Oblique Workout

Is it tomorrow yet?  Dar and I looked into switching his flight to today since he finished his last job early and I can work from home, but it was too expensive. So, tomorrow it is.  I have a lot to do tonight, including  finishing cleaning my bathroom, browning meat and onions and garlic for my spaghetti sauce tomorrow so I’m not cooking at 7 am tomorrow, and making myself pretty.  That last one is the most annoying since I typically am a hot mess with my hair in a ponytail at work.

On Monday I did an awesome oblique workout that I found in Women’s Health and I wanted to share it with you guys.

I used 12 lb dumbbells and I’m still feeling it today.  Also, that second one where you rotate, awesome for the shoulders too.  Try it!

I have to teach a two-hour training class today, blaaaaaah, on top of all my regular work so hopefully the day passes quickly.  Anyway, that’s all I’ve really got for ya today, pretty much just wanted to share that workout.  Later!

Shit My Boyfriend Says

I’m actually stealing this idea from Marie, because her two SMHS posts have cracked me up, and not a day goes by where something doesn’t come out of Darren’s mouth to make me roll my eyes and shake my head.  A little background on my love.  He uses Facebook so rarely that his profile picture is a good five years old, until he actually came with me on a blogger meet-up he was convinced I was going to be murdered by one of them some day, he doesn’t read my blog and asked me if it was ok if he never did.  I’m not at all sure why he has a smart phone, he owns guns, he wants to send me MACE.  Uh, profanity to follow because he curses like a trucker.

“I swear to god if u put one live, laugh, love sign up in our house I’ll fucking kill you.”

This made me laugh because naturally, the girls and I have this decorating our living room:

(Still on the same topic) “Honestly though, is there a class all these women took in college on how to be cliché and typical?”

In response to a picture of Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes I sent him:
“Seriously, women have terrible taste. It’s why u guys look so ridiculous a lot of the time.  Heels with big pointy toes look fucking dumb.”

“I told you I wouldn’t be good at this relationship thing.”

Him: “You wanna see the only thing sexier to me than you?”
Me: “Sure.” (fully expecting a picture of a porn star’s ass or something)
(sends picture of a paintbrush to my cell)
Him: “Brand new 2 1/2 inch purdy clear cut baby.”

Life is definitely never boring :).  Anyway, last night I hit the gym for a lazy 3 miles at 9:40 pace just to shake out the soreness in my calves.  I’m swearing off the heels this week, and will be foam rolling before Sunday just to prevent any additional pain.  I’m a little more excited for Sunday now, because the roommates have promised to meet me at the finish line and then we are going to brunch, so at least I will have the thought of mimosas at the end making me run fast.

So it’s Tuesday, that blows, but the roommates and I are having taco night tonight, which is always delightful.  Not delightful?  The fact that I’m still wearing a coat and scarf in almost April.  Come on Spring, where the hell are you?

Blogger Date!

The rest of the day at work yesterday just went on and on, I couldn’t wait to get out of there when 3:30 rolled around.  I took care of some of the weekend errands I had to run during my lunch break, picked up a six-pack of Jack’s Pumpkin Spice Ale and a bottle of Raspberry Vodka, so I just had to stop at the grocery store on my way home.  I got Alex and I turkey for sandwiches, eggs and cheese for breakfast, and the things I need to make chicken marsala for dinner tonight.  Then I came home to get ready for my meet-up with Hope.

We met at the bar at 6:30 and had a blast!  One of the things I love the most about meeting other bloggers is that you feel like you already know so much about them, so it’s never awkward.  Hope is just as sweet and pretty in real life as she seems on her blog, and we realized we had a lot in common.  We talked and enjoyed some drinks, but unfortunately I had to cut our date early because boyfriend was getting into the Trenton train station at 8.  I probably could have sat there for hours more chatting with Hope.  Can’t wait to hang out again girl!

I hightailed it to the train station where Alex was patiently waiting for me, and people watching in Trenton, which is highly amusing.  Neither one of us wanted to go out to eat, so we just picked up a frozen pizza and came home and broke open the Pumpkin beers.  I planned to save them for today, but Alex assured me would could get more.  We watched the end of the Phillies game, who pulled off an amazing come from behind win, and about half of an episode of Boardwalk Empire before both of us were starting to doze off on the couch.  Yup, we went to bed at 10:30 on a Friday night.  At least that means I’m well rested and up bright and early for my 9 mile training run.

I’m currently snacking on a Chocolate Chip CLIF bar and drinking some water before I head out to tackle the 9 miles ahead of me.  I just got rid of the chafe marks from last week, so I will definitely make use of my Body Glide today.  Plans for today are still up in the air, we might go to one of the wineries around here or pick some pumpkins and carve them.  Obviously I’m rooting for the pumpkin picking, but I think boyfriend would rather go to a winery.  We shall see.  Ok I’m off to stretch and finish getting ready for this run.  Happy Saturday everyone, it’s going to be a gorgeous one!
