Can You Tie Your Shoes?

So for such a small creature, my cat can be extremely annoying.  She’s super clingy and needy, and loves to rub her furry self all over my black dress pants while I’m making my lunch in the morning.  Also, if she feels like you aren’t paying enough attention to her she will sit and meow at you until you do.  I don’t really know what was wrong with her the other night, but she wouldn’t shut up or leave me alone so I decided to bribe her with a can of soft food.  Pumpkin normally only gets the hard stuff.  Well, have you ever seen a cat who is not used to getting soft food eat it?  I swear it was like crack for her.  She did not make a sound for a good 10 minutes while she ate, and then she proceeded to lounge on the floor sleeping for the rest of the night.  I’m pretty sure she ate herself into a coma.  She looked something like this:

Even yesterday when I came home from work, she didn’t get off the couch and follow me around like she normally does.  She merely lifted her head up, looked at me, and put it down to go back to sleep.  Although, I think I’ve created a monster because now she won’t eat the hard food and just keeps meowing at me.  Little shit.

Anyway, last night I did my 4 mile easy run at a 10 minute pace, followed by some abs and push-ups.  I’m happy to see the push-ups seem to be getting easier, might be time to up the number in each set.  Still had some stomach issues, I’m blaming the coffee I’ve been drinking in the mornings but hopefully I have no problems tomorrow for my long run.

Ok, so I know you all think you learned how to tie your shoes in kindergarten but did you know you’ve probably been doing it wrong?  I came across this video on Runners World yesterday and found it pretty interesting.  Go ahead, check it out, are you tying your shoes the right way?  I’m not, and I still can’t figure out the correct way, haha.  Every way I tried, my laces still pointed the wrong way.  I see this occupying me until I get it right.

We have our company picnic today at noon, so I pretty much only have a half day which is fantastic.  Then I’m hitting the road to VA, this drive always inspires my worst bouts of road rage because of traffic.  Dani and Adrienne, wine when I get there?  What is everyone else up to this weekend?

21 Day Cardio Body and Yoga Meltdown

Last night I utilized Exercise TV again, and did two workout videos.  I did the Brooklyn Decker Cardio Body workout, and then decided to check out Jillian’s Yoga Meltdown.  I’ve heard so much about it and how intense it is and I wanted to see for myself.  Here’s Pumpkin all ready to workout with me.

Doing two videos in a row might have been a little ambitious, because holy crap was I exhausted by the end.  My sister paused the TV during Jillian at one point and laughed, and was like you know you’re only half way done?  I thought for sure my arms were going to fall off of my body.  I kept waiting for her to tell us to push back into Child’s Pose, but I should have known there is no resting with Jillian.  I loved it though, and am now considering purchasing the actual DVD and will revisit level one through exercise TV as soon as I can move my triceps again.  Pumpkin gave up half way through, and went right to the bathing process.

For some reason, after a strenuous workout (especially when I know my muscles will be screaming the next day) I want nothing more than a giant glass of red wine.  Ok well I most always want a giant glass of red wine, but I’m convinced it keeps me from getting as sore also.  I schlepped across the street to the liquor/grocery store, picked up a bottle of Malbec, and some tortelloni.  Our off button for the oven currently isn’t working, so uh using it isn’t an option.

I used my toaster oven to roast some asparagus with olive oil, salt, and pepper and put that on the bottom of my plate.

Then I added the pasta, sauce, and a sprinkle of shredded Mozzarella.

It was good, and the addition of the asparagus made it a much more filling meal.  The sauce was a little bland for my taste, so I think when I use it again I’ll add some more seasoning to it.  Overall a quick, delicious, and healthy meal.

Tonight is hopefully my very last PT appointment.  I’ve realized I’m so nervous about working out though and am afraid to push myself because of my leg.  I still just keep expecting it to hurt, I wonder how long it will take before I trust my body again?

Have a great Thursday everyone, it’s almost the weekend!  Or if you’re my two jerky friends, today is your Friday.

It sucked me in

Hehe, so remember when I told you about the harness and tie-out I bought Pumpkin so she could roam around outside with me, and how she hated it?  Well I put it back on her to take a picture just so you all could see just how distressed she is.  Don’t worry, she only stayed mad at me for a few minutes.

Hahah she just stood like that and wouldn’t move.  Silly cat.  She didn’t like her collar at first either, but now I don’t even think she notices it, so I’m thinking she’ll get over her hatred of the harness, especially if it means she can go outside.

On the exercise front, I swam last night for the first time since oh, um last Wednesday.  My arms are loving me today, and apparently all this swimming is making my back broader.  According to my mother anyways.  Thanks mom, just what every 25 year old women wants to hear “I think this swimming is giving you a broad back”.  Well I don’t care what you think, just zip the damn dress!  Oh yeah, she bought me this great BCBG dress to wear to one of the 30823 weddings I have this year, and I currently look like I’m pregnant in it.  It’s one of those super tight, strapless things, so this gut from not running needs to hightail it back to where it came from by the end of the summer.  Or I need to invest in some SPANX.

Oh yeah, back to my swim.

  • 8 lap warm-up (200 m?)
  • 8 x 2 laps (50 m)
  • 6 x 2 laps
  • 4 x 2 laps
  • 2 x 2 laps
  • 16 lap cool-down (400 m?)

One of these days I swear I’ll stop being so lazy and ask how big the pool is, until then we’ll just deal with my estimations.  Also, ear plugs are my new bff!  I used them for the first time last night and did not get any water in my ears at all, normally I’m stopping every lap to bang some water out of my head.  This made swimming much more enjoyable for me.  Ok, rant time for a minute, biggest gym annoyance?  People who walk around completely naked in the locker room.  There was a girl there yesterday who walked from the showers, to the locker room with only a towel on her head, and then she pulled on some pants (but didn’t button them) and got on her cell phone.  While still topless with the towel on her head.  Wtf girl, get dressed, no one wants to see you naked, and if you have to be naked for a few minutes then do it discreetly.  Ok, rant over.

Dinner last night was a rotisserie chicken, grilled veggies, and mashed potatoes from our local gourmet grocery store McCaffrey’s.  Since I’m going out of town this weekend and my mom eats like a rabbit, she doesn’t want to buy any food, so prepared foods it is.

Good thing she only bought the small container of mashed potatoes, because I would have taken the whole thing and sat on the couch eating just that.  I sort of love mashed potatoes.  The veggies were alright, I like the way I make mine better, but I still ate them.  The chicken was delicious, as always.  Boo for no Modern Family or Cougar Town last night, I was stuck watching the 16 and Pregnant after labor special with Dr. Drew.  The one girl got engaged on the show, you know how her 16 year-old bf proposed?  He got down on one knee and said I want you to be my girl, be my girl.  Oh, I’m sorry is that how you’re asking me to marry you? Gaaaah.  These kids are dumbasses.

Hmm, I started this post thinking I had nothing to say, and here we are 630 words later, uh I guess I’ll stop now.  Happy Thursday everyone!
