I should be running down Broad Street right now with 30,000 other crazy people, but instead I am sitting here blogging, sigh.  Not going to lie, I almost started crying watching the coverage on ABC this morning.  Next year you are mine Broad Street, and hopefully I’ll be running one of the Philly half marathons in the fall.  Fingers crossed.

Last night I recruited my mom to go out to dinner, and we drove into Princeton to the Witherspoon Grill.  Since it was such a gorgeous night, there was about an hour wait for an outside table, but I was willing to rough it at the bar with a few glasses of Sangria while we waited.  For an appetizer we ordered the Crab and Artichoke dip, and oh man was it good.  I’m pretty sure that I ate the majority of it, and finally made the waitress take it away before I started licking the plate.

april 169Since I was deprived of real food all week due to the fact that I couldn’t swallow, I decided to splurge and order the burger.  Best decision ever.  For a dollar extra each, I added 2 hour sautéed onions, and American cheese.  The onions made this burger.

I couldn’t even make it through half of this, which mean leftovers for lunch, yessss! Haha.  This really was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, the bun was soft and doughy, the burger was cooked with the perfect amount of pink remaining, and each bite was juicy and full of flavor.  The fries weren’t too bad either :).

The painters are finally done in my yard, so I am off to try and get a tan again today.  Also, I don’t know where everyone got the idea that I have this lovely pool, haha but sadly all I have is a slab of concrete.  My townhome community has a pool, but that doesn’t open until Memorial Day weekend unfortunately.  If any one who lives near me does have a pool, I will be more than happy to come over and keep you company though.  How come no one reminded me that I’m on antibiotics and should probably use some sunscreen?! Good thing I remembered.  The last time I attempted to tan while on antibiotics I ended up so burnt I thought my nose and forehead were going to fall off.  Granted I was on spring break and in the middle of the Caribbean, but it was not pretty.

DSCN0087_JPG.sized Seriously, look at that tan line, it looks like I’m wearing a white bikini under my top.  I’m one of those weirdo 95% Irish people that doesn’t typically burn and can get by with using 4 SPF, unless I am on antibiotics.  It was really cute when my forehead was swollen, not.  Alright, I’m going to force myself to turn off Broad Street coverage, enjoy my Starbucks, and head outside.

Happy Sunday everyone!

It’s the freakin weekend!

Hooray for Friday, if you had asked me Monday if I would make it through the week I probably would have just glared at you, and then coughed on you.  I did it though, I made it to Friday and I couldn’t be happier.  Also, is anyone else amazed that tomorrow is the first day of May?  Where did April go, because I feel like I missed it completely.  I drove past my community pool yesterday, and the cover was off, woohoo!  I can hear the lounge chairs calling me name already, only 29 more days until it actually opens.

Even though I wasn’t feeling it at all, it was too late to cancel my PT appointment for yesterday so I dragged myself there.  Luckily my pt guy is awesome and said that since I was sick, any stress on my body would cause backwards progress in my recover so we just did the stretching and light lifting exercises.

My mom wanted to be mean last night, and made one of my favorite dinners for her and her boyfriend, chicken and broccoli casserole.  I’ve talked about it here.

Last night they had Wild Rice instead of brown, but you get the idea.  The worst thing about this strep throat thing, is I’m still hungry, I just can’t eat.  Last night I decided it give it a shot though, and managed to eat some delicious chicken and broccoli.  I had to take teeny tiny bites, and chew for an hour each time, but I managed, and it was so good.  Then I indulged in my vampire addiction with the Vampire Diaries.  I don’t know why, but I love that show, the bf says it’s because I am a teeny bopper, I just think the boys are hot.

I plan on laying out in the sun this weekend working on my tan, that has since faded since I got it started back in the beginning of April, or was that March?  Meh, who knows.  Maybe some Vitamin D will help with this getting better nonsense.   And good luck to everyone running Broad Street this weekend, it’s gonna be hot and humid, yuck!  Make sure to hydrate!  I will be out there with you in spirit, and hopefully in person next year.

Happy Friday ya’ll!

Conquering Broad Street, again

Look what I did this morning!

Officially registered for the Blue Cross Broad Street 10 mile run!  Anyone want to run with me?  I have no running partner this year :(.  It is the first Sunday of May, which gives me what, 11 weeks to train.  That is exactly what I had last year, the difference being this year I have been running consistently since February 2009.  Well if you don’t count the past two weeks I had to take off to rest my IT band.  Stupid knee.  I’m so excited, I estimated my finish time at 1 hour 30 minutes, so fingers crossed.  Back to the gym tonight for me (finally)!.  I’m still not allowed to run, but I figure I can at least hop on the elliptical for a good 45 minutes and get some major stretching of my tighter than hell IT band in.

Yesterday was a very relaxing President’s Day off with the bf.  When we finally left the apartment to go find some lunch, I think at this point it was 2 pm and I was verrrrry hungry, we couldn’t decide where to go and wandered around for years.  Ok maybe not years, but it sure felt like it.  I think I was on the verge of passing out, and getting crankier by the minute.  Waiting until 2 in the afternoon to eat for the first time all day is not a good idea for me.

Alex finallllly decided on this new place that recently opened called Rockwell’s Express. It was a really cool place, you create custom burgers, salads, wraps, chicken burgers, chicken sandwiches with whatever you want on them.  For the burgers and chicken burgers, all of the ingredients are mixed in with the meat, and then the patty is made.  It was pretty cool and delicious.  I ended up ordering a grilled chicken sandwich on a whole wheat bun, but after seeing Alex’s burger kind of wished I had gone with one of those.

Alex’s favorite part was the giant selection of fountain sodas and sauces and condiments.  Apparently that’s what he wants for his house someday.  Good luck with that babe.

After lunch we just sort of wandered around and ended up in Union Square, where we spent 3,000 hours looking at one pair of shoes in Shoe Mania.  The most surprising thing about that?  The shoes were not for me, nope it was all the bf.  He did not end up buying said shoes (hooray, I was not a fan) but by then I was too tired and annoyed with the Union Square crowds to even try to go into Trader Joe’s (sad) so we just went home.  Well we made one last stop at a Game Stop where guess what we bought.  A new Xbox game!  Haha shocking right?  It’s ok, I approve of this one, it’s a snowboarding game and relatively easy for video game idiots like me to play.

I got home around 8:30 last night, after a very crowded train ride, and surprise surprise it was snowing.  Sigh, how many days until Memorial Day?  102?  Getting back into the swing of things today has not been easy, in fact I am still struggling.  Notice how it’s 11 am and I am just getting around to posting?  Well at least LOST is on tonight, and tomorrow is Wednesday already!
