Mother Effing Rain

So, at this point, I really don’t think it’s going to ever stop raining.  Who wants to help me build and ark and start gathering two of every animal.  I have one female cat.  Oh wait, she can’t reproduce.  Well, I’m still bringing her.  On the plus side, I now have a swimming pool in my backyard, so that’s cool.

Also, if I hear one more person say, “Well at least it’s not snow!”  I am going to punch them, because if this was snow, it would be like 5 feet of snow, and I could be sitting home on my couch drinking Irish coffee instead of battling traffic with you assholes.  Some people are lucky enough to have “rain days” today, I however am not one of them.

Anyway, with yesterday’s 4 hour thunderstorm, I wanted nothing more to go right home after work and never leave my house again.  So that’s what I did, no workout, whatever I’m over it.  Maybe if it finally stops raining at some point this weekend I’ll get to play my football game tomorrow and go for a walk or something.

So what did I do?  I improvised on ingredients and made one of my favorite crappy weather comfort foods, meatloaf.  I made stuffed peppers with ground turkey one day last week, and had some leftover ground turkey hanging out in the freezer.  I had the forethought to defrost said turkey, and threw together a pretty delicious meal if I do say so myself.  I was missing the Cream of Tomato soup that usual makes an appearance in my meatloaf, so I subbed ketchup, and it worked pretty well.

I’d apologize for the crappy iPhone photos, but I don’t really care that much.  If you do, then get a life.

  • 1/2 lb ground turkey
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg white slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • Enough ketchup to hold the loaf together

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and form the loaf.  Place in a glass baking dish, and cook at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.  Basically until it’s finished.  I served mine with a bag of Steam Fresh veggies in a light cheese sauce.

It was good, not as moist as it could be, but I suspect using the can of soup would remedy this problem.  Either way I ate two pretty large slices and enjoyed myself.

Happy Friday, betches.  I’m off to find a canoe to row home in.

  1. Sorry you are getting so much rain. It is so ass backwards that your flooded and I am burning…WTF?

  2. I agree. I’d rather have snow than rain. Because my job isn’t important at all and my happy ass would be sitting at home with a remote in my hand. Silly backwards thinking people…

I’m making comfort food this weekend. In preperation of my massive hangover I’m planning to have tomorrow. I was thinking chili… but now meatloaf has entered my head. Wonder if I have all the stuff…. hmmm…

  3. hahaha I hate it when people try and make crappy weather seem better. When its super hot out theyre like, “at least its not raining” then when we have 5 feet of snow they say, “well, it could be worse”. Really? Cant you just say, “yah, this weather sucks”.

  4. I cant get over the color of that meatloaf, ha, must be the ground turkey.

And I actually thought to myself at least its not snow, I see where you’re coming from but 6 feet of snow would probably crush houses and cars and there’d be shoveling involved soooo…. I will take the rain anyday!

  5. I don’t mind the rain. It’s weather. It happens.

The loaf looks good and I’m all about those cheesy veggies. Have a god weekend!

  6. Seriously, I saw images of all the rain and flooding you guys are getting on the east coast right now- that is no joke. I hate traveling in rain, I totally hear ya. I hope it stops soon!

  7. I made my first ground turkey meatloaf last week, but I put shredded zucchini, and carrots in it. It sounds weird, but it was actually pretty delish. recipe here: http://mykitchenjourney.blogspot.com/2011/08/veggie-loaded-turkey-meatloaf.html

All that rain sucks. I’m not sure if I should even admit this, but I haven’t watched the news since Hurricane Irene, so I’m not quite sure what’s going on up that way. It’s been raining here every day as well, but not all day. Just a few hours or so, and then it quits. I hope it stops for you so that you can get to your football game, or go for a walk.. do you guys have mosquitoes up there? If not, be thankful. We have standing water around pretty often and that’s just a great cesspool for mosquitoes. ew.

  8. Stuffed peppers! Totally reminds me of Mom-Food. Hopefully the good food offsets the rain and the Assholes In Traffic….which, by the way, sounds like an awesome name for a 90’s grunge band.

  9. The rain was so effing stupid. I walked in it more on Friday than I even want to talk about. I was in bitch mode for sure.
