kelly and I’m addicted to Lifetime

Last night I stayed up till 2 am just to watch The Pregnancy Pact on Lifetime. I was out celebrating my friend Alexis’s birthday so I missed the original airing at 9, oh but you bet your ass I made sure I was home to see it replay at midnight. I drove to the bar last night so I wasn’t drinking, and was very much looking forward to making a giant vodka and club to drink during the movie. So you can imagine my disappointment when I realized we were out of club soda, gasp no not that anything but that! Thankfully we had tonic and cranberry juice, so I improvised and made a carbonated cosmo. Curled up in my bed, drink in hand, and wearing flannel pajama pants, I settled in for the next two hours, it was a very delightful end to my Saturday night. Leading up to this Lifetime movie premiere event, they were playing all of their classic movies about pregnancy, Mom at 15, 16 and Pregnant, Too Young to Be a Dad, needless to say I was sucked in all day. At one point I sent the boyfriend a bbm saying something about pregnancy and babies, and this was his response, “Stop watching Lifetime.” Haha, he knows me so well. I wasn’t completely unproductive though, I finally unpacked from NYE and cleaned my entire room.

Apparently this post is going to start with the end of the weekend and move forward, or backward, which one is right? I don’t know, you know what I mean. Ok so, Saturday morning I woke up early to get to the gym and finalllly made a new running playlist. The one that was currently on my Ipod I made last year, so it was about time for an update. My lats and shoulders were soooo sore from yoga on Friday, (haven’t told you about that yet, there are pictures coming) but I had a six-mile run to get in. It went alright, my shoulders felt really tight and sore for most of the run, but I finished in a decent time. Six miles in 54.50, 6.62 miles altogether in 60 minutes. After working out the past six days in a row, I am taking full advantage of this rest day and sitting my ass on the couch. I really want to go do some shopping later, but I’m trying very hard to stay away from the mall. I’m still trying to decide what to get the boyfriend for Valentine’s Day/our six month anniversary. HELP!

Alright, Friday night is very picture heavy 1) because I was bored and 2) I am trying to keep my friend Megan’s attention. Apparently she is not entertained. I forced myself to get in the 30 minutes of yoga, I’m feeling it more every time so I think I am working harder/doing the moves more correctly. Please enjoy my 80s workout top.

I do actually have a yoga mat, but it is currently MIA so I just roll up the carpet and make use of the crap underneath. What you can’t see in the pictures is Pumpkin sitting on the arm-chair to the right waiting to pounce on me every time I move. After working out I made myself a Kelly Special, which is a lot of 3 Olives and a splash of club soda, and made some dinner. Since I was home alone I used one of the recipes in my Hungry Girl cookbook, pizza!

The ingredients:
1 medium low-fat flour tortilla (about 110 cals with at least 6g fiber)
1 1/2 ounces ground-beef-style or sausage-style soy crumbles (I used a sliver of leftover meatloaf and some turkey pepperoni)
1/3 cup shredded fat-free mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup canned tomato sauce
2 teaspoons reduced fat Parmesan-style grated topping
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Other optional spices (I used onion powder, oregano, basil, and black pepper)

All the ingredients

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees, and place the tortilla in a baking pan sprayed lightly with nonstick spray and bake 5-6 minutes on each side.

Combine all of the spices with the sauce in a bowl while the tortilla is baking. Remove the tortilla from the oven, and spread on the sauce. Then sprinkle on the cheese and add the rest of your toppings.

I had some red and green peppers already cut up in my fridge, so I threw those on as well. After all of the toppings are added, put the pizza back in the oven for about 5 minutes or until the cheese melts.

It was delicious! The tortilla was crispy and made for a perfect thin crust. I will definitely be making this again… in fact I could go for some pizza right now.

This is a picture of it half eaten, but you can see the crust and peppers more clearly. According to the cookbook, 1 pizza has 264 calories, 4.5g of fat, 1.5g of fiber, and 27g of protein. I’m sure those numbers vary a little depending on your exact ingredients.
