Cupcake Wednesday

First of all, Pumpkin says hello and thank you for all the well wishes with her plethora of vet visits lately.

Nearly $500 later, I have good news from the vet.  The test results are in and her kidney function levels are a normal level.  The explanation?  A high in meat diet.  Interesting since all she eats is Purina Cat Chow Indoor Formula hard food.  She must be sneaking into my turkey lunch meat after I leave for work for the day.  Anyway, looks like she’ll be fine, unless I kill her for waking me up at 3 am every morning.  The other night I finally used my brain and started taking her collar off of her so when she runs around like a crack addict in the middle of the night she doesn’t jingle like Santa Clause.  So much nicer.

Yesterday after work I hit the gym for a speed session on the treadmill; 2×1 miles at 8:25 pace.  The speed felt good, as did my new shoes.  I think I may have accidentally ordered them in a narrow width, um but whatever, I didn’t seem to have any problems last night.  I’ll let you know if I lose a toe.  After the speed workout, I hopped on the elliptical for another two miles and called it a night.

Once home, I got right to setting up my replacement Blackberry.  It’s smaller and more light weight than my old one, and purple.  Those are the only things I like about it.  Mostly because I cannot for the life of me figure out how to download the freaking Backup Assistant onto it.  The tech guy at Verizon did it for my old one on Saturday and didn’t show me how, and the VZW website provides absolutely no help.  None.  I might have thrown my old Blackberry on the floor in a fit of rage.  Then I ate a chocolate fudge cupcake and felt better.  So yeah, I currently have three contacts in my phone.  If anyone can help me, I’d appreciate it, otherwise I will be storming the Verizon store later in a cranky fit.

Lastly, I may have been given the “ok” to start researching a vacation for the late fall (mostly because I’m a whiny beotch if I don’t get my way) so if anyone has a favorite place they’ve been too.  Throw em at me!  I’m trying to stay under $1000 per person, so keep that in mind!  Alright so since most of the country is buried under snow and ice today, stay safe and warm!  We’re heading into the 50s with lots of rain.  Boo.  Happy Wednesday.  Oh, and I’m about to eat a cupcake for breakfast.

Hello?

Yet another weekend has gone by where I left you all hanging in the exciting aspects of my life.  Sorry about that, it’s because I spent most of the weekend looking like this.

Sweaty, dirty and wearing my glasses.  That was Saturday night.  I actually did put on some makeup and real clothes and go out for Sushi with the girls on Friday night.  Look I have proof!

Actually, they might not even be the same two people.  I’ll have to get back to you.  Anyway, because the winter weather severely screwed up my schedule last week, I ended up going to the gym on Friday after work; typically unheard of for me.  I did a 4 mile tempo run 1 mile warm-up at 9:40 pace, then the two middle miles ranging from a 9:05-8:30 pace, 1 mile cool-down at 9:40 pace.  Then I hauled ass home because the roommates were starving and we had dinner plans.  My Sushi craving finally resolved, we met up with two of our other girlfriends for a few drinks, calling it a night a little after midnight.

Saturday morning I woke up to my alarm blaring and the reminder that I had to be at the vet with Pumpkin in 20 minutes.  Woops.  Luckily the appointment went quickly, they were able to get the urine sample, and now I’m just waiting for the test results.  It will depend on the results to see what the next step is, they might need a culture? Whatever that means.  My plan for Saturday was to drop Pumpkin off at home and then immediately head to the gym.  Instead I ended up comfy on my couch until 3:30 in the afternoon when I finally bribed myself with Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner if I went and worked out.  My run was 5.3 miles in about 50 minutes, followed by a 10 minute cool down on the elliptical, bringing my grand total for mileage for the week to about 13.5.  Week one of training is in the books, now maybe I should actually formulate a real training plan.

Oh other exciting news, I had to buy a new Blackberry because mine crapped out on me on Saturday morning and won’t charge.  SO exciting since I was due for an upgrade in about six months, thanks for lasting BB, thanks.  Also exciting?  The new (actually used/refurbished) BB is in transit since they don’t keep them in stock, so to get my phone to charge I have to sit there holding the charger in place.  If I don’t return calls or texts, it’s because I had better things to do then sit holding my phone and charging it.  Don’t take it personally.  I did have the option of an early upgrade to another Blackberry, but I’m holding out until June for an iPhone.  I’ve been a loyal BB user since 2008, but it’s time for a change.

Hey last day of January!  Normally I’d be dreading the change of the calendar to February, but that puts us one month closer to spring and my Chicago trip!  Alright, happy Monday fools.

Manic Monday

Yesterday morning was a disaster.  When Alex comes to visit me he usually stays over on Sunday nights, and I drop him off at the train station on the way to work in the morning.  This typically works out fine, unless he has 37 bags, a box of booze, and a strong desire to not get out of bed on time.  All of which seemed to be the situation yesterday.

When we finally got out the door, it was about 7:15 which would make me late to work if I were driving straight there, forget about the train station stop.  Once we are on the highway, I notice Alex starting to feel around in his pockets.  “What don’t you have?” I asked him.  He ignored me and continued searching his pockets.  Knowing it was his Blackberry that he was most likely missing I pulled off the highway and headed back towards my house.  “Don’t talk to me for a second,” I told him.  “I have to call my boss and let him know i’m going to be late.”

With the Blackberry in our possession, we headed back toward the train station only to hit bumper to bumper traffic at a complete standstill the second we merged onto the highway.  That is when I banged my head on the steering wheel a few times, muttered a string of curses, and Alex ate his apple and bagel.

We made it to the train station at 7:58, two minutes before I had said I would be at work, and just as the horn of a train let us know of its imminent arrival.  We said our goodbyes quickly, Alex bolted for the train, and I continued my drive to work.  Where I finally arrived at 8:20.
