Trail Run Fail

Holler friends, happy Tuesday! It may be the worst day of the week, but at least tomorrow is Wednesday and then the week is almost over! I really hate how I constantly am wishing time away, but seriously what else is there to look forward to except the weekend?

Last night my sister and I ventured over to a local trail to try it out for our run. It is literally two minutes from our house, but yet neither one of us has ever gone. It’s a 285 acre nature preserve called 5 Mile Woods, and now I know why we never ran there before. While a majority of the trails are dirt paths, there are sections that remind me of the wooden planks on jungle gyms. You know, when one person jumps on one end the person on the other is bounced off. There were tree roots sticking out of the ground everywhere and fallen tree trunks blocking the path. It was more of an obstacle course than a trail run, and after 2.5 miles we made our way out of the woods.

Thumbs down for sure. We managed to do another mile on the streets before looping back to the car and calling at a day. Oh well, something is better than nothing right? Oh and that is the third shirt from the bf from my birthday. I told my sister I was wearing it so she wouldn’t lose me in the woods, haha. Uh, Col thought I was taking a picture here which is why she’s just posing like a weirdo but it was really a video

After our run, we had to rush home because I was getting a surprise visitor! The bf needs to drive down to VA Beach this week, so he stopped here for a night to hang out, hooray!

For dinner we enjoyed some frozen pizzas, one California Pizza Kitchen Margarita Pizza and one Red Baron Pepperoni Pan Pizza.

Girl and boy pizza. The pan pizza was thick and delicious and the CPK was just as good as always. After dinner. the three of us sat on the couch watching The Bachelorette reunion special with all the dudes who were kicked off. Extremely entertaining. I can’t wait until the season finale next week to see who Ali chooses.

Tonight I think my sister is going to accompany me to the 4:30 yoga class, yeah I’m giving it another shot. I need to find a way to incorporate cross training and I think this is a good one. I’ll be sure to report back and let you all know if the chanting is as prominent as last week.

I hope everyone has a great day and that Tuesday goes by quickly!

Pizza and Vodka Cure All

Well, yesterday was a shitty day.  Without really going too much into it, things keep going on at work that make it less and less appealing to be here.  I didn’t think it was possible to have them treat us, as contractors, any more unfairly than they already do, but sure enough it is.  Needless to say, after an infuriating afternoon at work I was more than ready to burn off some frustration on the treadmill.  I’m trying to gradually increase my pace for my runs so that it’s possible for me to run a sub 2 hours half marathon in November, and this is what yesterdays 4 miles looked like.

  • Mile 1: 9:22
  • Mile 2: 9:22
  • Mile 3: 9:05
  • Mile 4: 8:34
  • 36:23 or a 9:05 pace

Getting faster!  To break 2 hours, I need to run a 9:05 pace, so I’m getting on target.  There is a 4:30 yoga class at my gym today that I am thinking about trying.  I don’t know how good it will be, but I still haven’t bought the Yoga Meltdown DVD and I’m missing it now that it’s gone from Exercise TV.

Despite my good run, I was still in a horrible mood when I got home and decided to treat myself to a cocktail.  I made myself a CPK Margarita Pizza for one and a Raspberry vodka and club.  Quite a delicious combo for a Monday night.

One of these, but the Margarita version.  Although now looking at this, I’m remembering how good the Pesto Chicken one was, yum.  After dinner, I also indulged in a glass of wine while I watched The Bachelorette and Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Lifetime movie, The Client List.  Both were as entertaining as expected, I can’t believe the season finale of The Bachelorette is in two weeks, I really really really hope she picks Chris L.  I love him.

In other news, today is my moms birthday, so Happy Birthday Mom!  Yup, 25 years ago I was the best birthday present ever seeing as she was still in the hospital for hers after giving birth to me two days prior.

Well here’s to hoping that Tuesday doesn’t suck as much as Monday did.  See ya!

Vampires and Wolves, Oh My!

Last night my sister and I met up with two of our friends to go see the latest Twilight movie, Eclipse.  I have to say, this was by far my favorite of the movies yet.  The third and fourth books were my favorite to read also, so that might have something to do with it.  This one was packed full of action and not just the sappy romantic stuff between Bella and Edward.  Taylor Lautner was shirtless a lot, so that helped too.  I also think Dakota Fanning does an awesome job as Jane, she really looks like she is pure evil and emotionless.

Dakota Fanning as Jane

yup

So uh yeah, that’s that.  I’m very excited for Breaking Dawn now.  It should be interesting to see how they handle everything in the book, or even if they do.  I think that’s also what I like about Eclipse so much, it followed the book almost exactly, including the back stories of Jasper, Alice and Rosalie.  Alright, moving on from Twilight mania.

Before the movies, I came home with every intention of doing Yoga Meltdown.  Unfortunately it is now gone from the Jillian Michaels On Demand section!  It was very upsetting.  I tried to do another yoga workout, the Exercise TV Yoga Sculpt, but I got about 15 minutes into it before I realized I hated it.  Guess I will be ordering the Yoga Meltdown DVD this week.

After my yoga fail, I just did some other random exercises on the floor.  They included some rolling T’s, chatarunga push-ups, and that’s about it.  Meh, better than nothing?

Dinner was a quick California Pizza Kitchen pizza.  This time the Sicilian, which I never tried before.

Sicilian Pizza

It was good, but I think I’ll stick to my normal Margarita or Spinach and Artichoke CPK pizzas.  Then at the movies, I ate about 1 billion mini soft pretzels and cheese.  Yeah, I couldn’t help it, and they were delicious.  I mean I figure, I never go to the movies, I can indulge in some soft pretzel bites if I wanna!

Anyway, this morning I’m pretty sure my cat lost her damn mind, because as I was making my turkey sandwich she jumped up on the counter and tried to get at it!  Now normally, she just winds her self in and out of my legs while I’m making lunch so that I’m actually wearing fur pants by the time I get to work, or she stands on her back two legs, pawing at me with the front two.  Today, she decided that turkey was hers though, and up onto the counter she went.  I grabbed her quickly and put her back on the floor, but that cat, she’s getting ballsy in her older age.

Ok everyone, I hope you all have a great day.  Seriously thank god it’s Wednesday already.  I only have 4 more days left of being 24, then I’ll probably have a quarter life crisis meltdown.  Good thing I’ll be surrounded with plenty of booze this weekend to drown my sorrows in.  See ya’ll later!
